I see a lot of people saying they want new missions instead of variations of old mission area's. So I though, "let's see what kinda new missions people could think of".
Rules:
1) the location: where does the mission take place and how does the environment look? The more specific the better. (Give yourself a challenge and try to put the mission in the already existing maps. DC, NY)
2) the enemies: which enemies are part of your mission? Who are the bosses?
3) the story: Every mission has a story. What are the enemies doing? Why are they there to begin with? And what is the reason the agent gets involved? (The story doesn't have to be tied to the story the devs are building. You can ofcourse but you can also do something else.)
Optional: post some pictures to give people an image how your mission would feel.
So here is my idea. No I'm not that imaginative but I tried to create something fun.
NY, East river. Black tusk has setup a forward base on the water, between the wall street ferry and the zip aviation, from which they're moving supplies into the city. It's the divisions task to destroy those supplies, neutralize the black tusk commander and take the base. The mission starts on the wall street ferry pier where the agents use a drone strike to blast a whole through the wall. And take out some of the nearby infrastructuur (mostly just vehicles and small defenses). The entire base is immediatly put on high alert. Black tusk start opening fire on the agents but are quick dealt with. The agents move through the base destroying small baches of supplies before locating a supply depot on the other side of the water. They call in another drone strike but the drone gets shot down by the nearby hovercraft. The agents move to the supply depot and blow it up with c4. A black tusk osprey helicopter flies in and drops of troops including the first boss of the mission, lieutenant carter. She is an assault with access to an rpg. She looks like a drone operator only without the drones and a head like the black tusk rusher (still with a pony tail). She taunts the agents. Saying that they're nothing more than a soldier with a fancy toy (ISAC). After the agents kill carter and the black tusk grunts, they move towards the zip aviation pier where black tusk have setup a comms station. The division captures the comms station and moves on to the hovercraft. The hovercraft entrance is being defended by two turrets and some grunts. Inside the hovercraft there are more supplies which the agents destroy. (At this point, if it wasn't already, it's going to feel similiar to tidal basin). The agents move up to the deck of the hovercraft where they find the man in charge of this operation. Paul O'Brien. He's a grenadier. Wearing a similiar outfit as scheaffer only his chest looks armor looks like the negotiater's dilemma and with one of those a bullet proof helmets. (Like wyvern has). He's angry for what we've done. Apperently he was planning to take lower manhatten for months, and he was going to do it with those supplies to prove himself worthy of becoming the new btsu leader. He then attacks the agents with his moddified grenade launcher which can rapid fire cluster munitions that cause bleed. When the agents take him out they fire of a flare and the mission ends. The players can then repel of a rope near the engines to get back behind the hovercraft and walk through the zip aviation building back on to the streets of NY.
Wall street ferry pier.
Zip aviation pier with comms station (Door will be closed when mission is not completed).
Black Tusk hovercraft where the final boss fight takes place.
The East river between the ferry pier and aviation pier/hovercraft on which the base will be build. (Entire area will look similiar to the parts in tidal basin that are on water and the end of invaded Roosevelt Island. A large wall with sniper towers with search lights on them will split the base from the road.)
I also wrote some character dialoge.
"The mission starts"
Roy Benitez: Ok agent. We will make the entrance from there on out it's up to you.
Paul Rhodes: You might wanna stand back.
"The division enters the base"
ISAC: intercepting hostile communications.
Paul O'Brien: What the hell was that?
Black Tusk soldier: The division has breached the perimeter!
Paul O'Brien: Copy that. Everyone, neutralize those agents.
"The agents spot the supply depot"
Lieutenant Carter: Paul I'm on approach with the remaining supplies keener had on libarty Island.
Paul O'Brien: Then you better get armed up. We got division on site.
Lieutenant Carter: I'm gone for 10 minutes and you lose control? Typical.
"the drone comes in for an airstrike on the depot"
Paul Rhodes: alright agent. Get ready for some fireworks.
Paul O'Brien: Oh no you don't.
"The drone gets shot down"
Black Tusk soldier: target has been destroyed.
Paul Rhodes: God damnit.
Paul O'Brien: Good now let's clean house.
"agents blow up the depot"
Roy Benitez: For your knowledge. Whe can see the fire from here.
"Osprey helicopter arrives"
Lieutenant Carter: Alright agents. Show me what that little AI can do.
"Agents neutralize Carter"
Paul O'Brien: Carter what's your status? Carter? F*ck.
Paul O'Brien: I'm not losing this base. Call for back up. Get everyone back here.
Roy Benitez: unless you want to fight of a small army, I suggest you intercept that signal.
"Agents intercept the call for back up"
Paul O'Brien: What just happened?
