@igrvks ---thanks for the observations and experiences! Boggles my mind that Ubi repeated this auto respawn fiasco (think FC 2--jungle checkpoints), and FC 6 is looking like another case of a major title being in BETA (e.g. bullet sponge enemies, two lame difficulty modes, borked ammo system, blah, blah, blah) state on release. Imortan Joe: Mediocre! Mediocre!
@YungSapien59 " lmao, what "realism" exactly? The home made 8 power scope and suppressor made of plastic bottle? The AI that just stands around or hit scan shoots you to death thru 10 meters of foliage? The models that look like they'd fit in launch era PS4 with no issues? The ridiculous bugs and glitches? "
LOL! You beat me to it. Plastic bottle suppressors? Seriously?! I'm not knocking anyone who enjoys the game for whatever reasons; they're opinion/s are as valid as anyone else's. But please don't associate "realism" with this sorry .
Bugs? Glitches? My rig is totally up to date, tuned and ready to rock. I've had between 10-12 OS (Win 10Home 64) crashes so far (just got the first mission from Juan at Clara's camp); including several during game start up. Not what I'd call "stable". I'm sure those issues will be fixed "eventually"------------------but isn't that all too typical of an Ubi release?
Oh yea; the plastic suppressors. Adolescent wet dream fantasy. They "might" work on a .22 rim fire cartridge, but the only thing that will happen with any assault or battle rifle cartridge is the bottle will explode with the first round fired.
Crafting a suppressor due to circumstances and lack of resources? Absolutely! It'll be made of a durable material/s if you want it to last even 4 or 5 rounds though.
wet dream ammo system. wet dream crafting system. Instead of say; having to raid enemy armories, logistics/comm hubs, police stations, looting weapons and kits off captured/dead enemies
Mind numbingly stupid ally system. Especially given Ubi had a fairly good one with GRW. Build up supplies and logistics; build rapport with the rebels at the same time; receive greater trust and assistance from said rebels; throw in some intense personality and character differences. Gotta run a mission, or series of them to cement an alliance/ally so on and so forth. And, don't make the player character a freakin' doormat to potential allies. Potential Ally: Do this! If you want my help! Dani: Uh, OK! Player Character choices should always have down stream consequences. You know what'll happen if I don't get 'ol drunk *** Juan his watch? Nothing.
And what's up with the Dani "meat puppet" thing? Got no choice? Apparently not. I'm now carrying 2 old school battle rifles (the M1A1 I didn't want at all). And 5 weapons slots? WTFlip?! There's that realism thing again. Wouldn't need al the arcade features if ther was a real ally/rebel system.
BTW: Beautiful game world. Looks great at 2K rez on ultra on my system (except for the routine OS crashes)!
So much wasted potential once again.
Gonna take a break for a bit on this under developed title. Between the:
- semi routine instances of FC 6 locking my comp/crashing the OS/rebooting
- the rampaging respawn of enemy NPCs
- removal of features that were in previous editions (e.g. being able to lip the Y mouse axis on planes and choppers)
- limiting arrow types
- forcing us to carry multiple weapons (especially the rocket pack which would burn your @$$ off the first time you fired it) with different ammo types (too many of those too) to defeat enemies with "magical" attributes
- No human GsFH
- Nerfing the suppressors in multiple ways (even though they almost got them right if FC 5)
The game is just tedious BS that is buggy, includes too many game mechanisms that DO NOT complement the game, or the seriousness of it's plot and premise.
Best wishes to all who are enjoying it, and/or hanging in there for patches!
@frosthound030 Ssssssooooooo on top of being the usual tedious boring dodge/roll whack whack, dodge/roll whack whack, dodge roll whack whack festival Ubi mini boss fights are....................................there are crappy rewards to look forward to as well. Inspiring.
@true_coverage I suggested the addition of a "Classic" mode in another thread: Remove the level gating, the bullet sponges, the convoluted and unnecessary ammo system, and the out-of-thin-air immediate enemy respawns so that the game is more like...you know...Far Cry.
