Same issue here on the PS5. As soon as Patch 1.2.2 was installed, my custom control scheme which is the same as the "alternate" controls in Origins and Odyssey is now broken. "X" no longer works to pick up items/loot items. I can no longer interact with items using "X" either. How is it Ubisoft ALWAYS breaks something with their patches? Last time is was the sound of your horse's hoofs. That took MONTHS to fix. Do you now QA your patches? Do you not figure that there are MANY people who can't stand the "Souls-like" controls and prefer the more classic controls! Why can't you add an "alternate" control scheme similar to Origins? Hopefully this won't take months to fix like the horse sound issue. Where as the horse sound issue was only a PS5 problem, I'm having the issue with the custom control scheme on both PS5 and PC.I should have learned my lesson to never install a patch form Ubisoft day one. Wait to see the reported bugs with said patch first.
@s7igma957 I can confirm that this is not a problem with his hardware or software. Yes the game still plays normally it's not a game breaking bug. However since the latest update shadows are broken. They appear very aliased. However if you go into photo mode the shadows appear normal. I've confirmed that this happens also on the PlayStation 5. At first I thought it was my drivers as well and I rolled back my India drivers but after trying five different driver builds I finally booted up the game on my PS5 and confirmed it's broken there as well. It seems like every patch they end up breaking something.
Ok, seems it's PC only as I don't have the issue on my PS5. This really is getting old Ubisoft. With each patch you break something. Then players are left waiting months for you to fix it, only to break something else! Do you do QA at all?
I can confirm this is a bug in the game. The shadows are broken in the PC and PS5 versions. I've tested both the PS5 and PC builds. I noticed that after update 1.4.0 the shadows appeared very aliased. I have a post about it here as well. On my PC I'm running a Ryzen 5800x with a RTX 3080 ti.
I just confirmed I'm have the same issue with the lighting. It's blocky and looks like [censored]. I'm checking it on PS5 now.
I don't know if this is related, but shadows on Eivor's face with he has his hood up are messed up. But, if you go into photo mode they look normal. I've confirmed this is an issue on PC as well as PS5. The issue was introduced with 1.4.0.
I'm using an RTX 3080 ti.
@reinersdt what's interesting is if you go into photo mode, the textures appear normal.

I can confirm the same graphical bug exists on PS5. I've added screenshots AC:Valhalla running on PS5 with the same bug. The shadows on the face are low resolution and extremally aliased. If you go into photo-mode, the shadows on the face appear normal. Also during loading screens, the shadows are normal, as well as cutscenes. Well, I'll not be playing AC:Valhalla until Ubisoft fixes this. It just looks so bad when you have major stair-stepping on the shadows across Eivor's face. Considering it took Ubisoft two months just to fix the bug where there were no sound from the horses hoofs, I'm sure I'll be waiting for a bit. I really don't get how something as obvious like this gets through QA. It's the same with the horses hoof sounds. How did that get past QA? It seems they are more concerned with pushing out their "events" than to actually take time to verify they are not introducing more bugs.

@geminixnet I have the game on my PS5 as well. I'm going to redownload it and see if the bug is present on PS5 or if it's just a PC issue. Not sure about XBox Series S/X since I do not have one. I do have a XBox One X but not willing to purchase the game to run a test.
I've noticed that after the latest patch, shadows show up low rez and aliased on Eivor's face. However, if you go into photo mode, the shadows appear normal. I've tried multiple driver versions for my RTX 3080 ti to rule out the GPU driver. This is defiantly a bug within the game. It seems like with every patch, new bugs are introduced. Fix one bug, create five more. I've attached screenshots of the issue. You can see the stair-stepping of the shadows on Eivor's face. In photo-mode, the shadows on his face look normal. What's going on Ubisoft? Will this be fixed? For some reason, even though the photos I tried to attach are smaller than 2MB, I kept getting an error "Something went wrong while parsing the server response" Seems like Ubisoft can't get anything to work right. Here's a link to the high rez screenshots. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uPyy3W3sCbgMzmMy9: (https://photos.app.goo.gl/uPyy3W3sCbgMzmMy9)
