I think a lot of you have to come down a bit... no reason in treating this like it is the biggest issue in 2020, in gaming history even in AC history.... it is a type of weapon you are missing, no reason to get angry, [censored], super annoyed or deeply disappointed in Ubisoft.
Also, we can't demand justification for every choice in the game. This is a choice they made, just like they choose to give the settlement 6 levels instead of any other number, or they chose to have X order of the ancient members instead of Y.
Unpopular opinion, but get over it...
Luckily there is no down vote button on this forum : D
The majority here would agree with you mate. Nobody's calling this the biggest injustice of 2020. Theres always some people that take stuff to far agreed. But people are [censored] and they are venting. If that venting reaches the developers ears then great.
Couldn't believe this when I saw it. No 1H Swords?! Ubisoft there's enough people complaining about this best sort it out. Especially after neglecting shields in a ancient Greek game... 1H swords should be in there come on.
slightly off topic: I hope the irony doesn't escape anyone on the fact that we can equip a shield an spear like a spartan in this one..
but no one handed swords. I really wonder how their meetings go![]()
I know right! I thought that lol. I imagine the meeting goes like this;
Game director: so guys what can we do better this time round?
Goes quiet...
Developer #4: we could have shields again. But this time use them in both .
Game director: LOVE IT! Anything else?
Developer #7: Maybe remove swords? This way it saves us making new animations.
Game Director: [censored] genius! And maybe release them as Possible DLC. That will please the old share holders. Muhahaha!
Over thinking a bit much?
Sure it would be cool to have one handed swords. As far as being historical accurate, still need to remember it is a fantasy world, a game, just enjoy it and stop comparing to what you saw on the history channel. No slaves either. There is a thread about that. Should Ubi add slaves for us to play with too, to be historical accurate?
We ain't talking about slaves mate. I can say with some certainty the majority of people here are not looking for 100% historical accuracy. We just want 1handed swords. Not a tall ask.
@fruitloops3000 Historical accuracy has been used as an argument in the thread to back the desire for one handed swords. Obviously this thread is not about slaves, but the point still stands. It is just a game not a recreation of history, so play and have fun with what is in the game and less worry about what is not.
I would like one handed swords too, but it definitely in no way getting in the way of enjoying the game. Plus they probably will add them later anyway, along with much much more.
People are venting about the absence of a type of common sword that's widely used in video games. As a caveat to that they argued for historical accuracy in this isolated case to persuade the developers to do something about it. I can whole heartedly say most if not everyone in this forum are quite aware that this is a game that includes magical and mythological creatures, and we don't expect them to find some fictional halfway ground between reality and fantasy. We're quite aware that Mark is very subjective. Just because slavery was rampant among vikings doesn't mean the implementation of getting Emphysema, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and wide spread worm infections should also get thier moment; Because that was historically accurate.
If you are enjoying the game then great crack on. Its a pretty good game.
@barryscott275
The question is, if the absence of 1h swords actually is a problem, or just a design choice (like giving us a raven or a settlement) that many people don't like and can't see the rationale for? If it is the latter, which I believe, then we are in the same situation as with Odyssey and the absence of shields. They had an argument for it, and even though people didn't like it and complained, the shield was not implemented.
My guess would be that we, even though they know that many people would like 1h swords, we won't see them implemented.
Your right about odyssey. Because of the spear they had chosen not to. Choice btw being the key word there. 1 handers were in this game, screen shots of Avor are out there with a sword sheathed to his hip. If its a design choice its a silly one that makes 0 sense. And I've heard " swords were to expensive back then". Okay, Then I shall just whip out my massive greatsword and prove that hog wash. It will take a while I predict but they will rectify this in a future dlc or update.
IKR. Theres alot of people on here and reddit raging about this. Hopefully it gets added. Personally... im waiting until 1 handed swords get added to continue the game. Personal choice.
You are going to wait forever because like shields in Odyssey, one handed swords aren't going to happen ...... They'd have to redo a lot of the physics and likely replace a function completely to get it to work on a PS4 or Xbox One which have no space to expand anything due to their power and memory limitations
Its not hard. Use the same animations as axes. Npcs also have move sets incorporated in the physics engine. Its really not hard.
@fruitloops3000 whats with this answer? it´s absolutely bananas in space. again. there are a lot 1h weapons. again. you can also wield 2h one handed or dual wield. there was no talking of the OP about "swords" where do you get that from? you are right reading makes a Huge difference. And still he / she / they are absolutely right about the misleading nudity tag. Even in "romance" scenes they are fully clothed like good behaving ubichristians .
I gathered he was referring to swords. As you so correctly said there are several variations of 1h weapons in the game. Agreed. I assumed OP didn't include the word mate. Just an assumption perhaps I should have been clearer.
This isn't a shield situation that is integral to the combat system. They passed our feedback to the developers months ago and we still haven't heard anything. Come on ubisoft. We want an update on this.
Please ubisoft this is a must!
@teg_barryz They’ll probably end up in the helix store. But at least if they gave us Connors assassins gear that bald eagle might make some sense. It’d be nice if they’d add actual Viking armor and a one handed Viking sword though.
One handed swords!!!
@UbiKobold
The community is dying to know the status of one handed swords being added to the game? Thanks
@asgardian02 but again, with odyssey they bothered to say a reason why they didn't have shields for the Eagle Bearer. They said they wanted more aggressive gameplay and the story reason was that they weren't raised in a city state environment so wouldn't have been taught to fight in a phalanx (which although isn't a great excuse is still an excuse).
One handed swords aren't integral to the combat system, nor are they part of the narrative (as to why Eivor doesn't use one). Hence why I either want an update or a reason why they're not in the game
^^ This

@max18400
agree on the armor but downgrade because it’s another 1 handed sword post
Boo
@UbiKobold Also wondering whats going on.
