205 hours, 205 friggin hours. Thats how long it has taken to pretty much do the entire game. 205 hours and all it felt like I was doing was going on one treasure hunt after another. It is so very clear to see this installment of assassin's creed is by far the worst. So contradictory and illogical with the sole purpose of the game to waste time. Playing odyssey, I thought was great if not the best installment. Genuine decisions that would cause different outcomes. This rubbish, off all the dialect in the 200+ hours, there are maybe half a dozen decisions that have an actual affect on the outcome. The game has been made more adult in one hand by becoming more brutal, great but then you screw that up by putting a seriously childish dialog. I kept getting told not to kill civilians, why, you think vikings would not kill civilians?. These damned ridiculous side quests that take up at least 3 quarters of the game time, absolutely ridiculous anomaly puzzles, crazy, never in a million years rooms, designed in a way that it really does make the game seem like it was managed by children that don't have a first clue about construction. Maybe you should give up this job and go back to your sand pit child.
To create a game with the sole purpose to wast the consumers time is just wrong. Rockstar have gone overboard with it and now I refuse completely to ever even considering spending money on their games, same as Bethesda (now Microsoft). You developers seem to forget, not only are there many other developers out there, more and more are created every few years. So, ubisoft, its been a blast but I think I will waste my time else where. You should be ashamed of this attempt, filled with bugs, glitches and really stupid ideas/decisions.

Auto aim is so random on this, I know it gives options of full, partial, light and off but it seems no matter what option I select it is still completely random. Sometimes it will fully auto aim, some times zero assistance there most times I can start aiming in full but all most as soon as you pull the L2 trigger and auto aim activates, it stops and you have to aim manually.
The fighting sections are also so randomised, eg, sometimes it is skittish, feels like it is trying to turn into a action sequence while also trying to be player controlled. In the options I have turned off the action sequence for assassinations as there are far too many occasions I want to look in a certain direction but even with on or off, the action sequence still activates. I have turned off camera shaking but that still happens and finally, what on earth is with this, oh let's keep their level secret until the fight begins. Now we shall put a recommendation of level 50 oh but the animals, lerions and zealots we will put at a ridiculously high level. Go to jotunheim, recommended level of 190, oh but we will put a level 400 beast in there and not say anything. Seems like you are literally trying to force our character to die many times. At least let us know their level so we can decide if we're ready or not

@yazx_ apologies for the late response. Yes 205 hours, that is because I took my time to thoroughly explore everything. I have played every installment of AC so no, im not new to it. But after origins and odyssey I genuinely thought as they have more battles then surely, vikings, who all they wanted to do was fight, would be more brutal but have now suddenly become silent assassin's again. Either one or the other but to make a viking a silent killer, not sure it fits somehow.
I'm angry with the way it has become kinda lazy for the developers to put large quantities of silly easy to do tasks that seem to have no logic at all. How many rooms do you need to climb into, quite a difficult climb too and see it is being used, lit candles, desks, chairs massive chests? No logical explanation there, just random rooms designed to make things take longer. I don't mind things taking longer as providing it makes sense. All of those red roman tents they have been using since at least origins, the stupid [censored] anomaly puzzles I was so sure they done away with after AC Unity but then doubles down on them and make them a 'must do'. OK maybe I was a little harsh, but being such a big history fan, and vikings being one of my favourite topics, I just expected more. You can not argue that the dialog is seriously childish and that a lot of this game just does not make sense. I have played almost every ubisoft game but unfortunately it seems they are going the way of rockstar and other greedy developers and seeing what is easiest to do, minimal effort for maximum profit and, for me at least, I feel it is destroying the point of games.
About 20 hours in on the ps4 and now getting the "Raven not available" message. Reloading does fix this but really should not be necessary. How is it as we progress, games become more and more unreliable? Come on ubisoft, you're much better than this
@catalyst_14 thats my main frustration, wouldn't be so bad if it was a terrible game, but the game is fantastic like most of ubisofts works, but this definitely has the most bugs/glitches by far. Hopefully they get most of it smoothed out soon, might just go back to odyssey for a while until valhalla gets fixed
Same here, got to the gate in lunden only for it to appear as if it is going to a cut scene but instead it spends a few minutes on the loading screen then you reappear at the same gate but all you can do is move the camera around. Eivor will not move, no raven, no fast travel option. Just have to reload your previous save and hope that you do not lose too much in the process
Actually, another thing, I know you want to challenge and make things a little difficult where possible but surely you also want to have it all make sense, so that we think, well yeah, that could happen. Well, I really would like to know, how on earth it is possible to have so so many rooms/huts/cottages with the doors barricaded from the inside with no other way out yet no a single person, dead or alive on the inside of that room/building to explain just how that door became barricaded in the first place. Same for all the second/third floor rooms with massive heavy furniture in yet no way in there other than som ladders? Where are we exactly, hogwarts?
Well people, ubisoft were once my fave game developers, unfortunately they have decided to follow Rockstars lead and spend more time on creating things that drag the game out and wastes time. All of the stupid stupid locations for these wealth chests, very few make any kind of sense on how they ended up being there in the first place. Yes so, we shall build a building with 4 floors, have loads of big heavy furniture on the top floor, a massive impossible to lift chest and then, make sure there is no logical means of how they got there in the first place. Ubisofts focus has been so dedicated on creating things that just waste time they have not realised just how ridiculous it has become. I'm not into playing a game where they force you to take longer than necessary just because they are too damn lazy to create something challenging and that actually makes sense. As I am now 150 hours into this ridiculous game, I shall finish it, but I think it is safe to say, like rockstar games, ubisoft will not receive another penny from me.