@mitsunari3 Hey! These are "nice" socially just vikings! They had to go through an initial 80 hr course in diversity, inclusiveness, sexual harassment, use of force, and the corrupt practices act. Then take annual 40hr refresher courses. That means, no raping, no killing (civvies), no bribery, being sensitive & inclusive at all times, no racial or gender stereotyping, no swearing, and being kind to animals (except those you can get leather from).
For my part; I'm fine with ACV's sensitivity, and endorse the imposition of a 21st Century Value System on the 9th Century Barbarian we're playing..........................."but" it would be nice if we could get JUST ONE ******* SET OF PERIOD CORRECT ARMOR AND A ONE HANDED SWORD to use (as opposed to the juvenile wet dream fantasy crap we're stuck with)!
Can we get a mode where the enemies arent bullet sponges and dont require different ammo to take them down quickly
The vanilla game is too 'arcadey' for my tastes
Yes! A mode where the Player Character and ALL NPCs get the same health, real world based weapons performance (except the ones that shoot stuff like cook cabbages, or spray wahabi sauce, etc), ammos do the correct amount of damage for their type etc. One primary weapon and one secondary slot so on and so on....................TY! Include options for all so Players may taylor the hard core experience to THEIR tastes! TY!

%*&#%^&)!! Libertad Recruiter! I called him up and started chewing his *** out over the "valet parking", "olympic swimming pool" in every camp, and the "private bath/shower" for Senior Guerillas like me; he blithered on about during my recruitment!
The jerk weaseled out by pointing out page 22, section 4, paragraph D, subsection A1 of my "Libertad Guerilla Bargaining Unit Agreement" which stated: "Rough field like conditions may exist from time to time; including heat, cold, dust, face feces (not to be confused with getting **** faced!), and general lack of personal hygiene facilities in all areas". Libertad DOES NOT assume any responsibility for any dissatisfaction, discomfort, strained working or social relationships, and/or social ostracism that result from said conditions.
LIke I said, weasely jerk!
@SofaJockey--I did like that the story did not duck the uncomfortable realities of a revolution. It's not Marvel's Avengers and the characters are flawed.
I've played all the Far Cry games from the first one and I find the story in 6 to be strongest, even over 3, though Vaas probably remains my favourite antagonist (just).
Agreed! The story is edgier than previous editions of the franchise.
I quit playing a week ago due to crashes and the respawn issue, I haven't got very far in, but one of the story improvements was an "interpersonal" thing I noticed (and liked); Juan commenting to Dani about Clara's trying to hide her upper class back ground through feigned speech and mannerisms, and how Dani and he are the real deal poor dudes/revolutionaries. Innocent conversational tidbit, or an indicator of genuine factionalism within the Libertad? Guess I won't know until I start playing again, and see if that potential factionalism is developed further.
The earlier cut scene when Dani is the only survivor of the machine gunned boat people was well done and pretty gritty too. I also liked the edgy relationship between Dani and Bembe Alvarez. Being used for acts/activities he (Dani) found personally objectionable; to achieve an end he and Libertad wanted was a good slice of "sometimes you have to sacrifice to get to where you want to go" life.
Keep it going, Ubi! Crank up the grit, ambiguity, occasionally crappy and even crappier choices, group politics, etc a few more notches. And, always make player choices matter to the outcome. All crappy endings = SUCK!
Killer posts by Varjag31 and DV20Katana!
"Then came the combat rooster, a crocodile, a cart towing dog, "rebels" that act/look like its a beach party, backpack rocket launchers, insta respawn enemies, dumb enemy AI etc." Priceless!
"In stark contrast to that first trailer. The game cant seem to make up its mind." Nailed it! Ubi has frequently been schizoid in it's FC franchise. They present very serious, adult level story concepts, issues, premises, and plots.......................then fail to develop them to their logical real world conclusions, and/or plug in some arcade/comic relief stuff to "lighten the mood". Goofy *** racing games/collectables, adolescent fantasy weapons, cartoon NPC characters, etc in the middle of various forms of slavery, torture, oppression, gun running, drug dealing, human rights violations, etc.
If Ubi were human and in a relationship they would be "the uncommitted" partner.
