I absolutely HATE this feature in Ubi games along with the other hand-holding stuff (wallhack, floating x-ray tags, alert clouds, fire alert, grenade alert etc.) All these super powers ruin the game and spoil immersion. As long as we have the menu option to disable this then its all good as I know other gamers like it.
For the rest of us - where is the fun and challenge if you have x-ray vision and can see the enemy through walls?!
The game is just tedious BS that is buggy, includes too many game mechanisms that DO NOT complement the game, or the seriousness of it's plot and premise.
When the first trailer dropped it has serious undertones. The hardships people face IRL in Cuba and then also Venezuela (which is what the trailer riots reminded me of). Then I saw the villain and he looks great too a tyrant. So I was hopeful that the series was taking a welcome slightly more serious tone.
Yea. Really. Then I saw the first footage of the "rebels" who sound like and dress they were all plucked from a university campus party followed by news of the combat rooster and the other two "companions" and knew it was all downhill from there.
So on one side it is trying to illustrate serious issues like life under a tyrant but on the other its a cartoon when you have the option of fighting with a backpack rocket launcher & a cart-towing dog.
Absolutely inexcusable. How was this feature even designed into the game? To think that we thought FC2 was the last time we saw this kind of nonsense. It ruined that game and its ruining this one. Just why why? Someone in the design team said "Thats a great idea lets make the bad guys respawn as soon as Dani turns away!"
Oddly enough this problem is not there (as others have pointed out) in other Ubi titles like GRBP, AC Odyssey, FC Primal, FC5 etc.
I really hope this gets sorted out quickly. If an enemy in a camp gets dropped they should STAY dropped, until the whole camp is cleared.
But please Ubi - let the bodies of enemies STAY there for that entire gaming session (persistence) which also adds immersion. You should be able to go back to that camp 2 hours later (if in the same game session) and those bodies should STILL be there.
I havent got the game yet but this bullet system sounds so silly. I am gonna just ignore all the other bullets and just get the AP ones.
Even with the other rounds - a direct headshot should be a one-hit kill.
I agree, the takedowns are better in older FCs.
I dont know why they even bother with blood effects when even in an 18 rated game there is no body-damage to enemies. No realistic bullet wounds and no dismemberment when using heavy weapons or boshing the enemy with a machete. So the weapons are pretty much just window dressing, different only in their stats.
This is yet another Airsoft Simulator.
Who remembers the saw-blade launcher in New Dawn? The expectation was that it would slice a leg or arm off the enemy considering that you know its a circular sawblade launched at high velocity.
Nope. Enemy just falls over intact.
@flanker1six I just cannot take the way the "rebels" look and act. Like you said its like they took a wrong turn and thought it was a college after party.
Game cant make up its mind. Shows a serious launch trailer of a country in upheaval with a psycho tyrant brainwashing his son.
However on the other side are these joke characters with cartoon animal "companions" & Just Cause-style weapons like a backpack multiple rocket launcher.
I find many of the characters very interesting, the story telling exceptional and chillingly reflective of the kinds of things that would go down in an authoritative society. It's a subtle story perhaps and doesn't have the craziness of Vass or Min, but at it's core its chilling.
This is what confuses me about this game. When the first trailer dropped it was chilling. The riots echoing the unrest in places like Venezuela - in fact it looked almost exactly like the mass rioting in Caracas. The dictator is very well played (but as with all FC games we see too little of them). So I got the impression that the game was going to feel more serious.
Then came the combat rooster, a crocodile, a cart towing dog, "rebels" that act/look like its a beach party, backpack rocket launchers, insta respawn enemies, dumb enemy AI etc.
In stark contrast to that first trailer. The game cant seem to make up its mind.
It is now a Just Cause 4 expansion to me and I treat it is as such. I really really wish it could have felt more chilling.
We need an "immersive mode" (similar to GR Breakpoint) without these RPG elements where:
- We can only carry 2 weapons that have one-hit headshot kill no matter what kind of round
- There are no super powers like xray vision, "tagging", alert clouds and any of the other HUD Superman skills (should not be available in the menu while in Immersive Mode) HUD elements like compass are fine.
- No clown weapons like guns with motorcycle engine and backpack rocket launcher (they shouldn't appear in Immersive Mode)
- Where AA cannot shoot you down when flying 2cm off the ground
- No cartoon animals like combat rooster, attack croc and 2 leg dog (they shouldn't appear in Immersive Mode)
I'm not saying remove the above - I'm saying give us a menu item choice. This way both kinds of gamer are happy! Come on Ubisoft it will add such replayability to your games and bring in more buyers.
Far Cry 2 had some horrible annoyances like insta respawns, malaria that got annoying after a while, enemies with 100% accuracy from 2km away while you were in a moving vehicle & constantly being attacked (athough these are present in the other FCs too) to name a few.
