Having played the game for a couple of days now I have an idea for a location that could possibly be added as a DLC that might be a pefect fit. I am from a county in the far North of Scotland called Caithness (known to the Norwegian vikings that settled here as Katanes) historical record has the settlement date as around the 10th century which puts it very close to the time period the game is set in, and it is referenced in the Orkneyinga Saga as well, but other than that there is little recorded history from that time meaning there is plenty of room for a narrative to take place there without historical constraints. An additional boon is that there are maps available with the traditional Norse names, and the Picts instead of Saxons are the local culture. To replace the Roman ruins as a backdrop there are numerous neolithic Brochs and burial mounds that exist in the area, also there are many castles that were Norse in origin dotted around the coast, even ones that are later in design today were likely built on top of earlier sites. Coincidentally as well as interestingly, Caithness has had 2 symbols associated with it historically and even now is present on the county flag, and that is a ship and a raven, which could help tie it to the games raven clan.
I personally think that Caithness would be an interesting choice as opposed to utilising more traditionally recognised former Viking settled areas like Orkney or Shetland which are usually more represented in writings and media, although if you chose to do them all together that could also be very interesting too. Hopefully this will get seen by a staff member but if not, anyone who does read this, cheers for reading my thoughts!
