The most insane riot I've ever seen. Of course it would happen to ol' Willie! Consumed the entire island! 10,000 fist icons in the air!
This insane riot went on for days, both in game and real life. I don't know if the A.I. could have ever resolved it. Unfortunately a patch update basically cleared it all up. Was entertaining to watch.
Hey @BDDark, thanks for getting in touch and I am sorry to hear this as I fully appreciate the frustration this may cause after spending a lot of time on the game.
So that we could look into it further, may I double-check the following:
In the meantime, give the following steps a go (I acknowledged that you verified your game files already), and see if problem remains.
Keep us updated!
Hello, Karl, and thank you.
So I tried the steps you suggested, and unfortunately the campaign still crashes about 5 seconds after loading. I receive no error messages at all. Just straight to desktop and Ubisoft Connect tries to sync my cloud saves, same as if I had simply closed the application.
The only thing amiss is that upon loading, some textures and icons take a split second to load, and the textures are replaced by bright green (keep in mind my graphics drivers are up to date):
This was occurring before this particular crash which prevents me from continuing, but it is an anomaly that I don't see in other circumstances.
Just some further information, I recently bought Year 3, and I CAN'T confirm all this started with that DLC, but it does coincide. In the campaign I did a little of Docklands, just the buildings, did not start any trading at all. In Tourism I got up to Cafes, was one Hotel away from getting to Bars, and had placed the Iron Tower groundwork but hadn't started on it. Didn't start anything on High Life.
I actually went back to a save in the campaign before I had gotten Year 3 and it loads fine, doesn't crash, no bright green. When I loaded, the game did prompt me if I wanted to include the new DLCs, and I said yes with the exception of Docklands (not that I suspect that one, I just didn't feel it necessary), but I have NOT started any of the other DLCs. Game still runs fine with no errors. Will start Tourism again and see if things start going to Heck.
@pillepallemayer If you like peaceful, but don't want to live in an empty world, may I suggest playing with Bente, Qing, and Willie. They are the easiest AI. They will never declare war on you unless you really, really, REALLY try to anger them. They're easy to appease to get up to trading status, and all will join in one big happy alliance if you want. Another bonus is that they won't settle a new region until you go there, so there's no rush to beat them to the New World or Cape Trelawney, AND they ask you permission to settle an island first, which you can refuse if it's an island you want. You'll get a small hit to diplomacy, but it's easy enough to get those points back.
But, again, if you don't really care for encountering anybody, then you aren't missing out on anything aside from, as mentioned, some cool quest rewards.
So, basically the title.
For the past week, I've been having issues where the game would crash to desktop. No error warnings or pop-ups, just straight crash. This would happen within the first 30 minutes of playing, but once restarted, the game would run relatively well. Maybe another crash, but it would mostly run well after that.
Now I can't play my campaign anymore. Tonight it crashed, and trying to play again after that, it crashes about 5 seconds after the city loads, every time. It does this for my current campaign. If I start a new game it doesn't crash. I've put in a hundreds of hours in the campaign, so I'm not keen on just starting over, especially if this just happens again.
I verified game files to no luck.
Here's my save game file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o17dLv_ZdPobGXRt3_1iJYgAcc5EpPL1/view?usp=sharing: (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o17dLv_ZdPobGXRt3_1iJYgAcc5EpPL1/view?usp=sharing)
Hope something good comes out of it.
@tlenzen The AI cheat. Everything you see in their cities is mostly cosmetic. They don't have to build the proper buildings and establish the proper production chains in order to get what they need to do things. Harder AI like Silva and Hunt will cheat faster.
Tip: Find Archibald Blake quick, buy steel beams from him, use them to grab islands you want.
More info: the crashes still happen if I load an older save.
I agree. I like the light they added for the City Lights Pack DLC, but it doesn't really fit in well with industrial or Farmer residence areas. A plainer street lamp would be nice.
This entire book makes no sense.
I mean first off, Bonus Happiness is -3.
But more to it, "Residents consume 60% less Church, and Chapel." How do you consume less Church and Chapel?
I assume this might be some kind of joke item about Gregorian Calendars?

I know Anno 1800 is more about the Sandbox experience, but I did like the campaign, and have played it several times in between Sandboxes.
The Goode siblings have cleared their father's name, but the Pyrphorian threat is still out there, along with their mysterious Leader (whom we all suspect we know who it already is).
Are there plans to ever continue this along, or was the campaign really nothing more than an extended tutorial with a slapped on story and will never be expanded upon?
I'd like to see more, honestly. With the Empire of the Skies DLC, could be a great way to bring the Pyrphorians back! The enemy returning with a fleet of flame-throwing airships, which is the driving force in the campaign to get you building your air fleet? Sign me up for that story!
@humility925 The problem is that both myself AND my ally were both at peace with Anne Harlow when we both suddenly received a similar message: We were both told that our ally was now at war with Anne Harlow. I was told my ally was at war with Anne Harlow, and My ally was told I was now at war with Anne Harlow. But neither of us declared war on her, and both of us had a treaty with her.
You say you know that your ally didn't declare war on Anne, and that your ally is being told that you were the one who declared war. So your ally is another human being? No A.I. player is part of this alliance?
If it's just the two of you, it sounds like a bug. I've never known the pirates to break a cease-fire, peace treaty, or non-aggression pact.

@maxteriii Just keep searching. I know that's not much of a helpful answer, but really there's not much more to it.
I do enjoy the search quests, but they can get frustrating. You may get a radiant quest from a jornalero asking you to find his alpacas, or a farmer searching for her livestock. Sometimes you'll find them right away, other times you'll spend way too long searching and start wondering if they even spawned. It just happens.
@tlenzen I guess another option for a better experience is to find a map seed where Archibald is close to your starting location, so you know exactly where to go and can move as quickly as possible to the other islands you want. It is a little bit of a cheat on your part, but the AI cheats, so whatever.
So just wanted to ask others if they have experienced this.
I like to play with pirates set to Hard. La Fortune certainly fits the bill. He produces ships and a lot of them. He makes Gunboats, but more importantly he makes Frigates and Ships of the Line, as well as Monitors.
Anne, however, is very neutered. She only makes Gunboats. Does not build anything else for general pirate use. No Frigates, no Ships of the Line, or anything else sent out to harass everyone. She will build those stronger ship to sell. You'll see them occasionally just parked in her harbor. If an enemy attacks, they'll respond, but that's the only time you'll see anything other than a gunboat. If she ever builds two Extravaganza steamers then you won't see anything different again ever.
I'm experiencing this in my current campaign game, but also it's something that happened in my last play through, a sandbox game, I played last year. Was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?
