Hi,
ever since the update that prepared for the release of Royal around the end of July ago, where the Club Servers list was moved from the Live Tab to the Arcade Rooms sub-page on the Live Tab, the player numbers on both the Arcade rotation and the Club Rooms/Servers have gone down drastically. This not only hurts the longevity of the game but also the drive for mappers to build maps. Why build maps if most of them will never make it to TOTD? Why host community servers if half the players can't even find them in the convoluted UI?
Below is a graph showing the player counts from the beginning of the year until July 8th on all servers hosted by Evo in TM2020. As you can see, as soon as the update hit, our player numbers have dropped by as much as 50% on the Fullspeed Beginner server. This is as low if not lower than before the release of the Spring 2021 campaign. And this is also especially sad, since we were approaching player numbers that were getting in the neighborhood of player numbers we saw during the launch of the game last year.
This problem still has not been rectified with the launch of the Fall 2021 season, which saw the minor re-design of the Solo page.
And there I also see a worrying trend: Club Campaigns have been moved to a sub-page, the same way Arcade Rooms were moved. Please give the players access to an UNMODERATED, NON-WHITELISTED server browser. We had this in the previous games and Community rooms and dedicated servers were and still are the backbone of the multiplayer experience in Trackmania.
Discoverability is hugely important for this, else for many communities that don't have the popularity and notoriety of Evo or that are of similar size there is no reason to host a server anymore. Trackmania thrives from community generated content, so don't hide it in sub-menus so the average player doesn't even find it anymore.
The amount of questions we had on the Trackmania Discord and the Evo Discord as to how to access club rooms/dedicated servers without club access is honestly astonishing.
It would be cool if files contained in the ModWork folder would only overwrite the parts of the textures that are actually contained in the folder (e.g. custom skidmarks) and not block custom mods on maps completely.
This way people could still use custom skidmarks while not having to drive maps in a way map makers haven't intended the map to be played. (e.g. Portal RPG map among others)
If the above suggestion is not possible due to how the game loads files, please give us a way to apply custom skidmarks without having to use the ModWork folder to do so. It helps a lot for learning fullspeed and other styles as well.
Hi,
in previous versions of the game, you could scroll down the member list in the club and it would load the additional members dynamically.
Now this functionality seems to be broken and the additional list items seem to be stuck on "LOADING".
After closing the member list and reopening it, the entries previously marked as "LOADING" now show up, however if you scroll up again, the rest of the list isn't loading anymore.
Laptops with these more powerful iGPUs have become mainstream and they used to be able to run the game with little to no issue at low to medium settings.
Recent updates (dating back to the March 29 update) have resulted in making the game unplayable, prompting either a "Device Removed" crash or a "Corrupted Installation - Please verify files integrity or reinstall the game." popups with the game refusing to start outright.
We've received numerous reports about this problem on the Official Trackmania Discord and it would be nice if Nadeo and Intel could work together to resolve these issues.
Hello Ubisoft Nadeo Staff,
I think it would help the community tremendously if you implemented a public Bug Tracker similar to the one that exists for Ubisoft's currently-in-beta game "XDefiant".
They have a public bug tracker that anyone logged into their Ubisoft Account can submit a bug to and can get feedback directly from the developers on whether this is being looked into or not.
It would help a lot to move to this instead of the current forum setup where we barely get a response from any of the developers and Ubisoft Support frontline staff just copy-pastes their basic troubleshooting methods instead.
Thanks for consideration!
This is still an issue half a year after the initial post.
I'm wondering what Nadeo's stance is on mappers not wanting their maps to be altered without their permission. There's a user on reddit quoting the Ubisoft Terms Of Use which basically says this in section 6.1.
(ii) other Users a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to access, display, copy, adapt and modify Derived UGC and create derivative works within our Services.
Said user thinks it's okay to create altered version of TOTD maps without the mappers' express permission, especially when they specifically said not to create altered versions of their map (E.g. finish 1 block higher, reactor boost starts, reversed maps, etc). Is this covered by this aspect of the Terms Of Use and do mappers really have no recourse in that regard?
@mimojr Hey, this sounds like the infamous join bug (where you're connected to a server and the "Synchronization" step is being skipped) that Nadeo hasn't been able to track down yet.
A known workaround is to play a map in solo first before connecting to a server, or installing Openplanet and using the "Joinbug Workaround" plugin whenever it happens.
I want to bump this topic with today's release of the Intel Arc A380 Graphics Card for PCs (currently only available in China).
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/227959/intel-arc-a380-graphics/specifications.html
This graphics card will launch soon in other markets as well and we can expect system builders to use these in entry-level gaming PCs.
Adding support for this would be very beneficial for many players.

@ubimint Hi UbiMint, it seems this has been fixed by the latest update.
Thanks for checking in though!
@LarryNOS-0
You have accidentally bound "Mouse 1" to giveup, you probably double-clicked the "Give Up" keybind thing twice.
To fix this, click "Unbind one button" and then simply click your Left Mouse button. That should fix it

@smartman50 This problem appears when you have an incompatible XInput device connected like a HOTAS, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, incompatible Steering Wheels or Joysticks.
Make sure all of those are disconnected and the issue should be fixed.