Black Tusk soldier: Division hacked the comms. Were on our own.
Paul O'Brien: Copy that. Everyone, get onboard we're leaving. We got enough supplies on the hovercraft.
Roy Benitez: agent we can't let them get away. You got to get on that hovercraft.
"Agents get onboard, destroy the supplies and get to the deck"
Paul O'Brien: Do you have any idea how much work you destroyed. I will take this city and I will destroy the division. And it starts here. By killing you.
"The division neutralizes O'Brien"
Roy Benitez: You did good today agent. If those supplies got on the street. I'm sure they would have had the fire power to take this city and kill everyone in their way. Thank you.
I worked really hard on this and I can't wait to see what you think about it and your ideas.
@gamecrusher447 take the fact ,dude. the game have ended its life.
You ask me to name one thing. I name multiple. Then your response is the game is dead? Certified bruh moment right here.
So I love the specialization weapons for each their own reasons. Except for the technician. Why? Because a seekermine is more likely to succeed in the job that rocket launcher was made for. The rockets don't go around cover and I even had it happen where I had enemies turn into F1 cars and straight up outrun the missiles. This includes juggernauts. A seeker does go around cover and keeps following the target till it can hit and if you feel like your seeker might miss you can just call it off. With seekermine cluster variation you can target multiple enemies so that's another thing the seeker and the rocket launcher have incommen. And last the rocket launcher is a specialization weapon so you have limited ammo. Meanwhile a seekermine can be dropped every 20 to 30 seconds.
I think their should be some changes made to the specialization weapon. Or even change the weapon itself (tho I doubt that would happen).
I'm going to be honest tho. I couldn't come up with any way to change it. So to people reading this and you agree. Feel free to post your ideas. Or if you disagree tell me why.
(Also srry for bad spelling and grammer)
First of I wanted to thank massive for finally giving us some new legendary missions (and a new roadmap).
Some might say it's far to late and should have been done years ago. I understand that and agree to an extand.
But better late then never.
Now I would lie if I would say everything is going to get better. There will probably be some bugs and things coming with season 10.
But let's look at the positives today.
@Phenomenon47
I kinda agree. Everytime a enemy punches kicks you. The agent almost falls over. But when we punch or slam our gun into an enemy it does nothing. Except for getting a punch back and we fall over again. Melle itself is so useless that there is a named holster that gives you 500% more melee damage and you still can't 1 shot red bars with that. Not saying we should because then the other exotic shot gun becomes useless (the one that makes you able to 1 punch red and purple bars). And that shotgun is useless that I can't even remember it's name. No one useless melee in this game. It's basically a death sentence. Because you get hit back, fall over and get lit up by everything in the room.
Melee needs a rework!
That's a sentence I'd never thought I'd say. Or type.
@desrocchi
If everything would be obtainable through one way. What would be the point of anything in the game. We wouldn't need anymore new content. No new missions, no new gamemodes, no new raids, now new seasons and no more pvp for exclusives because I can obtain every item by killing red bar npc in the open world. It's a looter shooter for crying out loud. Things will be put behind certain activities.
You're allowed to not like it. But just like in real life. You can’t get everything you want if you won't put in the effort.
So to awnser your question (even tho it wasn't directed at me). Yeah I'd rather get something by doing something I dislike then get everything by doing what I like. Why? Because it would get boring doing the same thing over and over and over again.
Alright. I asked you to just drop it. But nooooo. You wanna keep it going. Let’s keep it going then.
That's the question YOU have to answer... YOU are the one who says that people need to run raids or legendaries to get specific drops, yet you then turn around and say that they should just follow you without doing anything and the drops will be handed to them.
And yet I asked you. But you don't have a good awnser so you turn it back to me. I already awnsered that question. Also I'm not telling them "hey guys. Come to me for free stuff and worship me as a god you pessants". If someone asks me nicely like, "hey if you get ... to drop. Do you mind giving it to me? I don't have one yet". I don't see why I wouldn't. There not complaining about how bh should be in open world loot pool so they can farm control points on normal. Cause if they do that. They can forget it.
You have arbitrarily decided that what YOU like is fun, and what others like is not fun.
It's just that they're not as good as you and they can't do the "fun" parts of the game that you engage in.
1. Tell me you're bad at the game without telling me you're bad at the game ^. 2. I don't get how your brain works. Guess your ego is just bigger then your IQ. Everyone has fun in their own way. Never said my stuff is the only fun stuff. But you seem to only hear what you want and make up the rest. I only said "my thing is more difficult. There for it deserves a better reward".
