@lemmie88 Idk, I just wish video game companies would say more. Engage with us. Not some reddit post with meaningless words. Like a video, of someone addressing our issues, and telling us what they are doing about it. Like...
"Hi everyone, Bob here with Ubisoft. Today's video update is about the missing fish! Our team is looking into this, and we've came across some issues when trying to fix it that have caused others issues we're sure you don't want! The reason they are not spawning is ... ... ... ..., and we need to ... ... ... ... We know this is frustrating, and if we can't fix it by ...time..., then we will add the items to the town shop for purchase with silver."
...or something. Just talk to us, let us know what's going on. Like daily, or weekly. As it is now, we get little-to-no info, and have to wait months for simple patches to come out. Why can't they fix one thing, then as soon as it's ready send out the patch? Why do they wait for months then batch it all together as one update?
And I also feel that the reason so many people are upset about the fish thing is because we all think it is something very simple to fix. We're not devs, so don't know how complex it is to fix, but it seems really easy to fix. All they have to say is "the issue is very complicated and tied into major game functions, so patching won't be easy". That would suffice for me. I would understand a little more. But as it sits, I still think fixing the fish should be very easy, that's why I am mad at their incompetence and/or unwillingness to address the issue.
@lord_texalot You can't say they were ignorant of the issue. There are literal hundreds of posts saying exactly which fish were missing and they chose not to acknowledge it. It would have only taken one employee to simply open the game and try to catch the fish for them to know it's still broken. They didn't even try. Not once. And nobody is going to cry that they fixed their bugs. We 'cry' because they don't fix the bugs. We EXPECT them to fix the bugs, ASAP. If I were a developer, I would definitely want to fix all the bugs. I would want my product to be good and pure.
I understand that you don't like people talking trash about the dev team and Ubisoft, but people are [censored], and very understandably so. [censored] off people typically don't act rationally. We spend hundreds of hours in a game so we can complete it. No other reason. We don't like looking for little yellow dots, we like opening the little yellow dots, collecting the loot and having it disappear from the map, and go towards completion. We don't like stacking rocks, we like completion. We don't like holding UP to climb mountain for minutes at a time, we like completion. We don't like catching/shooting hundreds and hundreds of fish, we like completion. We want to finish the game, and we are being denied our final glory.
So no further luck with re-texturing. When graphics settings turned to low the modded texture doesn't load at all. I have learned that the rune is not embedded in the rock face tho. It is a decal slapped on the rocks for sure. I cannot find the texture file they are using for the runes for low-resolution, so I can't make it where we can see them from far away. I went from search for hours to find runes in game, to searching for hours trying to find runes in the game files lol.
@tchester1980 Yeah, pretty poor of Ubisoft to leave us hanging like this. A simple "it's not finished" or "coming with DLC" or "oops, we forgot to remove those debug markers" or "keep looking, you're on to something" would suffice. But we hear nothing but crickets. And with the amount of bugs in this game, for all we know we actually did find the answer, but it's broken like the Ragnar Lothbrok quest was, and the fishing deliveries, and the avenge kills, and all the other bugs that don't allow players to finish the game. It may not be part of the DLC, but we may have to wait for the DLC so they will patch it.
We have a mod to locate them, have access to all game dialog, all game textures, all game items, we use camera and player glitches...and still no clues on how to solve, inside or outside of the game.
I've kinda given up on rune searching, since I flew so much with the mod already the other day, but if someone posts an area of interest I will go explore there though. I still have interest in revisiting the Yggdrasil machine area, since that's really the only place in the game I didn't properly explore. Not that it has to do with the runes, but I just want to cover that ground to see those textures.
I've gotta say, I've learned more about runic writings and Anglo-Saxon history from this game and it's mysteries than all of school lol.
@missm16 lol a lot of us have done that, and more. I went as far as killing a civilian, carried the body and placed it on the rune, then burnt it. Same for my elk. Tried enemy soldier too. Couldn't figure out how to kill myself on one though. The things I've done in the name of Odin's Runes..
Okay I found something interesting...
At the East Anglia rune, when you step near it, it makes a sound. But there are other places around the area that also make that sound. I have found 4 so far. But the playing of the sound isn't consistent. I kept going to the spot I heard it, walk away and go back but couldn't reproduce the results. But for one I noticed something...if you run or walk over the spot in one exact direction, the sound plays 100% of the time. So I went to 2 more and after trying many different paths I found only one that has a 100% success rate. The rune activates the sound no matter what angle you come close to it, but you must leave it's immediate area and don't return for about 15 seconds to activate it again. Here's another thing..when a spot triggers the sound, another spot will not trigger until 15 seconds later, and you have to run across each spot in a certain direction, no other direction works. I'll try to make a video showing what I've found later.
@theeelf Idk. I just watched a couple playthroughs of the Fly Agaric and none of the spots I found are in that hallucination. And the sound is different than the portals. Here's a video of the ones I found and the direction you need to go.
Here are the original textures.

I've found a way to obtain the Swordfish and Skadi's Blade, and neither do anything around the runes. I haven't been able to find the Pointed Staff. Based on the animations in the videos, would you say it's a sword, or an axe?
EDIT: For the Swordfish, I gave myself the required fish, just in case there was an unlock trigger. I gave the fish to the kid and got the Swordfish. The achievement didn't pop up though, so idk if it was done properly. For Skadi's Blade (Ice Axe), idk how that is properly obtained, so there may be more that comes along with getting it, like a quest or something.
@tchester1980 Here is the Full HD map, if you want to increase the accuracy or your marks.

@supergamer7829 The mod we have only changes the appearance of the Odin Rune. To glitch through walls you have to do the drop kick/fishing line trick, or use the camera to glitch see things.
@shovelator I found these Old Norse words, maybe they'll help. I'm not getting into it again lol.

@vanadiumcobalt Yeah I searched there a few times. I had similar suspicions about the area, but nothing turned up.
@hroozenbeek I've notice the bow crosshair turns red like every time you pull it out, not just around the rune.
Watch at 8:28. Read his dialog, and notice right before that, he turns so the shadow of hood covers his left eye. Coincidence?
@tchester1980 I did check everything North/Northwest of the Wall.
