There is something that really grinds my gears since at least the last three AC games in the franchise: The way the main menu is designed and how it always, constantly brings you back to the very first screen as if you restarted the game.
"Checking for DLC content"
Now what I don't understand is the reasoning behind this. There are so many settings in the game that need a proper restart of the game and I can understand that when the games engine is built that way, well, it's necessary. Still it annoys me, I wish some settings could be applied on the fly. So those are game-restarts I mind.
And then on the other hand, at the end of every gaming session and after every benchmark, I'll be taken back to the very first splash screen where it checks for DLCs again. There is a missmatch here, because for something major as adding a proper new DLC, I'd be perfectly happy to restart the game for it to be acknowledged and working. I wouldn't mind restarting the game for something important as this.
And please don't misunderstand me: I'm not asking to change the games engine so settings can be changed instantly, I'm asking to remove that splash-screen and that constant checking for new content!
As if someone sat down and thought to him- or herself: "Hey, why not, let's take unskipable intros to the next level and add unskipable splash-screens that unecessarily check whether the player might have added a DLC while THE GAME WAS RUNNING, eh?" -.-
If there is an actual logical design philosphy behind it, please enlighten me! Thanks in advance. ^^
