@ufamas Yes exactly. The patch fixed the ghost map markers for the opals but still did not fix the badly placed and/or "glitched" out opals still located in the world. We should push for that to be part of the next fix!
See this is why it's good to write out clear steps to reproduce these bugs so that the devs can follow those steps to see what the issue is and hopefully be able to fix it.
@jcar4327
Wow I think you might be right because even though the animation of the knot plays in the lower corner of the screen to indicate an autosave, it doesn't actually trigger a save. I just replicated the bug on a random opal in Snotinghamscire that was located above the Seer temple north of Hemthorpe.
Steps to Reproduce
Expected
You should load the game where you picked up the opal, the opal should be gone from the world, the map marker for that opal should be gone from the map, and the Player should have been credited +1 opal in their inventory.
Actual Result
You load the game at the location of your last autosave, be it a synchronization location or quest location or wherever the player manually last saved (whichever is latest). The opal map marker is still on the map and upon traveling to that location the opal is gone from the world and cannot be picked up again. The opal appears to be credited to the Player's inventory after further testing; which is somewhat of a relief for those worried about that.
Summary
This seems to be purely a map marker persistence related issue.
@roger-helgeson no not at all, you misunderstand me. I was merely restating the importance of such matters, nothing more.
@jcar4327 Well I know the opal in that house near Walden is still not accessible and the one at the waterfall in Hemthorpe is also not accessible. I haven't checked personally yet but I'm pretty sure based on others in this thread that the one west of Stoneburgh in Snotinghamscire is still floating in the air. I think there are more than those three, but those are the ones that I've encountered so far.
It's been a while since I cleared Ulriken Peak (that was one of the first things I did in the game) and I vaguely remember them being a bit hard to get but I can't remember why.
@ufamas @JCar4327 I've cleared Hordafylke on PC without issue, unfortunately, so either something's gone wrong on your end or you need to make sure you are at the right angle and distance to pick them up because I know that there are several that are just slightly placed in hard to reach places. For example, in Glowecestrescire there's this one near Thieve's Warren that is placed on a post in between the horns of a skull on top and it is HARD to get. Then you have ones in Hamtunscire that are just placed randomly on the ground in the middle of nowhere for... reasons... lol. Maybe they ran out of time or ideas or both, who knows. lol Idk to me, if I was designing this mechanic, you should either have them rarer and consistently more difficult to get on the high end or keep the same distribution but even out the difficulty to get overall somewhere in the middle.
Also, that's weird that no opals appear on the map in Norway for you @JCar4327 ... Like are they just not on the map or do they not exist on console at all? Have you looked into it by visiting a few locations? I know there are maps available online.
@zeus-x-machina Ok thanks for clarifying! I'll come back after I complete the main storyline then!
Here is the image of the map.
I've been all over this church high and low and I can't find these three chests I've marked on this map. I've completed the Wincestre storyline so I don't think there's anything left to do here that would uncover these chests. So in conclusion, either there is a deep underground area that I'm missing here or these chests don't really exist.
@jcar4327 I'm on PC so can confirm. Also thanks for reminding me about Tip of the Spear, I knew I was forgetting one of them. lol

UPDATE: There does seem to be a bug where the Mushroom Mysteries do not receive an X mark when you complete them as the Mushroom quest in Eurviscire also did not mark as complete but it turns out that I did in fact receive credit for both. I miscounted and missed the alter in Suthsexe! Oof!
