The Raider nerfs did absolutely nothing to fix him. All nerfing the damage did was prolong the already grueling fight. His storming tap is the underlining issue that has been such since his first rework. Also, since the knee is pretty useless, all people have been doing is half throwing you and getting a free heavy, so its like it didn't matter.
Simply put: you should not be able to soft feint a basic heavy to storming tap. Simple as that. The storming tap as is continues the already ridiculous chains that he has, basically making it infinite. On top of that, all the heavies have really good hyper armor properties, so attempting to knock Raider out of chains with faster attacks is almost impossible. It makes sense to be able to chain the storming tap from a dodge or from a unblockable as that would make Raider be able to punish if done correctly, but still follow up.
I don't think you should be able to soft feint a basic heavy into storming tap. I know it sound controversial, but I really do think this would bring the balance to the hero people want. As stated above, being able to storm tap after a dodge or during an unblockable would make more sense to keep as is.
What im getting at is, keep him the way he is, but just remove the ability to soft feint into ST on a normal heavy. That's all I personally would like to see changed. Also, maybe fixing the time it takes to stand up after getting half thrown by Raider, making the punish only work with a light attack. I feel most of the damage I take from Raider is the fact he gets a heavy off of GB and the throw, which is too much even with the reduced damage. This is my opinion however and you may feel different about that.
Please let me know if anyone else agrees with this. I, in no way expect this to ever happen, im just stating what I feel is the major issue with the hero. Please feel free to voice your opinions on this. P.S: Please don't hate, this is a legit thing ive been thinking about since his very first major rework. So give me a break.
@acheesyturtle Shugoki. Fat man needed to go a while ago.
Honestly, the main issue I have with For Honor isn't the typical stuff. Its not the player-base, its not the op heroes, its not the lack of support (that ones debatable), and its not the fact the game is dying, its the fact that only 50% of the heroes in the game are playable to the extent that you can have fun using them. What I mean is, heroes like Shaolin, Nuxia, PK, LB etc. are just not fun to play with IMO. Their chains are horrible and pretty much rely on one gimmick ability that is no where near as viable as most other moves.
My question is...Why are heroes like Raider, JJ and Orochi getting reworks every season? I understand to make them more viable, yes, but what about the rest of the dang game? Players have been BEGGING for Shaolin reworks (yes im biased here cause he's lowkey one of the coolest and most unique heroes), pretty much since the launch of Marching Fire...yet here comes the 5th update to Orochi and Raider, completely changing their gameplay styles again and again. You guys completely neutered LB just because on the HA on his shove. You destroyed Gryphon just because his shove was too fast. Why nerf his dodge attack properties when Kensei has been swift striking people into another real for multiple years now.
It infuriates me more than anything else in the game. The rest of the issues with the game can be looked past imo, but what im complaining about here just makes no sense to me as a gamer. I get its hard to rework some of these heroes, especially when it comes to coding (its a nightmare fyi) but with such a talented team supporting the game for all these years, you would think they would cater to more than the meta.
In summary: The main topic is I wish they would stop focusing on making every meta hero perfect and work on the ones who are no where near meta. I also wish they would stop giving us completely wack, op heroes and then nerfing them into the ground to almost unplayable levels a couple months later.
I know I just posted about this topic but...
I cannot stand playing this game anymore because of how frustrating it is to fight Raider. Im not talking its hard to fight the guy, its literally impossible. I was able to hold it together when Gryphon came out, same with Hito and every other supposed overpowered hero. With Raider, I have no hope. The moment he appears on my screen for the first time in a play session I immediately become depressed and don't want to play anymore. Im not one for caring much for OP stuff or people abusing in-game things, but holy crap is current Raider one of the most broken things the game has seen to date.
There is no good strategy to even having a chance against Raider, no good counter heroes or anything else of the sorts. I honestly can't see how people can enjoy this game at the moment other than maybe 4s against bots. Most days I play now, there are 6 Raiders in a row in duals, and in 4s there is at least 2 on the other team. This hero is a plague to the game and to its players and needs to be fixed asap. I know changes take time, but they nerfed Gryphon within 3 weeks of his launch soooo...just saying.
@highgate128 Its purely cosmetic. I never understood why people get so heated about the genders in the game. The character is part of the story, the devs wanted it to be a female, so its a female. I have never once heard someone complain about being forced to play as a certain gender in any other video game.