I don't know, YOU are the one hung up on this! YOU are the one who insists that nobody would play a raid without exclusive gear, even though people who do just that has already told you IN THIS VERY THREAD that they don't care for the exclusive gear!
IT'S A MINORITY. (SEE I CAN USE CAPITAL LETTERS TOO.)
Letting people have all the possible gear just means they can test more playstyle in the part of the game they enjoy the most! Why would you care WHERE I got my gear? What happens to you if I get an EB in the open world or through a raid?
"Hey you got an eagle bearer too?". "Yeah. Took my about 100 chest to get it. That's around 400 raid clears. How many take you to get it?". "Oh I didn't do the raid. I don't like raids". "Oh, so a friend dropped one for you. Must be a nice guy". "No I got mine just now from that chest down the street". "So you're telling me I spend hours, no days, nah weeks grinding my but off to get this very strong and special gun by going through the hardest content which I had to do with 7 different people. Just for all that to be on a equal scale as a chest that drops purples and yellows".
You think it's some kind of status? There is no status attached to it since YOU are giving it away for free to people who just group up with you in a raid!
Yeah because they still ran the raid! They still did the work!
I'm not telling YOU for sure, I don't even know who you are, I'm telling it to the devs and lots of people have been telling them since TD1...
Yes YOU are! And there have not been that many people complaining. You're the first I've seen and if they're all like you. I'd like you to be the last.
I don't, have you missed that part of what I've been repeating?
If you don’t like it don't do it. Stop complaining you're not getting stuff from things you're to lazzy to do. Cause anyone can run legendary it's no exactly a "skill issue". You just gotta be paticient.
On the other hand YOU are the one who keeps repeating that some gear should be lock behind "difficult content", just to then say you give away that gear for free to people who did not engage in that "difficult content".
See you don't play with people so you don't know how the sharing system works (you never said that but since we're making falls claims to back up our argument anyway). You can only share with the people that are in your group when the item dropped. You know what that means? IT MEANS THEY WERE IN MY GROUP WHEN WE RAN THE RAID/LEGENDARY MISSION!.
FFS, YOU are the one who gives away those rewards for free to the people YOU are labeling as undeserving and "lazzy" [cit.]!
If you really think they don't deserve them, YOU should be here saying nobody should carry people though raids or give away the exclusive loot!
Reading this I'm losing braincells. I already explained this I won't do it again.
I just told you I spent a month doing legendaries on my own to get the BH, but probably you missed that since you seem to miss a lot of what's being told.
Again. No good argument so instead you try to insult. If you're going to insult me atleast try to make a good point while you're at it.
I just play solo, I don't group up for anything, I don't even play countdown because it requires a group, yet you seem to think I don't do raids because they're too hard for me... SMH.
I don't know if you lack social skills or are just that arrogant that you think that eveything should be how you want it to be. "I dOn'T lIkE oThEr pEoPlE. SO eVeRyThInG sHoUlD bE aBlE tO dOnE sOlO."
Wanna hear a secret? I'M A SOLO PLAYER TOO YOU SELF CENTERED .... but I still play with people when it comes to raids and legendary and countdown and whatever because that's how it is and how it should be. Do I like it? No. Would I like it if I could do legendary solo? Sure. Do I there for have the right to ruin someone else's hard work and time. No. No I don't think I do. SO WHY DO YOU?
You know what? Don't awnser that. I don't want to know, nor do I care. Your just so ignorant.
Why must everything be how you want it to be? I atleast make good arguments for why it shouldn't change. An I'd LIKE it. I'd LIKE to just be able to run through the street pop a random dude just to get an eaglebearer. I'd like to not have to run a raid with 7 strangers which have no communication. Over and over and over. But if I were to get an eaglebearer from a random red bar while others have spend months trying to get one from the raid. I'd be pist off if I were that player. All that time and effort. Just for them to hand it out like it's nothing. IT'S NOT NOTHING! You don't get it's not even about the people that don't have it. IT'S ABOUT THE ONES THAT DO. You're talking about making a lot of players their spend time completely irrelevant. And everyone that doesn't agree with you is some kind of facist elitist.
Also. I just figured out that Petrus Brenner. Not only does he have that short clip in the Pentagon mission on the big screen showing his BTSU operative armor with a SHD watch. But his ingame design actually wears a SHD watch? Why didn't you do this for Bonney devs? WHYYYYYYYYYYY?
Ok so I love that everyone is talking about what we want from a gameplay perspective. What better way to get the information to the devs then this. But I still haven't seen any examples. That's what this post was about. To give examples of what kinda new openworld activities you want.
So I made a couple of new ones myself (just for fun).