"Your allies are caricatures with no depth or character arc. They stay mostly the same. I just can't get over the fact that an insurrection against an oppressive regime is lead by edgy, angry, frustrated teenagers. If they wanted to insert real world problems into the game, they could have done so much more. Kids who had to start working early in the modern serfdom. Child soldiers. Dissilusioned intelectuals. Opressed priests and religious communities. Dissilusioned military or police. Intelligence service surveillance. Where are the workers, the farmers, medical personel etc. The rebelling military ... there is so much more they could do." Perfect example/s of the above. I suspect part of this is due to a sort of insularity and parochialism within a corporate game developer environment. Maybe a few of the Dev Team have been out there in the grit, grime, pain, and sordidness of the world situations they present in their FC plots, but I suspect most mirror whatever the Ubi Corporate Employee Paradigm is. I do think Ubi put more effort, realism, and grit into 6's friendly/ally/associate NPC characters than 5's, and it's a step in the right direction; though it could have been even more steps in the right direction if they'd presented them as you've articulated. Oh well, even one step is better than none. While I enjoy the game play in 5 (with the FC 5 Resistance and Better Ballistics mods) tremendously-----it's had to ignore that all your allies, with just a couple of exceptions, are total caricatures. God furrin', redneck, gun totin earholes! Juxtaposed against rampaging theft, appropriations, forced indoctrinations and conversions involving torture, public displays of torture and executions, massive scale drug poisoning, etc If a plot/story premise could get much darker than a civil war in a remote very rural area; where you have to slaughter your former friends, neighbors, relatives, and family members................I don't know what it would/could be. Then Ubi filled it with Clutch Nixon, Hurk, Sharky, grizzly bear and cougar GFHs amongst other arcade trappings. Like I said........................uncommitted [and maybe a bit ignorant and squeamish----a 100% real world sim of dark stuff? NOT a good idea! Wouldn't do to have most of your customer base end up with PTSD from playing your game! ]. So, yea; I really do think Ubi stepped up their story presentation game in 6, even if it isn't where it should be considering the subject matter and story premise.
I stopped playing FC 6 about a week ago due to the game hard locking my comp; crashing the OS; causing a reboot. And, the godawful respawning at multiple FND bases. There were a few other issues for me as well, but they are small potatoes compared to the crashes and respawning. Contentions the OP's claim there are NOT thousands of complaints are off base. Running any kind of search for "Far Cry 6 PC crash issues", or anything similar, bring up a host of links to articles, forums, etc on this topic.
Sure enough; some crash issues are likely caused by some gamers failing to properly maintain their rig in a good state of tune. Obviously many PC gamers are knowledgeable, dedicated, and are prideful of their rigs and do maintain them to a faretheewell. Given the untold number of PC hardware configs, I think expecting a patch/fix for the crash issue alone; in a two week time frame is a bit unrealistic; though it's understandably frustrating.
Ubi has proven itself to be a very poor (as in little to no feedback to complaints) forum/s communicator in regards to issues (PC and/or consoles) going back near 10 years. Could be Corporate Policy, or an unwillingness to hire enough staff (even if they're unpaid volunteers/mods) to handle complaints/issues in a timely fashion. Or, any combination of the preceding. Unless you're relatively new to Ubi and it's forums; this shouldn't be a surprise (though disappointing and frustrating for sure).
They also have an unenviable track record of releasing alleged AAA titles in a woeful state, and having to fix said titles with 6-10 patches over a period of months (or more). What I said about being new to Ubi fourms? Same, Same on this issue.
@AnimusLover I'm not insulting players for being less skilled but for not applying their common sense. I didn't mean to come across as toxic so I apologise for the strong language. I'm simply saying that constantly rushing in and then getting killed over and over then quitting after the umpteeth death rather than changing approach is not helpful to your partner. People forget that their actions affect their co op partner too and no one likes having their time wasted. It's frustrating.
Players being inconsiderate to their co op and/or MP partners? Glad I never experienced any of that in the Battlefield and COD series MP!
@igrvks ---you can do Spec Ops solo? Didn't know that! TY! If I start playing this again---I'll have to give it a try.
