@igrvks ---thanks for the observations and experiences! Boggles my mind that Ubi repeated this auto respawn fiasco (think FC 2--jungle checkpoints), and FC 6 is looking like another case of a major title being in BETA (e.g. bullet sponge enemies, two lame difficulty modes, borked ammo system, blah, blah, blah) state on release. Imortan Joe: Mediocre! Mediocre!
@YungSapien59 " lmao, what "realism" exactly? The home made 8 power scope and suppressor made of plastic bottle? The AI that just stands around or hit scan shoots you to death thru 10 meters of foliage? The models that look like they'd fit in launch era PS4 with no issues? The ridiculous bugs and glitches? "
LOL! You beat me to it. Plastic bottle suppressors? Seriously?! I'm not knocking anyone who enjoys the game for whatever reasons; they're opinion/s are as valid as anyone else's. But please don't associate "realism" with this sorry .
Bugs? Glitches? My rig is totally up to date, tuned and ready to rock. I've had between 10-12 OS (Win 10Home 64) crashes so far (just got the first mission from Juan at Clara's camp); including several during game start up. Not what I'd call "stable". I'm sure those issues will be fixed "eventually"------------------but isn't that all too typical of an Ubi release?
Oh yea; the plastic suppressors. Adolescent wet dream fantasy. They "might" work on a .22 rim fire cartridge, but the only thing that will happen with any assault or battle rifle cartridge is the bottle will explode with the first round fired.
Crafting a suppressor due to circumstances and lack of resources? Absolutely! It'll be made of a durable material/s if you want it to last even 4 or 5 rounds though.
wet dream ammo system. wet dream crafting system. Instead of say; having to raid enemy armories, logistics/comm hubs, police stations, looting weapons and kits off captured/dead enemies
Mind numbingly stupid ally system. Especially given Ubi had a fairly good one with GRW. Build up supplies and logistics; build rapport with the rebels at the same time; receive greater trust and assistance from said rebels; throw in some intense personality and character differences. Gotta run a mission, or series of them to cement an alliance/ally so on and so forth. And, don't make the player character a freakin' doormat to potential allies. Potential Ally: Do this! If you want my help! Dani: Uh, OK! Player Character choices should always have down stream consequences. You know what'll happen if I don't get 'ol drunk *** Juan his watch? Nothing.
And what's up with the Dani "meat puppet" thing? Got no choice? Apparently not. I'm now carrying 2 old school battle rifles (the M1A1 I didn't want at all). And 5 weapons slots? WTFlip?! There's that realism thing again. Wouldn't need al the arcade features if ther was a real ally/rebel system.
BTW: Beautiful game world. Looks great at 2K rez on ultra on my system (except for the routine OS crashes)!
So much wasted potential once again.
Gonna take a break for a bit on this under developed title. Between the:
- semi routine instances of FC 6 locking my comp/crashing the OS/rebooting
- the rampaging respawn of enemy NPCs
- removal of features that were in previous editions (e.g. being able to lip the Y mouse axis on planes and choppers)
- limiting arrow types
- forcing us to carry multiple weapons (especially the rocket pack which would burn your @$$ off the first time you fired it) with different ammo types (too many of those too) to defeat enemies with "magical" attributes
- No human GsFH
- Nerfing the suppressors in multiple ways (even though they almost got them right if FC 5)
The game is just tedious BS that is buggy, includes too many game mechanisms that DO NOT complement the game, or the seriousness of it's plot and premise.
Best wishes to all who are enjoying it, and/or hanging in there for patches!
@petek Well said---I routinely used it in Odyssey with a longer sword or spear to do run by attacks on those Steroid Giant **** Head Mercs; Ubi put in the game to be "fun and challenging".
@frosthound030 Ssssssooooooo on top of being the usual tedious boring dodge/roll whack whack, dodge/roll whack whack, dodge roll whack whack festival Ubi mini boss fights are....................................there are crappy rewards to look forward to as well. Inspiring.
@commandernomad Thanks for the heads up in your OP!
Ubi has yet to discover that suppressors DO NOT reduce performance (and haven't for 25+ years), armor piercing rounds are usually loaded to the same velocity specs as FMJ (ball) ammo "but" are made of a harder than lead core material (e.g. steel), they penetrate ballistically tolerant material (e.g. Kevlar and other armor material) better, but may do less damage to soft targets due to target perforation (don't dump enough energy into the target). MEH! You get the drift even if they haven't.
PS: You're bummin' me man!
@true_coverage I suggested the addition of a "Classic" mode in another thread: Remove the level gating, the bullet sponges, the convoluted and unnecessary ammo system, and the out-of-thin-air immediate enemy respawns so that the game is more like...you know...Far Cry.
Disabled content is quite common for not only Ubi, but other triple AAA Devs too. Take a look at the re enabled features/content in the FC 5 Resistance mod at Nexus. Utterly amazing how much stuff that was sitting there in our vanilla games that had been disabled.
They're "suppressors" NOT silencers. It is possible to get the gun shot to near noiseless (excepting the working of the action) by using a .22 rimfire cartridge, or a seriously subsonic loading of more powerful cartridges. I fyou have access to either of them; take a listen to unsuppressed and suppressed weapons in either of Undeadlabs State of Decay games. Best gun sounds in the business.
Modern suppressors (as in suppressors made within the last 20-25 years) DON'T over heat as portrayed in FC 6, and they certainly don't reduce cartridge performance. The resolver suppressors in FC 6 are laughable fantasies. You might get a "round" out of them using a low powered pistol cartridge, but the only thing they'd do on any of the rifles is explode with the first round fired.