1) Supply crates. Basicelly there are three supply crates that you gotta destroy with c4 that you get from an elite grenadier that spawns with every wave of hostiles. The more crates destroyed the better. Can be encountered with every faction.
2) Drone Deploy Platform. For the intellectuals among you. You should know this translates to DDP, aka DDP-52, aka Razorback. This is basicelly just the Razorback fight from the Libarty Island mission. Step 1: Destroy 2 sub parts then 1 main part. Step 2: Hack the Razorback and repeat step 1 again to complete the objective. Can only be ecountered with Black Tusk.
3) Elite drone recon. What is worse then fighting a Marauder Quadcopter? Fighting a Marauder Quadcopter with striker drone support. Yeah speaks for itself. Destroy drones. Get loot. Yeah this is Black Tusk.
4) Intel collection. Gotta thank @GnarlyAtol1793 for this idea. Gotta hack a server while fighting of waves of enemies. Once the hack is completed you get some loot and a bounty. Can be encountered with every faction.
Okay so far that's it for openworld activities. But I'll go back to the drawing board to think of more and different things to do in the openworld.
@Crash-ToDesktop I love the Idea of using the carl gustav as specialization weapon. It's strong rocket launcher and is reloadable. And as you said, they already have some models for it that they can use. Seeing that it is an anti-tank weapon it would make sense (imo) it would do more damage to warhounds/drones/turrets etc. This is a good thing since that's already something the technician is capable of but at the same time it does good damage all around which gives the technician the damage dealer it needs.
I also did some research on rocket launchers they could use before I posted this and wanted to say the at4. But that is a single use rocket launcher.
People have asked for a survival type game mode for td2. But I haven't seen anyone ask for a version of underground. We barely have anything to do in New York. This seems like the solution.
I know that just like the survival thing. It would have to be "better" then the original. But I think doing this for underground would be easier than for survival.
I haven't seen massive make any post saying they fixed the crashing issue. I still see people talking about it on this forum from time to time. And constant statement being made that you shouldn't play on your hardcore agent until it's fixed.
So as dumb as it sounds. You can’t blame massive for this. They should ofcourse fix the crashing issue. But you shouldn't have played on your hardcore agent without it being fixed.
Still. It does suck you lost your hc agent to a crash. 2nd worst way to go. (1st is to a carepackage on the head).
WHY DAFUQ DO WE GET DAZED/DISORIENTED WHEN OUR SHIELD BRAKES?
You mean that knock back effect that happens when your shield breaks. I don't see the problem with that. It makes sense to me. Whe hit with that much force your gonna get knocked over. See it as being kicked in the chest. The force that hits ya is so strong your going to fall backwards. Only this kick is around 1000 bullets and your chest is a riot shield.
@Aced_100
Srry if it sounds rude but did you even read the rest of the post? All the points you made I already covered in my design.
It holds a max of 3 grenades, has the radius of the specialization grenade launcher and shoots gas grenades. Not explosives. Cause again. It's not meant for commiting mass murder. It's made for crowd control.
I made sure that this thing wouldn't be a world destroyer. And while I didn't state it directly. This (imo) wouldn't wreck havoc in pvp. There is already a lot of hazard protection builds and because it's damage is just a bit higher dan the oxidizer I will assume most players just run through the smoke in a scenario in which they use it to block of a road. In conflict I don't even see the possibility of this being used. Mostly because there are better weapons.
Critic is fine but it only works if you got the full picture. But I should have been a bit more specific so I'll make some changes to the original post. (Weapon damage kinda stuff)
So I've done one about missions, open world activities and apparel. So I thought, "Let's see what exotics people can come up with". You can make either a weapon or armor. Or both and as many as you'd like.
I also have an exotic idea myself, so I'll share that first.
So the exotic is called: The plague.
It's model is a m4 covered in in caution tape. It's weapon damage is 86,3k, has a stability of around 50% and accuracy of 40%. It has an acog scope granting 5% crit chance, a magazine granting 5% reload speed and it's third attachment, and the thing that makes this weapon an exotic. A underbarrel grenade launcher.
Now I can already hear the thought cross your mind, "well that's stupid. We already have a grenade launcher". And you'd be correct, about the second part atleast. You see. This weapon isn't called the plague for no reason. Some of you might remember the pestilance of the old days. Where if you got enough hits on an enemy with pestilance and killed them it would create a cloud of dc-62. Well this thing shoots dc-62 grenades. And again I can hear you think, "well that's op". But don't worry my fellow agents, for I have already taken this into account. This grenade launcher can only shoot 1 grenade at a time (because it's an underbarrel, duh) and only has a reserve of 2 (that is 1 loaded and 2 in reserve, 3 total).
