Yes, you'll lose everything... I just lost 7 hours of game just because of this. I'm sure the saves were different and were both present when I closed the game but when I restarted the game I only had the newest one in the saves. It's most likely a bug so be aware.

I had the same problem with my RTX 2080, I had 10fps with 20% gpu usage. I reinstalled the game and it's now working fine, if you preloaded the game you should try to reinstall too.