Not knocking anyone who likes the FC 6 suppressors as presented; if you like/enjoy it, then you like enjoy it. Just realize they're as arcade as the current rate of enemy NPC respawns, and enemy NPC audio/visual horizens.

@eagleyezx I'll definitely check it out, but if it's only designed for Coop and PVP, I'll probably give it as pass.
Security vulnerabilities or not; this forum, it's features, and GUI are worse than the old one. Are far as "life support" is concerned............................I'm not seeing a downside. If we "were" in charge of life support that means we'd have control of a defibrillation machine to administer shocks to "whom" and for as long as we saw fit.
Strictly to save lives...............................of course!
So it died while I was out, eh?
As much as I've dissed various elements of GRB; I do give Ubi credit for some of the improvements implemented. OpMother and the Realism mod were to two best things to happen to GRB. In the end; GB is the gaming equivalent of a lemon vehicle. You can shine the paint, put on snazzier wheels, and pimp it with more chrome...............................but it's still a lemon. Pretty much what several of you have already noted about various implementation failures, core design choices etc.
"But" with everything that's been said in this thread about failing to learn from experience..............................I CAN NOT believe no one brought up Valhalla or Far Cry 6 [2 of the releases delayed in the wake of GRB's intial success ]??!! It's as if Ubi enjoyed the fan *** kicking they got over GRBs release state vs it pre release hype. Take bits of every Ubi game franchise; throw them into a game developer blender; turn it on high for several months; then tout the tasty treat that came out at release. And why not? Worked out great for us with GRB! w00t!!
To be fair; it's not just Ubi. Look at CDPR and CP 2077. Released version wwaayy different than that presented in pre release PR. Tons of touted features MIA or just deactivated in the release. And now Tech Land has joined the "Hey! Look at me! I'm a drunken Developer cliche!" crowd with their release of a Dying Light 2 that only slightly resembles the DL2 balyhooed in most of their pre release PR.
Thanks to all who've contributed so much in the old and this "new improved" forum! Enjoyed most of the [censored], ideas, suggestions, and camaraderie!
Oh yea------my take on the OP question. No flipping idea!
Kean makes a very valid point; violent physical struggles/assaults are anything but quiet. During the 26 years I worked for my State's Prison System I witnessed, helped break up, or heard about literally dozens, if not hundreds of violent assaults/fights, etc. I can only recall one that ended with the victim on the floor, and the assailant initially getting away clean. All the others were pinged on within the first couple of seconds even when they WERE NOT in line of sight of anyone. So, yea, the use of CQC "stealth" take down is pretty Hollywood in my book----though I've seen a few in various games that I liked regardless. A more likely scenario is going "hand to hand" during an accidental close quarters encounter, (or your firearm just ran dry and to reload would take too long) and going to fists 'n feet, or maybe a knife; because anything else would be too slow.
@Kean_1 "......unless Ubi decides to wake up and make a meaningful effort to focus on core, defining gameplay aspects of the franchise that resonate with their customers, it doesn't matter where the next GR location occurs. It will simply be the same poop sandwich.
Personally, I value the gameplay the most so I'm ok with fictionalized locations based on real world ones if they go that route. Add a "stan" to the end of the name or similar. What I will say is that assuming the game is any good otherwise, I will like to see another biodiverse game world like Wildlands again. "
Amen! Gameplay and well implemented adherence to real world based weapons, ballistics, gear, tactics, and BETTER AI than GRB! Real world or fictional locations----either one for me!
@flybyme Sounds as if you are not enjoying the game. Why be so picky. I just ignore those kinds of things and keep on playing. I have been playing computer games since 1985."
My first comp was a Commodore 64 hooked up to my 27" CRT TV in '86. You're certainly entitled to your preferences----and because they're different than mine doesn't make them invalid. A well crafted game provides varying levels of difficulty and realism to broaden it's customer base, satisfy different play preferences, add to the corporate bottom line, and improve the likelyhood of a "repeat customer". Options are good.
No arguing this game is afflicted with a plethora of arcade like game mechanics. Weapon (system) performance being a big one. dazzlerazzle is right about anti tank weapon performance against choppers. But, let's ignore that--------my FAV is what seems to be a game mechanic where there is no enemy chopper around/approaching--------then suddenly spawns in about 100m behind me and starts blasting the ***** out of me. This has happened multiple time; both in combat and when just exploring. Gotta it!
And who doesn't love lugging 400 kilos of weapons and 4 or 5 different types ammo around with them every where, or a rocket firing back pack that would incinerate our ***** off the first time we fired it! AWESOME!
Did I mention the blind and deaf enemy AI?
While there is nothing wrong with arcade game mechanics; it would have been nice if Ubi had crafted FC 6 with at LEAST 4 different difficulty levels; making each higher level more realistic to allow players who prefer a more tactical/RW type of game play to do our thing.
Who doesn't seeing a citizen NPC in a car/truck rear end a horse riding enemy solder NPC-----------------only to have the horse/rider stop the vehicle cold; it's front end rising to a near 45 degree angle; then bounce back to earth; allowing the citizen NPC to drive around the now dead horse/rider. AWESOME!!
@Ubi-TheBerry --I have verified my game files----several were corrupted post Pagan update/DLC). The file verification was followed by a 12.9GB DL of something; don't know what; unless it was something to do with The Danny Trejo DLC? In any event; the DL completed OK and FC 6 now starts properly on my comp. TY!