Now how do you earn these small, highly dangerous war crimes. By killing enemies ofcourse. You see this gun has a stack system. After 4 kills you earn 1 grenade. Meaning you'd need 12 kills for max grenades.
Now this dc-62 grenade launcher is basicelly a glorified oxidizer chem launcher. With a bigger cloud and a bit higher damage. It is mostly used for crowd control, push enemies out of cover or block an area.
Now that was my idea. Hope you lot like it and srry for how long this is. I wanted to make sure the right idea came across.
And now to my favorite part of these posts. Waiting to see what you guys and galz can come up with. I'm always curious to see what things you can imagine. So feel free to create whatever you want. An remember to be nice to others about there ideas. This is all for fun in the end.
So. I wanted to talk about stealth and mêlee in this game for a long time but do to how "touchy" (You get it? You get it? Ah you got it.) the subject is I've been keeping my thoughts on it to myself (mostly). But I feel like I should share my thoughts on it to see how others feel about it.
Let's talk stealth first.
I wanted to talk about stealth first. Now the problem starts basicelly just at the mention of stealth. Because there is none. Enemies are able to detect you from very far away and behind cover. Either through vision or noise.
I feel like players should be able to sneak up on enemies easier if they slowly walk near them. Also, what's the deal with silencers. I feel like if I kill an enemy fast enough with a silent weapon it shouldent alert them (unless they see them being shot ofcourse).
Now onto mêlee.
Now unlike stealth, mêlee does exist in the division. And it is completely useless. Now I want to make clear I don't want to go Jackie Chan on the enemies. But I'd like mêlee to be a bit more usefull. Like how when a enemy mêlee's a player. I also want to go back a little and talk about how mêlee can be used for a stealth mechanic. But why try to explain when I can use massive's own footage to show you
How about adding the raid exclusive exotics to the general loot pool? It has been a few years now since the raids came out. The player base is not what it once was. Adding them to the general loot pool we give us solo/casual players a way to finally get them. Massive could make a project in game that we would have to complete to earn them. I think it would be an easy way to add some content to the game without a lot of work on their end.
Short awnser. No. They will not nor ever should put these weapons in the general loot pool. Some people keep saying it's all about the "hardcore" playerbase. Not saying any names.
But that is BS. The fact is that activities like raids need a special reward. Sure there will be people playing raids for the fun of it. But if you take away the special reward. You also take away a huge amount of people playing said activity. And before someone comes around saying I'm calling others bad or noobs, cough cough, I don't own any of the raid weapons and bighorn. But it also wouldn't be fair too the people that already own the weapons that put a lot of time into getting said weapon. Remember that most people take weeks if not months to get a raid weapon. I don't have an eaglebearer and I made an attempt on worlds first aswell.
I don't think it would be a bad thing if a new raid was made with a raid exclusive weapon either. It's just part of the raid experience. But I'm a hardcore destiny player so that might just be the norm for me.
I get that people don't like good things being locked behind content but their is a line where it starts being bad. Putting good gear behind a pay wall. That is bad. Putting good gear in a raid isn't since everyone can do it. Not everyone wants to, but that is a choice you make.
They do, they just have a higher Hazard Protection. But they also "react less" to gunfire, because they have more Armor. And they "care less" about our Armor, because they deal more damage. That's why higher difficulties, especially when grouped, do reward using specific builds more than on lower difficulties. DDs have to invest more in Weapon Damage, CCs more into Skill Tiers etc.
Just tested. You're right they do infact respond to burning alive. Srry for the falls info.
And just to clarify. Higher difficulty enemies shouldn't be weaker or anything. But i think status effects should be a little stronger. Burn, bleed etc.
And I just really want those burning corpses. (That sounds way worse than it did in my head)
I got some pictures of some locations where the ropes don't work as intended. I'll be sending more pictures of the ropes and coordinates, will I find more locations.
I didn’t mean DCD headquarter, I meant the laboratory of the contaminated building South in East Mall, forgotten by most players probably because of few minutes use during campaign only, as most of the locations … bad use of the great open world. In the end it does not matter. I simply wanted to describe a task what I like: story contribution, different locations in open world, non-linear playing, searching, figuring out secrets that contribute to story, random NPC encounters in combination.
Oh I remember that lab. Actually visited it yesterday. Was going through all contaminated areas. When you go into that lab you can still interact with the laptop and search the dead npc. So it is kinda usefull place for rp. (Sometimes do rp with a friend. Just use some locations and things to do and combine them to make a story in our heads. Sounds kinda weird but is pretty fun). There is also an echo in the slaughter house contaminated area.
Anyway your idea was great imo.
