@vahndaar Thank you for your hard work! The PC community will be still alive because of this mod, I think. And if you will still update this mod in the future. We are in good hands!
@vahndaar End of an era, indeed. But not for us!
Spartan Mod compensate the zero support from now on that Ubisoft is giving.
@vahndaar Can you update your mod? Ubisoft already released next patch so Spartan Mod stopped working anymore.
@elgyd2012 Oh now I understand what you're saying Yes, but I will crank up this further, enemies should hear most sniper rifle shots to about almost 900 meters so for a game 700-800 meters would have been a sweet spot to not hearing those shots. Also I would try to make the pursuit system better for grounded vehicles that lasts much longer than usual though. Currently they give up pursuit very quick so there's no real danger.
@elgyd2012 No, what I'm saying is to decrease (just slightly) aiming when enemies shooting us from 150-180 meters max. So what I mean by that is that you still has a great chance to get shot but not every bullet is hitting your body with a laser precision.
@vahndaar
Me and my friend are still playing this mod! We absolutely love what you have done.
Here's another ideas for you worth (in our opinion) considering to implement in the future.
@vahndaar If there's a way try to "turn on friendly fire" in Spartan Mod. Do it. That will give players more stakes when you have to be careful to not wound or kill your teammates in the battle.
Currently it's not possible to kill your teammate using bullets.
Removing white flash effect when sniper is about to shoot player will also enhanced the realism of the world of Auroa.
@Hdwc_ Yes, that's true that they see you through vegetation or foliage but honestly that's not a big an issue for me since I've got used to this AI in games in the past (before when AI wasn't heavily scripted, I'm talking about tac games from 2000 year era) so I'm mostly attacking bases at day with my teammate AI that I finally found them somewhat useful at long firefight engagements (I'm playing default settings from the mod so long engagements are at value 3 and only ammo max for 5.56 and 7.62 to 210 rounds).
But despite of all of that... everything else you said is correct. Gaming industry has changed so much that I don't know if Ubisoft is going to go back truly to the roots with next Ghost Recon, unless they will announced that Ghost Recon next games will get mod support.
Anyway, let's focus on what Spartan mod could bring to the table instead of wasting our time on dreams that will never came out of our minds.
I think delay time of backup forces (increasing the time when they start to fly) is something that could be tweaked if there's a variable for that.
@vahndaar Next on my list is something that also irritates me and make this game more flashy with this holywood game mechanics. I would like to get rid of this and I have an idea how to achieve this.
Change the health of objects such as vehicles (heli, grounded vehicles) so the player cannot shot them and make them blow up with just main, second or secondary weapon rounds. Let's just say helicopters will get a million health points instead of 100 (i just assume that's defualt health in vanilla game) which would mean that in order to deal with heli you have to kill the pilot so it will fall down naturally (i didn't said this mod should be easy but it should be grounded in reality). The same with red barrels, no matter how many shots you will made it won't blow up anymore. What about rocket launchers then? Well, there has to be much more damage for rocket launchers to balance this so if you shot heli, grounded vehicle, (red barrels doesn't matter anymore so no big deal) it will blow up immediately with just a single rocket launcher shot and that can be balanced with the amount of ammo you can carry for a rocket launcher. What about behemots, grounded drones? You should be able to take them down with one or two rocket launchers as well. It's just a tank but a bit more armored this time.
It doesn't matter if you buy skills to increase blowing up stuff, it won't blow up anymore. Simply as that. That's the general idea how to get back to more grounded reality war so it will feel more like proper Ghost Recon with this Spartan mod and less video gamey BS.
search light on the chopper to scan the ground at night
You read in my mind lol, that could be awesome as well. If there's a single variable for AI heli to turn on search lights forever (you can turn on / off search light as a player when inside heli so this function is in the game already). This will create more tension especially when they trying to search you in the woods at night and you prone to avoid detection. Of course lights for heli won't detect you per se (i don't think there's variable for that to change) so it will just react as fake light that will create that illusion of searching Ghosts on Auroa. It's better that way than heli that is searching for you blindly without any sort night vision equipment, you may think that they have so advanced heli so they have some sort of night vision but I highly doubt it since they didn't mention about this in the story and the soldiers doesn't have also so... it's just plain stupid.
Another change that I would like to see.
@vahndaar Delay the time of getting backup forces such as heli and vehicles for enemies. It's ridiculous to see that heli is flying towards you so quick. There's no way they will start to fly so fast.
As for Wildlands, it's a no for the time being. Modding games at this level takes a very long time due to the amount of trial and error. Spartan Mod whilst being recently released is something I've been tinkering with for about a year now. The difficulty isn't the coding, it's figuring things out and finding stuff.
@vahndaar Is it possible to mod Wildlands similar way to Breakpoint? If so, could you tell me how to mod Wildlands? I have a lot of time to mod and have general idea what it should be improved. Im currently modding Sc: Blacklist Single player mode.
Here is where I would start when firing up the Spartan Mod for the first time to get used to it on a milsim level.
1: Start a new character on regular story mode for starters ( you will probably get smoked in conquest by bodarks because there are a ton of these guys in the wild. It's super fun on conquest, but for learning the new values, you might want basic story.)
2: Playing on Advanced and Elite settings work very good with this mod (Starting on lower settings is fine too)
3: Turn off all detections, warning messages, crosshairs etc.., and use only a compass (compass is good for learning the new distances and threat workings with mod, you can turn this off too when you get comfortable and good) **You may need crosshair on if you use a rocket launcher in your setup.
4: Only use the parachute, night vision, thermal, ballistic advantage (This is going to get your ballistics to more real world results), Slim Shadow (I only use this if I have a ghillie suit on), close and personal and feel no pain ( I use this one because you can still use your primary in real life vs. being forced to only use your pistol under duress, and the injury resistance works well because I am wearing a full plate carrier.
