After loving Odyssey so much, I preordered Valhalla's Ultimate Edition and at launch, I played the game for quite a few hours. One of the weaknesses I saw in the game was its pacing, because the story felt to be moving quite slowly, and when Eivor reached England, everything felt to stop and things seemed a little lacking in direction and plot. I finished a few arcs, but then decided to play Watch Dogs Legion instead.
I'm starting to play the game again, and at this point I've completed some of the arcs in the game. In total, I think I've finished Grantebridgescire, Ledecestrescire, East Anglia, Oxenefordscire, Lunden, Asgard and now Vinland too, I've killed some of the members of the Order of the Ancients and I've 100% completed the regions of the arcs I've completed so far. To be honest, I've hit the same wall again that I experienced the first time, where I'm struggling to find any kind of direction or reason to play the game. I don't feel that, atm, there is even a plot or a story. Characters will appear and disappear at random, and there doesn't feel to be a core cast to keep me engaged or form a bond with. The individual arcs in England feel almost identical in story (though Asgard and Vinland were different), and there only feel to be like 3 different types of world event to play outside of the arcs.
The most recent arc I've completed is Vinland, and it really disappointed me/felt like a waste of time... I actually thought I had missed something originally, because I thought the Isu orb could be used by someone else after Eivor decided it wasn't for her, but it was a plot point which went literally nowhere so I'm not really sure why they included it at all.
It feels really weird, because I've heard so much praise for Valhalla's story, but I can't even find it. I have a few arcs left to complete in England, or I can travel to Cent to collect ingredients for another potion to continue the Asgard thing. Is there an option that starts the main story? If so, which one?
Please no spoilers!
This might be a strange, completely random idea, and I kinda confess I haven't really been following the mystery until today, but...
Could Watch Dogs Legion be involved somehow? It shares a location with Valhalla (Lunden/London), and has had a recent crossover with Assassin's Creed, and 'family' might be a reference to the Fryes who are apparently referenced in the crossover...
I've experienced this too Though I don't think only affects the player at Ravensthorpe, I had it on returning to Grantebridge and trying to defeat the player there for the second time. At a crucial part of the game, their roll was too perfect to be natural, literally giving them the exact combination they needed and stealing the game. It sucked
@thenorfolkian Thank you for your reply It feels a strange choice to only include the Baldr offering in the game and not the others too. I think I would have wanted a Freyja offering if I had the choice. I think I was worried I had made the wrong choice because I burned the Baldr offering crate earlier in the festival because I felt that the prayers were the most heartfelt, then chose Freyja at the end of the quests. I'm happy I've unlocked everything available
So, today I finished the festival. I think. I completed all the quests and purchased the items from the store.
At the end of the quests, I was given the Baldr offering and the other Freyja settlement cosmetic. Is it possible to own a Freyja and Thor offering statue also? I've purchased some items from the store but they aren't offering statues, so idk.
I'm a little late to the community challenges, I had no idea they existed until like an hour ago and now I don't have many days left to complete them.
I've already tried the river raid mode for the first time and I raided quite a few places, but when I checked my challenge progress it had only counted 1/10. So it clearly doesn't apply per raid.
My question is: is there a fast way to complete the challenge?