However it had something that was lost from all the following far crys: a clean screen and immersion.
No hand holding HUD telling you where to go and what to do. Look at your map!
No magical super powers giving you xray vision and in-game wall hack
No magical tagging
No fantasy weapons
An actual in-game map. You could be attacked while looking at it.
No psychotic animals attacking you ALL THE TIME.
FC3 was also brilliant and what made it that way is the legendary Ziggy Mod which made it more real and brutal. For one thing it removed the cartoon sniper lasers (another Ubi hand holding attempt) which made fights very tense cos you had no idea where they were and had to be careful.
FC4 was fun but I found the real hero was Pagan Min, hated Amita and Sabal and wanted to butcher them both so annoying and whiny. Pagan is just awesome but tragically we saw too little of him
FC5 - nice open world but crap game mechanic where they have that "kidnap" function to make you run through a rats maze at certain points. Whose idea was this? I even got teleported out of a plane! The villains were a joke and so was the story.
FC6 - again the real star of the show is the map. Ubi is very good at this. But the story....what a missed opportunity. The very first trailer gave the vibe that this was gonna be a tense more serious Far Cry. All that was shot down once the subsequent reveals showed pet croc, attack chicken, cart-dog & "rebels" that came from an EDM festival and were handed guns. More excessive hand-holding superpowers (but I appreciate many can be turned off) and annoying decisions like going to 3rd person view...in a Far Cry game! Also just crazy thats theres no dismemberment. Once again we have an Airsoft Simulator.
One good feature FC6 has is that you can put away your weapon and not be constantly attacked.
Heres whats needed - a completely separate Immersive Mode. In this mode:
- There should be no HUD (to remove all the hand holding like x-ray vision, tags, alerts, wallhack etc.)
- No HUD options in the menu (greyed out)
- No fantasy weapons
- No fantasy superpowers
- More realistic land vehicle handling
- More realistic helicopter flights
- More realistic weapon ballistics
- No more bullet sponge enemies
- No circus companions like cart dog, combat chicken and attack crocodile
- Can only carry two weapons which you cannot swap in the field, head back to base if you want to.
- Improved enemy AI
- Lots of tough daily-generated mini missions (assassinate, kidnap enemy, steal truck, steal helicopter, sabotage etc)
To get back to the original game you will have to exit Immersive Mode and go into Regular Mode.
@goresh_14 - you can do that in GR Wildlands, a great feature. They need to put that in all their games.

- A totally separate Immersive Mode. This mode will not have the circus superhero elements (companion rooster etc) , fantasy weapons and bullet sponge enemies. It will also have no HUD and there will not be a HUD option in the menu. There will be no hand holding. Tougher enemies, lethal rounds, more realistic gun physics. If you want to go back to the original game then just select Regular Mode. Kind of what they did for GRBP but better.
- Dismemberment - limbs and heads need to fly off and roll around. Fallout 4 does this. Come on.
- Persistence - bodies need to lie around for the entire length of that gaming session
- The air defense thing is ridiculous, even flying a few cm from the ground and the AA guns engage? Get rid of them.
- Bonus points for slaughtering annoying rebels while they sleep and getting paid by the Yara authorities
- Bring back skinning. Its so ridiclous but its also SO Far Cry! "Kill 4 goats to get access to a red dot sight" lmao. Come on bring it back!
- Bring back Boss Level Animal Hunts like in FC4 and FC Primal.
- Climbing towers
I am one of those people that complain and I still will because I am sorely disappointed with this "far cry" game. However, 2 things:
- I am never vile and will never wail on the people at the workstations who actually worked on the game. You are correct that some people go way overboard in that respect. No need for that!
- My annoyance is at the management people at Ubi who made the DECISIONS on how the game should be designed and the storyline it should follow. The level designers, artists, animators, sound engineers, musicians etc just have to obey orders. Not their fault.
I make sure I show annoyance but I use language and phrasing that is neutral and polite. A person can say "Im really sad as this game is not what I excepected coming from previous Far Cry games" vs. "You ___ , this game __ Go __ yourselves losers give me back my money you ____ ____" etc
Theres a way to say things!
Oh yes, for sure. Just Cause 2 & 3 are my absolute favorite! I dont even see them as games, more as a fantasy-physics stunt simulator lol. Great fun.
My problem with FC6 is that it feels too MUCH like a Just Cause and LESS of a Far Cry.
Before making FC7 Ubi needs to make its staff play FC2/3/4. Take the formula back!
You're sure to get a range of opinions, I'll throw in mine.
Far Cry 6 is basically Just Cause - without the infinite chute and grapple.
That encapsulates it for me in one sentence. Dani is like Ricos cousin sent to Yara to cause Chaos. So if you are familiar with the JC series you'll feel right at home.
As a veteran FC player I was disappointed. The story is meh, the villain isn't anywhere near Vas & Pagan and the guerillas were recruited from a beach-side EDM party.
