The aim assist in this game is close to having your own aimbot. It’s literally an aimbot assist. It locks onto a target exactly the same as an aimbot providing you aim near a target.
Other multiplayer games like COD slow down a players crosshair as it nears a target which makes it easier to target enemies in multiplayer when aiming. It doesn’t lock onto a target. That’s how an ASSIST should behave. It’s an ASSIST not a damn aimbot.
That fact that aim assist locks onto targets in this game especially in PvP is destroying any sense of skill whatsoever.
Aim assist is being used by keyboard and mouse players as well as controller players.
Basically you can miss your targets all day long but the game will lock on for you and make sure your crappy aiming skills are rewarded with cheap kills in PvP.
Thought it needed calling out so I did. Not that it matters. It’ll fall on deaf ears as usual with the devs and maybe appeal to about 3 players left on these forums that actually play PvP to have a discussion about.
@yodaman3d
Please stop with the "crying" and "screaming" accusations. Stop being so condescending. People are going to give feedback and their personal point of views whether you agree or not. You're welcome to yours but please don't talk down to people as if they're a child.
The traps are not working as intended in PvP. That's why they're changing it. Most of the nerfs and buffs have resulted in a more diverse game.
And for the record, the traps aren't a "build". Its a skill. So no, this fantasy "build" you're talking about cannot be "made completely useless".
My games been freezing all week and frozen 4 times today after updating to latest nividia 30 series driver.

The video above is showing an invisible player taking the damage boost for the enemy team on the Georgetown map in the conflict game mode. I believe this glitch can also be done on the Wharf map.
The following video shows a player stuck in the garbage, in their own spawn point on Wharf, trying to evade mortar shells and accidentally becoming invisible. (getting stuck in the garbage makes you invisible)
It's worth noting that an invisible player can still damage the enemy players with their skills and from their own perspective, look completely visible but the enemy cannot see them.
@modalthread611 You aren't using big enough words, so everyone understands what you are saying. You got spanked in the DZ and instead of learning how to beat it, you want it nerfed.
It's not your playstyle so you want to punish those who enjoy using SBs of any kind. So you scream for nerfs. Totally ignoring the fact that some players have invest some time into putting those builds together. It was mentioned above of how to build against it and yet you didn't like that idea. So instead of beating them, you want them nerfed. Instead of crying for Nerfs, why not find a better way of beating them. Nerfings don't anything to improve the game.
Nerfings don't do anything to improve this game? Build diversity says otherwise.
@yodaman3d
"According to what I have read here, it is related to "A Build" in PvP."
It has nothing to do with any build you could possibly come up with for those traps. The skill itself is not working as intended.
The problem with the explosive traps is that they're far too strong when not spec'd into. Like an all red or blue build with absolutely zero trade offs into a skill core, skill damage, haste and explosive damage.
Any skill in the game should be strong when spec'd into and weak when not and these explosive traps can one shot players without a single spec into them.
Name me another skill that can one shot players without a single spec into it. Then hopefully you'll see the point. This is why the traps are being brought in line with the rest of the skills in game. How is this hard to understand?
@modalthread611
"Just give up, this person does not get it. Nor will they."
Just take your own advice. Not that it matters anyway. The developers themselves acknowledged the problem. The traps are being changed and that's that.
Funny how PvE versus PvP discussions always turn into fights between the two camps. People that played this game long enough can't ignore post from @YodaMan3D because what he stated is exactly what it is. PvE players don't ask for nerfes and if you think that this game is ever going to be balanced, then dream on. All the stuff in this game is like a bag of apples, when you are allowed to pick 5 it will always to be the same ones that weight the most. Balancing is impossible given the infinite amount of possibilities, at best then can create some sort of leveled playing field. But after every change, like picking another bag of apples, only one combination turns out to be on top.
As for original discussion about skills, nobody likes to fight against automated (overpowered) skills, that isn't what Player versus Player is about. I haven't played in DZ (only TD1) because I think that PvP in this game is rather silly. And having this animation before you enter the zone is the silliest one of all, you're just a sitting duck but others can already see and hit you. For me it's the same stupidity like NPCs that become immune for some reason, it really doesn't make any sense in shooters.
This isn't true whatsoever. For starters to say "PvE players don't ask for nerfs" is a complete lie. I can and will if necessary, pull up countless posts to prove its a lie. Secondly, Yoda has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to anything PvP related. I ignore pretty much everything he says. I'd also agrue with anyone that after each and every update the game becomes more balanced in both PvP and PvE. Theres been countless nerfs and buffs over the years and it resulted in a more diverse game.
It's clear to me some people on this forum are just super salty about anything PvP related. The explosive traps need bringing in line with other skill builds. It's that simple. They should be powerful when spec'd into and not so much so when not. A blue or red build with zero spec's into skill damage should not be as powerful as it is now. It's way out of balance. The developers themselves even acknowledged this.