@kormac67 we all have different ways of looking at things. Personally, if I start something I want to see it through. Some times I have my mind changed. This time I didn't. Yes it is a good game to a certain level, I did enjoy aspects of it. Unfortunately it is so badly done, with so much aim at trying to drag things out when it wasn't needed. The early games, there was just as much game play time, no micro transactions, very few bugs/glitches, and I didnt feel like it was more aimed at wasting my time rather it kept me entertained, challenged and enthralled with the surroundings. This is a sorry attempt with little to do other than roam around the countryside and fish. Cant even kill civilians? A viking? If you enjoy that maybe you should stick to farming simulator

Same issue here, been happening for at least the last month

@eggknobble I managed to just swim in there, then swim around the room collecting the loot even though no water.
Tried a few times with this now, tried to fast travel and go back, tried to reload a previous save point and go back but each time, I get just behind the waterfall and the game thinks I am swimming in thin air. At this point, you can not go out of the waterfall, nor can you proceed to the treasure. The only way out is to reload or fast travel. Please fix, and pretty please, before ubisoft releases a game, ensure it actually works. This has been a massive massive let down for ubisoft, I can only hope this is a one off
Ok, so this is not so much a bug but a trend that pretty much all developers stick too. Using the same action button too often and for conflicting actions. I am on the quest of kidnapping Estrid, now try to put her on your horse. The command for placing her on the horse, is the exact same as placing her on the ground. Why do this when the horse moves so much its like it has a feather up its rear? Result, after 10 attempts and lots of killing, I managed to place her on the horse. There is other buttons, rarely used throughout the game but oh, let's leave those and pile all the actions on to as few command buttons as possible. You got the press and R3 command to place an explosive/sabotage something as well as odins vision. Result? Placing explosives instead of using odins vision. This doesn't affect you too much, just a little annoying when so many times you want to do one thing, but your character does something else. You do know pressing and holding L3 does absolutely nothing? Might have made more sense to use L3 for one command and R3 for the other. With just a little more thought and better organisational skills, you should be able to sort this out quite easily
This is winding me up so much. Every single time without fail, when there are more than one enemy, this ability will literally go for the weakest opponent. I get one of the big opponents first, I use the ability and every time it jumps over the much harder opponent and comes down on a weaker opponent further away. Sometimes, it won't even go on the opponent, but straight over and onto the floor. The same as when I go to perform an assassination, it shows the harder opponent, I press the R1 and for some silly reason it will jump over the harder opponent, letting them know I am there and lands on a weaker opponent further away.
