@acsmercurydawn I feel the same way, but I only sprung for one month to check it out. One day of playing RS+ is already making me miss RS14 that I just played three days ago
Exactly my experience so far, same here I used to do non-stop for about an hour a day. With RS+ everything seems like a chore. I both like and dislike the fact that RS+ requires more accurate playing ... most of my errors are coming from not holding they note as long as I should ... RS14 in most cases would give you the note if you just hit it for any length of time. And I'm missing the note timing more ... feels like RS+ requires hitting the start of a note much closer than RS14, too close in fact ... as those msecs are going to vary considerably from one computer to another. I will admit that RS+ does require me to play the song more accurately, which is not necessarily a bad thing .... but I wish there was a way to adjust this aspect of the game.
I've got one more week to finish out my month ..... I'd say it's about 80/20 I'm going to drop it. $15 a month is a lot to pay to beta test their product and have maybe a dozen songs I really want to play ... most of which I already have on RS14.
OK, by now I'm sure Ubi is aware of the general feeling of their customers.
Are they going to handle things going forward the same as they have handled this title since it was announced? Will there be any news on updates? Any news on expansions of the catalog? Are there going to be weekly releases as touted in the original media? Is the code of silence going to continue?
Seems like a LOT of the bad blood could be reduced by at least telling folks .. yes we hear you, this is what we plan, this how we are going to handle things. So far it still feels like this game is going to be Abandonware and shortly be flushed down the toilet. Are they going to see how much cash they can squeeze out of people and then just slowly disappear? I assume if they accepted year long subs that they at least have to support it for that long.
I guess one upside of RS+ is now when I go back and play RS14 it seems better than ever Probably not what they intended when they created RS+ .. but it is what it is.
After two days of play I realize this is no longer a game for people that actually play guitar .. it's kind of a cartoon, crayon thing for beginners. It feels like it's of no use to me. Feels so dumbed down. I don't think this is by mistake, for those of us that have been using RS for years ... time to move on, this is not what we were hoping for I don't think. I just don't think Ubi is going for the same customer base anymore.
Too much missing here, it doesn't feel right, feels like I'm in some weird corporate metaverse deluged with graphic nonsense and no information. I had to go back and play some RS14 to get the bad taste out of my ears and eyes.
Would have been so easy to just adapt RS14 to the subscription model, make a few tweaks and be done with it. This new product feels bloated, clunky and missing the tools that you could actually use to get better at your craft.
Shame the Devs of the original RS versions didn't get together and start their own company. This just needs a lot of work, it no longer feels like I can just sit down, fire it up and start playing. I've got a month to get used to it ... maybe I will, maybe it will improve ... I'm not optimistic. Maybe I haven't discovered everything it will do? I wish it just had an "RS14 Mode"
But, time marches on, I'm not so sure Ubi cares a whole lot about the people they already sucked money out of with the previous versions .... money that was well spent by the way.
@Danny-Ramone Yep this forum format seems horrible, half the information in twice the space.
Yep, just canceled my sub, not going to pay $15 month each month waiting for things to improve. X's 10 on the screwing up an easy win.
@ZIXN1TR0XIZ They are using the old "Start with Your Worst" marketing ploy .... it's based on the theory that if you start out really really bad, that it can only get better later. Seriously ... I think that library is made up of stuff that they probably already had rights to, or stuff that was basically being given away, like the discount bin at a record store. I think they may be depending on sales income to purchase more songs ... but I think Ubi is going to take that money and keep it.
I think from Ubi's perspective RS+ has already been thrown in the dumpster and we are just climbing in looking for stuff. They are going to play this out until all their contractual agreements are fulfilled and then it will be over. I'd bet in the next few months we will probably see them stop accepting one year subscriptions since they know they will not be supporting the title much longer.
@gokhan1999 RS+ is just plain not the same product, not for the same people, not any good ... should be called LameSmith+
I had such high hopes for this product and it turned out to be such garbage. Waited for 18 excited months for this turd.
I would encourage everyone to contact Ubi corporate offices and let their opinions be known because I think they have do idea how this current product is absolutely destroying the brand.
@GuitarNub Just opinion really, but based on a lot of years of watching the industry and how it handles game development and marketing. I really, really wanted RS+ to be what they said it was going to be. Perhaps their timeline is far longer than I think, but usually you put your best foot forward first if you are committed to a title ... I'm just not seeing it. There is a very visible lack of ongoing investment in the title, zero indication of future development, really just one of the most bizarre title releases I have ever seen from a major publisher in the gaming world.
I think their end goal is, and always was, a paid subscription to a User created content server ... in other words .. CDLC you have to pay for, but with some basic oversight from Ubi talent. And I don't think it's going to work. While Ubi is addressing functionality issues with the title, payment issues, platform issues ... pretty much nothing addressing lack of quality content, lack of information going forward as to the development, new song titles, when we can expect what etc etc.
The whole thing has got me baffled.
I'd suggest looking at the list before anyone gets excited ... looks like another load of excrement to me.
Just kidding, still the same garbage. But just think .. only 992,000 songs to go to hit that "Millions of songs" mark! At the current drop rate it will only be 5,940 years until they hit a million, I can't wait! I'm so excited. Let's get started planning the big celebration in the year 7962! Hopefully a time machine will be invented by then so I can go back in time and play RS14 ... which will still be better than RS+.
I don't think there is anyone charting, or anyone getting licenses. I don't think Ubi is working on this title at all, I think it's in the dumpster already.
@h4k0ni Make sure your audio output is through an audio jack, not any USB device. But you are right, nothing worth playing anyway. Don't be so hard on Ubi, it looks like they worked very hard to make this big of a fail
Good point about RS14 ... RS+ is definitely a different product that appears to be geared toward a different audience. At this point Ubi should find a way to just update RS14, I think they are still selling it right? But at some point .... I think most people will transition to that other site. I haven't been there in years ... I'm betting the quality of submissions has gone up a lot.
RS+ is basically a go-fund-me for Ubi. Wish they could have at least thanked us for the donation. If the latest "song drop" is any clue ... this title will be dead in a couple of months. The experiment has failed ... well, unless the goal was to make money on a title they stopped developing 18 months ago and plan to abandon ... in which case the experiment succeeded.
Yeah ... I saw what is listed in their "new releases" list today ... 14 more garbage tunes that no one wants to play. Just pathetic. I can only hope there is going to be a big push before the holiday buying season to improve RS+. Unfortunately I cannot check out any improvements or even download the new version without paying to resub ... what a train wreck.
