@ubi-borealis I honestly can't face playing that fight again having tried it and gotten sick of it far too many times since the game's release, so I'm not going to record a video. Generally my approach has been to use flaming or poison arrows to grind him down, dodge attacks, and then have a good slice at him when he's vulnerable. Really nothing special. I tried the workarounds like frame capping last time and it made no difference. As for the other questions:
@ubi-borealis Still very much a problem. I am somewhat amused - it's not the first time we've been told it's fixed. Every time I come back to play a bit of Valhalla I wonder whether it's been resolved, and once again I find myself wasting my time trekking across Asgard to find that no, no it hasn't. It'd be less galling if it wasn't such a boring encounter to start with. Maybe get some different QA people on it. PC, 1.3.0.
@Ubi-Borealis 5 months on and this still isn't fixed? Seriously? This is game breaking. Somewhere you've wasted a developer working on festivals that could be sorting out the broken base game.
@ubiexcellent Absolutely has not been fixed with the latest update. Just encountered exactly this problem having decided to come back and see if the game was less buggy. For the love of the gods, get some decent QA people in because they're not doing their jobs well.
Same on PC - very annoying.
Yep, getting these crashes now since the latest patch. They were not an issue before - game just hard locks about 30-60 minutes in. Often seems to be after a save so I wonder if that's related.
@poorkenny You've described exactly where I am. Lots of potential here, but I feel like they've totally dropped the ball on testing to make it actually fun as a game. A little too much love for their artists and animators.
@poorkenny I encountered this exact one. Annoying as hell - generally the animations seem to have a tendency to stitch you up with breakages when you have no control over them. I've also noticed a tendency to the game offering you an assassinate option only for you to end up swinging your axe and looking a right fool.
I've dropped off the crate of apples (no quest completion) and now I get this popping up every couple of seconds, which makes the game unplayable. Wandering more than 5m from the crate causes it to reappear down the road back at the apple cart, but moving it does nothing. Fast travelling to the nearest point did nothing (still leaves the popup), but fast travelling home to Ravensthorpe seems to clear it and fully rest the quest. Attempting the quest again results in same situation with the popup message.
@tyranusvader Fingers crossed. They're definitely linked to some other issues such as clouds going weirdly blocky on the latest nvidia drivers.
Keep getting issues where activating a specific action that locks me into an animation (picking something up, assassination) can result in me accidentally smashing jugs in the vicinity, whether they be empty or full of burning oil. This is a bit hampering if you're trying to take a stealth approach. It's especially frustrating when these objects are nowhere near what I'm doing, nor in the path I started the action from. If I had swung my axe then sure, break stuff up, but this is crazy - you can't take control from the player using a triggered input that then results in unexpected behaviour like that. It just feels buggy as hell.
Have you tried whacking the volumetric cloud setting down to the lowest? I've found it's the biggest culprit of things going wrong in mine. Since I did that I haven't had a deterioration problem for a couple of sessions (fingers crossed). This is in combination with forcing the full screen optimisations off that someone alluded to earlier in the thread.
Box is gone, have no save game (as I don't expect to keep incremental saves throughout my playthrough) and am far too far to just restart. Now seeing where the crate was meant to go, that's not even mildly clear as the quest giver makes it clear he just wants their clothes stolen. Another untested mission?
Went to pick up one of these jars for the puzzle in Lunden. They all just exploded (note I'd done nothing but press the prompt) and one is stuck to my face. Sometimes it hangs like this, sometimes it hovers over my shoulder. It's far from the first "objects stuck in midair" bug I've seen. Honestly, I've seen so many glaring bugs during normal play that I've got to wonder whether there was any playtesting done. If you had testers who weren't reporting on each of their playthrough sessions that there was a quest they couldn't progress on because of a bug with AI, objects, or markers then I'm pretty sure they were lying or just walking in circles in a field. The issues are far too prevalent for these to have not been known of before release.
It's even worse than this. I'm getting the symbol pop up on new recruitable jomsvikings from other players when they show up in a city, which means through absolutely no action of my own there's suddenly this display marker appearing in the city somewhere. Apparently we can't have direct markers on enemies or target waypoints any more, but this rubbish is acceptable.
Didn't even know I was missing this ability until now. That sucks. Completed the quest but no ability available.
Wealth on this guy is still listed on my map as uncollected (tracks the corpse if I move him) but nothing to collect. I have auto-loot on and assassinated this bloke so this should not be happening. Have tried going and doing other world events and coming back later.
@nozgame I get this one as well. It feels just like the input switching freeze/audio glitch from when I still had hybrid on.
FPS tanked when I got up near Repton, though was still some distance from town. Pretty sure it was related to a combination of clouds and AA as adjusting those made it playable enough to get to a sync point. Restarting resolves fully.
@jandraelune When the basics of looting chests get overly complicated to the point that either AI or animations can break things. Big round of applause to the design behind that.
