Assassin's Creed Valhalla Is Changing Progression And Cutting Down The Grind--Here's How It Will Work - GameSpot
This interview was quite late into the development. According to it the game was supposed to be, somewhat, accommodating to non-lethal approaches but at the end of the day it regressed compared to previous instalments. While I don't want to dwell into more in regards of this, I am extremely bothered by a lack of a very simple non-lethal stealth takedown being available to me in Valhalla. Despite the said quote previous AC games not only provided much more non lethal options (from easily available to tools to takedowns). Valhalla is extremely restricted in that and I don't understand why a simple k/o or choke takedown doesn't exist as a gameplay feature.
In all instalments since AC4 one could simply equip "fists" or an empty weapon slot and take a merciful approach to dealing with unaware enemies. I have greatly enjoyed that fact during side activities and many missions which didn't call for a violent approach. I really liked that I can simply swap from armed to unarmed in Odyssey and Origins with a single button. This is not the case in Valhalla as, even with weapons unequipped, I am still forced to watch Eivor use their hidden blade and murder an unaware foe, effectively robbing them of a glorious death in battle. Tools are also very limited.
While I understand that most people see no point to it in terms of game mechanics as it, at the end of the day, it all serves the same purpose it is the aesthetics and illusion of choice that make all the flavour and immensely add to the enjoyment of the game.
I am pretty sure there are non-lethal takedown animations available in the game. I implore developers to add an option of a non-deadly stealth takedown, at the very least, in a future patch for the sake of role playing and players "distressed" over the fact that assassination is "forced" upon them. ;]
Am I missing something. Does non-lethal "assassination" exist in the game and I am just not triggering it proper? While a feature in previous games it wasn't ever something that players were told about.
Soon there'll be more premium currency armor sets than they are obtainable in the game. On top of it everything just looks really over the top and we're really lacking some grounded and historically accurate aesthetics in the game. I really like the game and enjoy the series' format since Origins. I would humbly request for more clothing and armor options to be added at some stage for the upcoming transmog feature. It would be great if some simple appearances (honestly, they don't even need to have stats and bonuses like Thrall's Tunic) were purchasable from vendors around the world (regional clothes / armor?).
Personally I'd kill (in-game, of course) for some simple, period accurate tunics and simple hauberks. Want to save on resources? Just give me an Einherjar and Hunter set reskins without the blood, higher res textures and no layer overload below the waist (what's with the animal skins and bottom heavy models on nearly every armor?) I don't want to dwell on historical accuracies and gear practicality.
All I ask. Surely swords are on their way. Please. My Eivor is dying from exhaustion from having to carry all this extra and unnecessary fantasy weight.
Any Osprey art from their book series would make for a great reference. I am very disappointed there is so much over the top stuff going in relation to player character clothing.
I suffer from the same bug, too. i kept coming to dublin to help my silver without exploiting. I won't talk about how I feel about it and how frustrating it can make people feel but I find it jarring that no one had an idea to visit dublin during internal testing. Hopefully this can get fixed within few days.
I don't see it as an issue especially with how tedious and grueling river raids are. It's just a hog to go through them. An issue is player damage being inadequate for higher difficulties and enemies being massive sponges. Odyssey had more build flexibility to amend that. I prefer to have a good chance of going down in one or two hits while being able to do the same to an enemy instead of them taking a massive punishment while being able to take me down in one shot.
I certainly feel that immersion takes a hit, if that's your thing, in this case. But given the sensitivity issues it is understandable. I think it should be punishable through a gameplay mechanic, that ultimately ends up in your village getting obliterated by [censored] off Christians and game over. Desync isn't cool and it really doesn't let such horrible tendencies and actions carry any weight.
I didn't actively go after monks but some ended up a collateral in tight corridors. While it's not my thing and I don't have Christian-murdering fantasies the desync message warning wasn't cool to see. It literally happened in the heat of battle and it suddenly told me that I am about to get punished for collateral in non-combatants in a crowded raid...
Plate armor sets and two-handed swords in this game is kinda like giving an AR rifle to a late medieval knight. That should give you some perspective on how long between the period the game is set in and the development of plate armor and "two-handed" swords. Odyssey gets a pass given the time it's set in - fantasy elements really enhanced it but as we go to the periods we're more familiar with less grounded aesthetics actually kill the fantasy of the setting.
With that said I wish that in the near future we've got some simple and grounded armor and weapons for the sake of role playing as well as one handed swords.
This is a standard. Been discussed ad-nausem. It's not going anywhere. Be content or just don't buy a product. I have a bigger problem with the clothing and armaments in this game when it comes to historical accuracies. It's far worse than token characters in the name of diversity. xD
Game's been out for years now and there's been many requests for this. And there are many of us still hoping. I understand and appreciate that people enjoy the motorbike viking look inspired by the tv series or like wearing fantastical outfits. I am not arguing whether the armor sets we've got in the game are good or bad. It is an objective fact that most of them just aren't appropriate for the setting the story is supposed to be set in. I just implore the devs to give us the choice, especially now that it will be final chance to do so before the game will receive no more support.
There's been good few items in the game which would require just as much as a reskin to accomplish the objective at worst. At best, we could get new models but I am not picky at this stage.
With that said, I will just leave reference material (Osprey's art, as usual) and personal picks and hope that players can enjoy a somewhat "historical" outfit or two as part of the final send-off with the final DLC coming at some point in the future.
Chest: Ideally, I'd be delighted to see one set with two upgrade levels - a tunic, which would be blue Raven Clan (to be consistent and retain the "iconic look") without a leather jerkin on top of it. Second upgrade level would feature a byrnie without a vest with only a harness for the gear kept on the back. Keep the red sash.
Worst case scenario in this case is a reskin for level two a redditor made a shop of. Personally, I like it but a tunic on its own (reskin thrall's tunic?) would have been amazing to have.
Skin is clipping through the sleeves and it absolutely gives me the creeps in cutscenes and closeups. It looks like worms. I can't use this armor and do hope this can be addresse before the end of game support. Thanks

Will this get fixed for the siege of Paris? It really irks me. Judging by the date of the official post I would have expected it done by Sigrblot. :l

Imgur: The magic of the Internet Here are my viewpoints, there are 57 discovered as per the map you've linked. Pretty cool site, wish I knew sooner.
@ledoveeekladivo
f'course I have. But I am not sure about that - Muunin's eye is specific about England.
Hand counted and made notes and double checked as well as compared against online resources.
I have synced every single viewpoints that is in the game. Yet the challenge still showed 98/100.
There are 57 sync points on England and I've done them all.
Is this a common bug or I was unfortunate enough to run into Game / Uplay synchronisation problem? Would getting it hand-fixed by support help? I am a completionist and I do grind out my assassin's creed games for over a decade. :l
@gibbers08
Those are just distorted fish models. ^^
I understand that it's a very long process of creating an armor set in a video game that takes months from concept to modelling and texturing. However I can't help but to try and bring this up after recent river set update and a very disappointing st. George's set (which doesn't even have Roman aesthetic and instead made to reminisce a... Crusader templar (!). There were so many other options which could be retextured over the thegn set.
Is there no chance for a retex with less armor attachment for a set like Hunter's or Einherjar? Thrall's set textured to appear as a clean and fancier tunic with a non-furry cape? I would love an accurate Norse tunic to make it in a game in a near future. At this stage I lost hope for a byrnie. Do you think that game would look that bland if there was more inspiration from artistic reconstruction rather than fantasy tv shows?
