I just want to say that with how awesome Odyssey was, I didn't expect you'd ever beat it. But there are many things changed, that were improved upon during Odyssey's time and I cannot fathom why they weren't in from the beginning in Valhalla.
General changes that make the game feel really bad:
I could go on but this is already really long. So here's some stuff I already miss from Odyssey, so much that I'd rather go back to it than keep playing Valhalla:
Sorry this was so long, and sorry if any readers disagree. I just wanted to take a minute to express how change isn't always good. I went from Origins (pretty good), to Odyssey (10/10), to Valhalla (wait... what? It's Syndicate + Origins). I don't know. I really hope you guys can make some quick changes as I didn't even cover the incredible and almost unreal amount of bugs nad game breaking issues and crashes in this. It's bad, really bad. Which is a shame because so far the story-telling is great too.
For now though, I think I'm going back to Greece.
Hey, just wondering if we're ever going to see a patch? It's been a week.
I could keep going, but those are some things that should have been very easy to fix in a week. The most dire being the textures and lots of people just not getting a wingsuit. I can't believe it's taken this long, or why you've been doing this. Same thing happened in AC Valhalla. Why? Is it so you can have a bigger list? People with game breaking bugs shouldn't have to wait a week for something to get fixed it should be hotfixed. So PLEASE just release a fix today. The ole 'week one" patch. And please... I know you're in bed with AMD but do not do this to Nvidia players. Fix the textures that you know we can run just fine. No other game, with much nicer graphics, needs more than 8Gb of Vram including Microsoft Flight Simulator which is hard to distinguish from real life it's so good. Most people use Nvidia so sandbagging them isn't going to cause them to run and buy an AMD card even if that was possible (which it isn't, so fix the textures).
so awesome that it's been 11 days, and there's still no fix to this. dear Ubisoft, in the off chance you actually care, can we get a fix for this? I also still don't have a wingsuit... so that's fun... wonder if we will ever get a chance? Maybe I should jsut wait until there's a New Game + that apparently will never be in a Far Cry game at launch? I would have started over if I hadn't already put 20 hours in before getting to the wingsuit. Or if I had thought for one minute that you wouldn't be patching the game for weeks after launch.
@california_dude Agree on all those points of additional complaints! I loved actually being and referring to myself as a God lol, that was great and felt right. The cutscenes thing, it is a bit excessive at points that's for sure, but I think the thing that makes it even worse for me is all the steps required to change a tattoo or buy a few arrows (because I can't craft them... thanks Ubi). They should allow pressing ESC to get out of these "conversations". So it would be more like: buy stuff > esc > esc... whereas right now it's: buy stuff > esc > space > 2 > space (with esc sometimes thrown in there out of habit from every game I've ever played which leads to pause screen).
@kmansp31 so glad I'm not alone on the loot-puzzle thing lol. I felt like I was whining, but it really is infuriating. I mean, the least they could do is denote whether something is locked loot (needs a key), locked loot (needs a quest, then a key), and whether it's a weapon or a armor piece. So many times now I've rage-quit because I'll go and do all these things kill all these enemies that were +150 levels over me or something, collect a key, and the key doesn't even unlock the chest. Like... come on lol. It's a shame I have to think this way, but history, so I partially wondered whether some decisions were made by the suits to entice people into buying new stuff instead.
I've noticed the bird thing being the most odd choice for me to write, suppose I'm the outlier there lol.
And the gear, exactly, a nice middle ground would have been fantastic. Like, a nice share of world drops instead of all locked/unlocked/puzzled chests everywhere would have made it feel good.
@mitsunari3 omg this, yes, I forgot about that and how stupidly annoying it is to deal with in 2020. Either make them invincible (probably don't trust themselves not to mess that part up, understandable) or stop the idiotic "de-sync" stuff.
Also, I still get PTSD when near a bunch of chickens lol.
Are you guys kidding me? I'm very happy that we got some (2 month later) fixes. The game does seem more responsive and fluid which is great!
Those are just a few things, that I've wanted since the beginning. Two of them being things are standard, common sense, or already exist in a game running on the same tech. It's been months guys, and it gets SUPER old painstakingly switching piece by piece, rune by rune, especially when runes have no order whatsoever.
@akira1364 same happening to me, I thought it was the 3440x1440 causing it. Even if it is its unacceptable especially when there are other massive texture issues (that are in now way tied to the HD texture pack).