The usual excessive Ubisoft hand holding is in full effect with a HUD that makes you a superhero being able to "tag" and see thru walls along with a billion icons pointing out everything. Thankfully most of this can be disabled.
If theres one thing Ubi is good at then its world building. Its fun just driving around exploring. Yara looks fantastic. Dont expect Skyrim or Witcher level open world-depth though.
In the end its how you feel that matters, enjoy it. I got it for $12 on an Ubi sale. You can get another 20% whacked off using uPlay points.
I agree totally. Unfortunately this is the way shooter game are headed specially with Ubisoft - weapon "leveling" , super powers like tagging, xray vision, enemy outlines (excessive handholding), and a cartoon style of gameplay (crocodiles in bandanas, combat rooster etc)
You bought up GRBP - the game world is so good in that but as you pointed out the gameplay mechanic ruined it totally.
Same with FC6. The very least they can do to salvage FC6 is to give us an Immersive Mode without all the fantasy weapons, super powers and pet attack animals. It should be HUD-less and no menu should be avilable to enable the HUD. If the gamer wants that they they have to exit and go back to Regular Mode.
FC2 has lot of annoyances but just look at it - clean screen, no superpowers , no HUD telling you where the explosive is coming from no hand holding. This is how it should be done.
Hello friend, I send you healing wishes and wish you the best.
I wish I had seen this earlier because there was an Ubi sale on and using a promo code I got FC6 for $12.53
This sale has now ended but my advice is to wishlist FC6 on your Ubi account (on your phone too) and get notifications on when theres a sale. You can also use uPlay points to get 20% off
Take care bro , enjoy Elden its a massive game, 100s of hours and as others have said it will join the likes of Skyrim, Witcher 3 etc .
Totally agree with you, Im glad I never bought the game. My roomie did on his PlayStation so I have played it a lot on that. For me its the worst of all the FC games with FC5 a close second.
I wont beat a dead horse as you can find all the complaints listed in detail in other posts but the stupid guerillas dressed like they are off to a EDM rave, the cartoony enemies , the way they first portrayed a slightly more serious FC with the initial trailer (and then moved away from that) and abysmal inattention to weapon realism kills it for me. Theres is also a complete lack of dismemberment, ruins immersion. Dont get me started on annoyances like the chracter bleating...er...singing....when in a vehicle...or forced 3rd person sometimes...
The world does look good, Ubi is good at world building no doubt. They excel at that.
What they REALLY missed the boat on was giving us an Immersive Mode where we can play in a world without the clown cartoon elements of combat roosters and backpack rocket launchers. This should be a no-HUD mode (should be in the menu even), will make for a very tense and fun game. It will be a totally different mode kept apart from the main game. Kind of what they did with GR Breakpoint but they should do it better than that as that implementation was a bit of a mess.
Another thing about FC6 - no widespread decent environmental destruction. Come on , its high time we should be able to aim a tank at a house and blow it apart..and it STAYS blown apart. Red Faction was doing this way back when and Just Cause series does this well also. Yes you can take down trees...I know but give us more. I hope FC7 addresses this.
FC6 to me is a Just Cause 4 expansion. I will get it when its on sale at a ridiculous price on PC and then play it with trainers or mods.
Finally just lie other things in life the views we all have of games are very subjective. I personally find RDR2 boring as hell and hate the lead Arthur character with his nonstop bleating. I found the whole story so slow and plodding. But for my friends its the Gold Standard of games.
So we will always see two sides with one defending he game to their last breath and on the other those who cant stand its features. Its to be expected.
It was only because of that first trailer. This one:
Because of that trailer I thought this FC6 would be leaning towards darker undertones and less of the clown circus theme park feel of FC Primal, FC5 etc where you can have pet bear companions etc. I thought this would therefore be a little more serious. Still fun to play but without the extreme jokey feel of some of the past titles.
A country plunged into despair and conflict, a population rioting and uprising against a tyrannical ruler. This is the sort of tone I thought the game would have throughout - a nice change.
Then of course (and I dont want to repeat myself) later trailers showed the circus elements and immersion killers (for me) from the party-like guerillas, combat rooster/croc/dog, HUD superpowers etc. Yes I appreciate you do not have to have those animals as companions and that many HUD super power elements can be turned off , that you do not have to use magic weapons and backpack rocket launchers but it did bring home to me that FC will not release a more "serious" game ever.
I speak for myself here but if I want madness in an open world I turn to Rico in Just Cause 2/3/4, the problem for me is that FC6 has one foot firmly in Just Cause territory - I want FC to be different. To be more serious than Just Cause 4.
I also know im in the minorty - for one person like me theres a million others who love the game, i know thats the reality. I just hope that Ubi does give us a punishing Immersive Mode. Like what they did with Breakpoint - but better and more punishing.