@knight_raime I wanted to apologize for getting so defensive over pretty much nothing. I know you didn't mean to insult me in any way, I was very heated at the time as I usually am when posting complaining specific threads. Ive since realized, posting an entire new thread just to complain about a hero in hopes that someone would agree with me to make myself feel better, is a waste of time. I have since also gotten somewhat better at dealing with Raiders. I still struggle immensely, but ive learned to deal with it as you suggested. Raider is more of a rock, paper, scissors hero that I have not figured out since most heroes are 50/50 or bash based.
I guess I figured it took me a month or so to get used to fighting some of the other powerful heroes, and the fact that I wasn't with Raider led me to believe there was something really wrong with him when there was not. I think his lights are a little fast, but that doesn't matter anymore. I appreciate you handling the conversation like an adult as I failed to do so in this thread. I hope Ubisoft could lock this thread down, but thats unlikely. I hope you and everyone else commenting can understand my frustration and also understand that im not in the same state of mind anymore.
@sicariusxxvii I mean thats your opinion, but it really does bother me that so many people like yourself look past how cool and unique this new hero all because of the gender. Its not a real person, its a character in a video game. If the gender really does bother you, than maybe you should stop playing honestly.
Is it just me or does Shinobi's light opener have way too much range? Ive been very far away to the point where Warlord's zone would even whiff, but Shinobi has no issues. I can't even begin to tell you how many times ive attempted to bait out chain lights on the guy, only to get tagged at the butt end of the animation of an opener from across a dual sized map.
It could just be me, but I still firmly believe he is still too strong. I lose 60% of my health as most heroes if they catch you with one combo. Catching the kick with a GB is the only way to really get any damage on him since he can squirm his way out of pretty much every chain that doesnt have any undodgeables. I feel like I get punished by Shinobi for just trying to play half the time.
@picoancus doesnt sound like you respect people who avoid conflict...
@deathtocakl Technically there is still male and female heroes. Im guessing they changed it to what it is now to avoid heat from sjw groups and such.
@st-rasamaka Pirate is no where near broken. Perhaps her feats are a bit much when multistacked in 4s, but otherwise fighting Pirate is simple. She has no real pressure apart from her plank into wallsplat. Most heroes can just throw a light the moment the unblockable icon appears, knocking her out of the move. The only real reliable attack she has is her forward dodge heavy that gets spammed way to often to the point where its almost laughable how predictable it is. On top of that, her damage to speed to stamina ratio is wack. I found myself running low on stam with her but only dealing somewhere around 10% damage, even against assassins. The heavies are the only thing pirate needs to get going, but they are so slow and deal such little damage its not even an issue.

@knight_raime Shes a breath of fresh air for most. Not too overpowered, and not too weak. (She is kinda bad in duals) I agree its very rare for the devs to nail new additions on the head like this hero. You can tell they really cared about her design, even down to her armor which looks absolutely incredible. I felt the originality of the game was tanking since Zhanhu's release. I hope they accomplish even better things with this new faction.
Someone please explain to me how they deal with Raider. I currently get blasted every single dual. I have had ample opportunity to practice against him, but just cant figure him out. If someone knows to not throw the same combo the same way, im done for. I have a big issue reading Raider players, especially if they are really good with him. I have tried so many different heroes and none seem to really work out. (Full guard heroes work alright, but only for a round or two.) I try to wait out light openers for easy parries, but they are just way too fast for me to react to unless they throw it the same side their guard was already on.
I still think he is too powerful, even with all these new heroes. (You can't argue this is the direction they are going, look at Gryphon, nerfed into the ground less than a month after launch, Shinobi is getting a nerf thank God, and Orochi WAS busted, but now he is just more annoying than broken.)I fail to see that aspect of making every hero strong af to make the game more fun. It makes the game more aggravating imo.
Does anyone have any tips other than "Get good". Ive been playing a long time and obviously have the basic mechanics down like parrying and stuff, so its not the fact I have more to learn on the gameplay side of things.
@p0wn3rki11 They just need to make it so he can chain Qi stance attacks with each other. Like doing a base dodge attack, holding the trigger down and then being able to go into qi stance. Stuff like that. He also needs to have enough recovery after his sun kick to be able to counter guarbreak after a missed kick since it happens almost very time I attempt to throw it.
