You guys really can't bring yourselves to pull this thing out of beta can you Ubisoft? But hey, you found time to pump the store full of garbage and slap a sale on it. Doing us a real big favor there.
@turbosupragte Historical accuracy? In AC Valhalla? You've been inhaling too much of that burning bush, my friend.
@rincewind2981 I sympathize with you. This game is the single most bug-ridden AC game I've played. It's also the most on-the-rails RPG I've played in my life (and simultaneously the most boring). In my case, I was expecting this and waited for it to go on sale before buying, not realizing just how bad it really is. I've spent a triple digit number of hours in the game hoping to stumble across hidden gems of story telling and action. There are some gems in this game, and they are beautiful, but too few and far between.
That said, Ubisoft couldn't care less about improving this game because they've already got our money and have already made the bulk of their sales on it.
Unfortunately for Ubisoft, I won't be purchasing another AC game (barring a major overhaul to their game design and business model, but let's face it, that won't happen). Valhalla was the nail in the coffin- the worst combination of political pandering, bugs and lack of authentic and exciting content.
RIP Assassins Creed, you had a good run.
According to Ubisoft support, I needed to verify my files were all installed properly (they are). What an embarrassment of a "patch"/event. They don't want you to actually play the game, they just want you to pay up on microtransactions.
In Vahalla, it's just flat, anti-climatic and unfaithful to what actually happened.
This pretty well summarizes the entirety of Valhalla. For every one historically accurate portrayal, there are 5 inaccurate spins on reality. I really wish they would have either gone full Skyrim or full historical fiction. The chimera we got just ended up being a bland mix of could-have-beens.
@lysvander I didn't see him making any arguments against having female protagonists in Ubisoft games, but his premise is correct. I've spent most of my time in Valhalla as male and I've been misgendered a handful of time because... well, I'm not sure. Is it a bug? Is the female version supposed to be canon? Either way, what's the point of letting me pick my gender if the game is going to ignore that choice anyway?
There's also an overrepresentation of females as combatants, and minorities in general. A lot of what we see in the game are things that either weren't present in the culture or came at a much later time in history.
The only saving grace here is that it's stated to be a work of fiction merely inspired by historical events... But the liberties they take are definitely catering to woke ideology as these decisions are historically inaccurate and attempt to demonstrate the exceptions as the rule. Odyssey and Valhalla are actually two of the least historically authentic games in the franchise for that reason.
@thorhammer96 This was a bad design choice. It was cool the first handful of times but just got boring and super time consuming. Would really like a toggle so I can just go about my fights uninterrupted.
@paddy234 Nothing realistic or historically accurate. Vikings are made out to be the good guys. You don't get to use any one handed swords. The majority of the story is absolutely boring, making political bonds with various English territories. It took me 120 hours to complete all the arcs and there are only three I even remember... and one of those was the Asgard arc. Then factor in all the bugs. Overall I hold Origins as the golden standard and Valhalla mostly falls short (although the exploration itself is nice). I recommend waiting for it to drop to $15.
@daelosthecat Sorry, but that excuse isn't going to fly. Let's not pretend Valhalla is the Crysis of AC games. Just about every aspect of this game is littered with bugs or downgrades. It's a minor enough detail they can afford to make it work right.
The fact of the matter is Ubisoft pushed this thing out long before it was ready so they could cash in on those sweet holiday dollars, and they were willing to compromise whatever they had to for that to happen. And post launch, bless their hearts, they've been more worried about adding in microtransactions than addressing the litany of issues in a timely manner.
Hello @NoooobSlayer, thank you for sharing your feedback here on the forums. I have added the "feedback" tag so that my colleagues on the Community Team may find it a little easier, and if appropriate, reply to you!
I'm replying myself to advise that I have updated your thread title slightly to avoid overt political connotations, and I have also deleted the interactions between yourself and @The-Foxhounded from the thread on the basis that they were not only off-topic, but also increasingly offensive toward one another. I will be messaging you both separately with regard to these posts in a short while. Please behave better than this in the future, and do not repeat this behaviour.
I would also like to ask that you do not look to abuse the report system in the future.
Thank you.
I'm sure you mean well, but instructing someone to "be better" is extremely offensive as it implies they are neither good nor good 'enough.' You can address behavior without insinuating an inferior state of being or personhood. I'm honestly really surprised and disappointed this is a statement coming from a Ubisoft employee.
@killjoytomsta Why on earth are you asking them to charge you for things that should either be baseline or have baseline equivalents in the game? This is why we can't have nice things.
@fortyniners354 Whaaaat? You're worried about not being able to play the game when we have this /amazing/ microtransaction discount?
@evilhippo Mods like that only work for PC. I think the point is people shouldn't have to go through third party mods to do it in the first place.
@thegoldminifig1 They knew this game would sell well regardless of the state it was in, and they're making sure they squeeze everything out of the store they can. That's fine, they can do that, but they're losing a lot of good will in the process and the next AC game is going to suffer for it.
According to Ubisoft support, I needed to verify my files were all installed properly (they are). What an embarrassment of a "patch"/event. They don't want you to actually play the game, they just want you to pay up on microtransactions.
@booomshakalaka_ Ubisoft support told me to verify my installation files on PC, as if it's not Ubi's fault they put out a buggy patch. What a joke.
@tcouch2050 I can't speak for this person, but acknowledging this game as boring doesn't mean they aren't invested in it enough to come to the forums.
I for one found about 80% of the game to be exceedingly boring, monotonous, and overall a waste of time. I saw it through for the other 20%, which was genuinely interesting and fun. It kills me because it didn't have to be that way, and really falls short of Origins and Odyssey on several levels. I had hoped for the best, but we got what we got.
Regarding your issue with topless Eivor, I agree. We don't mind showing bare breasts on NPC's in the same game, but the main character is a problem because...?
It's so odd to me that we enter a topless brothel and fight optional bosses who are topless, but a side quest/mystery about a bunch of "nudists" is just people stuck in their underwear at the beach. It's like there were separate teams working on the game, and some were restricted to T and some got to go full M. And then there's female Eivor who might as well have no torso tattoos, since there aren't any designs that accommodate that covering.
Happy middle ground on Eivor would be to allow customizable underwear models, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

@gearsmonger Ok, I'm not even going to bother . You want someone to argue with and thats fine. I disagree with you and I've played every AC game. My issue is the fact that you are this worked up over 50s per transmog. Its hardly a major thing. Not seeing an issue with something does not make someone a fanboy. If a game makes you this unhappy, don't play it. Discussion over as I cannot be bothered arguing with an entitled kid who thinks the world or a company owes him stuff.
"Discussion over because I can't handle reasonable disagreement, started name calling and want the last word for free." Apparently simply disagreeing with the design choice constitutes "worked up."
What a sad, soft world we live in.
You have to realize in real life no one will change the look of something for free. I hate the transmog system in Odyssey because 2 of the sets won't remain on when loading a save. I guarantee we will have issues with the transmog in Valhalla. My biggest issue with this game is the upgrading cost so much when you don't get enough Ores from breaking rocks. This game is a one time play anyways since I would rather have New Game Plus over the transmog. I am staying with Odyssey, I am even close to being done with Origins.
You have to realize in real life you can't go to Asgard and relive the memories of your previous incarnation. If you can swap your gender for free at any point because 'Animus', why not transmog?