5: Bivouac buff I use is stretching and the food I use is for -20% stamina to simulate eating in the world in a real ops. Put your stamina on extreme when you do this to get more of a immersive feel and actually need to eat and use the canteen more often.
6: Mandatory canteen, MRE, red morphine shots only and the other 3 slots in the weapon wheel are to be designated for what the mission i'm currently on calls for
7: I bought all the clothing so that I can dress according to the weather. Put on a poncho when it starts raining, if you are blowing on your hands in game (Switch to gloves and warmer gear) and winter is mandatory extreme weather gear. (Dress for the environment)
8: If I am playing a roleplaying type scenario where I crashed and have scavenge for clothes, guns, backpack I buy all the gear needed so I can wear pretty much the same gear I take off of bodies (ie: the bodarks or sentinel top, pants, helmet with shield, exact headset etc...)
9: No spawning vehicles at bivouac or buying anything unless you are in Erewhon. Must craft it or come across it by foraging.
10: Don't engage any enemies unless it's necessary. If you begin a firefight with a couple of guys in the wild, you will likely draw more with the new settings. You won't have the ammo to sustain long engagements.
11: Use only subsonic rounds when you are near or in bases ( Better yet, CQC is a better option if you can do it safely)
12: If you get wet from swimming, you must find a reasonable place to take shelter to change clothes or dry off. (Weather will dictate how you handle this, and there are campfires in the wild you can warm up at, however nothing beats an abandoned building with heat, supplies)
13: You can't parachute unless it's from a chopper or you found a chopper that would reasonably have a parachute inside to use. Having a "Harry Potter" chute at every jump platform doesn't work for me, so I don't use it.
14: I adjusted the ammo count in the Spartan Mod Cheat Engine from (120) of 5.56 to (210) rounds. There are six mags at 30 rounds each and one in the gun. I use (210) of 7.62 also for same reason as well as 9mm. (75) .338 rounds can actually be carried and 55 rounds of shotgun 3" shells. I left the .45 ammo at default. ***You can use whatever number you want for this to fit your game style** I use real world ammo carrying capacity.
15: The only classes I use are Assault, Pathfinder and Sharpshooter. That's not to say the others are bad, I just use those ones for the closest to realism in my game. You may use whatever you think is best for you of course. (I tend to use Pathfinder mostly)
16: I never use the drone they give you for recon (I use the binocs)
17: If I do use Engineer class for whatever playthrough, I bought the actual launcher rail cosmetic for the drone that you deploy just like the drone operators in game. I also us the top cosmetic with the arm LCD display to mimic the actual operators.
Thats how i roll, minus using binocular because zoom is too small and didn't thought about getting warm after swimming so cool immersive idea to check it out.
Driving detection doesn't work as good as it should be. When i drive near patrol everything seems fine but when i drive near small enemy outpost i get detected so that needs to be improved a bit still.
Since you mention about binocular tool i will get an opportunity to talk about this. I think it would be good to increase zoom functionality a bit more so this tool will be more useful rather than some gimmik feature so if there's a way to change that @vahndaar i think every milsim fan will aprreciate this small change.
@vahndaar It would be cool if you would increase day / night time at least a double time. Currently I feel day and night cycle is too short. I would like to stay in the night longer and vice versa.
@vahndaar Alright. Another one. Don't know if it's possible but hey, worth a shot.
Make it so player's head with all gear he has equipped doesn't disappear in all cutscenes and on bivouac, for example if he has just a baseball cap then it should be visible in cutscenes (in GR: Wildlands it worked so I don't know why they decide to change that). - this change is stricte for immersion.
That's it. For now. We're gonna play some more and maybe something else will came to our head, something that is doable and simple enough to change it.
I agree with #1 (which solves #2 as well). Strangely, you can change weapons anytime in Gear Score mode, which is why I play with GS on. You should be able to do this in immersive mode as well for the reasons you state. It makes more sense to swap weapons at a vehicle or an RP or supply drop rather than some muddy wilderness campsite with nothing but a smouldering fire.
@Virtual-Chris Exactly. It would be fire if this is possible for changing.
Motherland solves your other 2 issues.
@Virtual-Chris Yes I know that but I was referring to the main campaign also (nobody is playing the main campaign anymore? :D). Those changes are only possible in Motherland Conquest mode if I'm not mistaken.
@vahndaar A couple of new changes you might look into it since there's a very high chance you will be able to change those things in parameters with cheat engine.
1. Allow players to change weapons at his own vehicle, a designated supply or rally point (you can change that "only" in a bivouac which is not very realistic to be honest) or “borrow” (swap to) a weapon from one of your AI teammate.
2. Allow players to soul swap with his AI team-mates at any time in the game.
Those changes are accessible through playing with Gear Score mode only at the moment.
3. Remove helicopter at the mountain (before entering Erewhon to meet other npcs inside cave). It breaks immersion hard to see heli there.
4. Not entirely sure if possible but maybe try to Restrict Area 01 as No Fly Area but if player will decide to fly there you will be taken down by drone swarm.
Great mod so far, keep it up! I will never come back to vanilla game that's for sure. This mod fits in my taste since it finally feels closer to what Ghost Recon was in the past. Now it's enjoyable. And for console players that are waiting to create those params with some sort of patches in the future, just forget it, they will never do that however I appreciate Ubi in general that they are not fight with modders at any shape of form (my friend did SvM Versus Mode a big mod for Splinter Cell:Blacklist SvM and it's still not taken down) so kudos to you Ubisoft, you have my utmost respect. Please, don't change in that regard.