Was really hoping to sign in today and find a day 1 patch for this and enemy spawns but I guess a studio that hugecan't tweak those things in 24 hours or something.
All of the helpful folks saying it's HD texture pack and VRAM running out because they read it on a media site that didn't properly test the game just simply looked at allocated/requested statistics, really need to pay attention. THIS HAPPENS WITH, OR WITHOUT, HD TEXTURES EVEN INSTALLED. It is not an OOM issue, or entire swathes of screen would look like that, not specific little things that are always going to be close to the player's line of sight like dashboard items and speedometers... it'd be trees and shrubs and stuff further away.
I have an RTX-2080/i9-10900k/32Gb 3600 ram/NvME drive and have everything maxed except shadows and volumetric lighting, at 3440x1440, and have a buttery smooth 90+ fps. If it was running out of memory I'd feel hitching and stuttering as it tried to swap the textures but I don't. I even put the resolution scaler to 1.2 just as a I did in Far Cry 5 and am still above 60 and buttery smooth. If I was out of memory it would have happened on other games where it's close - and there's a lot of them where I see that 7700 used out of 8000.
AC Valhalla Bugs
These are just a few things, from one day. Really sad there hasn't been a recent patch, especially for the movement. Something really needs to be done. Everything you try to do ends up sucking really bad because of the movement system being so awkward. Odyssey's was perfect, I don't see how it can be so different now. But I guess because stamina, which means sprint needs a button. I also don't know if it happens on controllers but for M/KB it's the worst experience I've ever had trying to navigate areas. Just randomly stop climbing until you let go of what you're doing and then mash SHIFT + W + SPACE (+ sometimes A or D).
yep- same problem. looks like we're getting that typical Ubisoft Cold Fix technique. Can't call it hot because for some reason they will never releases fixes in a timely manner. Had no wingsuit for like 4 weeks when the game launched until we finally got a patch. Now this. If they don't start updating their games faster I'm going to quit buying them in a timely manner and wait until they're dirt cheap instead of preordering the best version. I hate to sound so negative but I have better things to do than to write on Ubisoft forums for every single one of their games.
If you can create new things to sell for real money weekly, you can fix problems that should never have been released into a public build, weekly.
Hard to list them all, but I'd say first and foremost making weather cosmetic only. I can't even count how many times I'll be in a good groove, having fun doing something, then boom, here comes snow, then rain, then wet roads and winds. Nothing worse than that. If I have the patience I'll go change looks of a car or try to find a race that has forced weather.
Another thing that drives me insane is that, despite Summits being 'PvP', I have to end up watching videos to see where all the glitches are in order to be competitive. That makes so little sense to me... I can especailly bet this week's will be awful with all the vehicle forced (completely negating the hundreds of hours spent making builds). When things are fair, like on speed tours, I regularly get in the 1500's. But if there's a glitch I'm missing I'll be at 5000 in a heartbeat. Just sucks. As a continuation of Summits and fair, you shouldn't be allowed to slipstream another player. That is just ridiculous. I can't wait for Forza 5 to release because at this point I'm longing for being able to ghost through player cars. Traffic should also be removed from everything summit related.
I'd also kill for a search bar, or UI overhaul that makes it not the most horrific thing on earth when looking for a specific SR car. The filters take so long to adjust sometimes, that it's not much faster than slow-scrolling.
I'd kill for the 60fps ancient cap to be removed as well, considering I game at 144hz.
That's just a few, but going to go see if the "3 hour" maintenance has completed yet as it wasn't done at 3 hours 22 minutes.
@obu42 This, tbh.
The multitude of things left as 'acceptable' is kind of crazy.

@wildhunt Nope, media places don't test everything the way they should because if they did, they'd see this happens with or without HD Textures enabled or even installed. I have fast internet, i tried, it did nothing. It's something in the engine/code doing it.

So here we are, my second restart because of game ruining bugs. The first 60 HOURS, I figured out keys that were being collected from the environment, were not actually in my inventory and couldn't be used. They'd disappear from the world, and not show up again, but not be able to be unlocked.
Now (65 hours in, for a total now of 120ish hours), my settlement is at 5/6. Every single raid has been completed, and I have no 'banners' hanging out that can be interacted with to upgrade multi-tier places like the farms, all allies that offer settlement XP have been completed already, the last guests you get are there, and I'm quite sure my feast even registers as maxed but not my entire settlement. I will list the buffs I get.