Aim assist is baked into the game by the developers so it’s far from a 3rd party software hack.
I’m not bashing on players using aim assist as like I said, it’s baked into the game.
Using 3rd party software like synapse to trick your computer into thinking your m&k is a controller is another discussion.
My issue is how aim assist works whether you’re on a m&k or controller and specifically only in PvP.
The fact that the in game aim assist snaps to a target should be changed. It’s too easy for snipers and pistol/bulwark users to get easy, no effort, one shot kills.
@imagine_brata
That is correct.
However, you can download various software programs, many of them like the Razor Synapse, that let will you re-map controller buttons to your mouse and keyboard so the game thinks you're playing on control pad. So yeah, M&K & aim assist is entirely doable and is becoming more frequent.
My issue isn't M&K players with aim assist. My issue is how aim assist works in this game. It should not lock on to targets in PvP. It's that simple.
This is how aim assists should work in PvP (As they aim near a target their aim sensitivity slows down) -

@tauro-ulti
That SHD level is entirely possible & whatever they name their character is irrelevant when claiming "blatant hacks". Your illogical baseless assumptions are slander and it's you people that do this who need calling out for it. You're on the same level of toxicity as the cheaters.
I want to stress that I'm in no way defending cheaters. They ruin the experience for everyone both in PvE and PvP and if caught, they should be hardware banned.
@boomslang
Can you PM me the link that got removed? I'd like to take a look.
@boomslang
And on the flip side, There's 10 x more players that cry cheats because they don't understand how the mechanics of the game works or simply cannot except the fact that other players are just simply better than they are. I experience it daily.
@haywardgg "Watched that video at 0.25 speed as you suggested and to be honest I don't see any cheating. Sure there could be some hardware aim assist going on in parts where you see the cursor snap-on (I saw it twice, possibly could have been lag related too?"
It's how the in game aim assist feature works and is fully software related since its an option in game in the settings menu. The way it works in this particular game is that it literally snaps to target when enabled.

"You clowns just don't like skills, because you are incapable of adapting or countering."
"I'm glad Massive doesn't care about PvP at all"
I have multiple skill builds & multiple counters to PvP players. I also have more PvP kills than you'll ever have. It's not us "clowns not liking skill builds". It's you guys that are salty about anything PvP related.
"I roll through the DZ, and thanks to this thread, I now carry traps to cover my six or drop on the rope. It's great, and the PvP sweats are too whiny to just use the myriads of counters. I hope they keep it as is, but I've already posted how I think Skills should be balanced, as well as DZ changes that should happen. But they don't hold the delicate hands of the thin skinned gankers, so they just cry instead."
https://tracker.gg/division-2/profile/uplay/LateNiteDelight/overview: (https://tracker.gg/division-2/profile/uplay/LateNiteDelight/overview)
You have zero PvP kills, 6 rogues kills in the DZ and have played a total rogue time of 15 mins and you're in here telling everyone how skills should work in PvP, claiming players don't know how to counter & that you "roll through the DZ" with those traps to "cover your 6" . LOL, embarrassing.
@echolecter
"Congratulations you found a few ... nearly lost count." - A deeper search would find more. I've seen countless posts about balance changes from PvE players and on the flip side, I've seen balance changes to PvE in each and every title update that no PvP player asked for. These changes are made by the data the developers collect.
"Plenty of alternatives for all weapon types" - Are you just going to ignore why this is? See above.
