@ubi-thrupney
Step 1: Pick any part of the map with NPCs (bases are better)
Step 2: Kill said NPC(s)
Step 3 : Walk 60 or so paces away with NPC not in FOV
Step 4: Turn around.
That right there is your issue.
@l-renouncer-l I posted a few pages back that I don't have a problem if Ubi would just put this one to bed once and for all. Its either by design or was somehow missed in QA (god only knows how) and needs rectifying..... I also stated that those who love the "chaos" approach were much less likely to notice this mechanic - because you're not really planning your kill strategy / infil/exfil
The fact that they keep stringing the player base along with "we're looking into it" posts only suggests to me they realise its out of balance but don't know yet how to address it without spending serious man hours on patching (man hours that could be/are being put to work churning out more DLC)
IMO the balance is totally out of whack for a game that proposes "stealth" is an option by way of stealth like mechanics (such as gear buffs, stance based sightlines, alarms that can be disabled etc) - in reality your options are "run in - go loud" or "sneak in - go loud".
I get it that some players want the chaos - when I play these "open world" type games I tend to mix things up a bit - however, giving players the illusion of being able to play it "your way" was only going to rile people up who wanted the "stealth only" experience.
As @Sleezure said - its not all or nothing. Just tweak the spawn in timer/range to player. If you want an all out firefight - there's a heat mechanic they could really ramp up - but if you don't trigger heat then the game should react so - not just pop back in that sniper you killed 2 minutes ago and made the "mistake" of walking 60 paces away from. As for being unfair on AI - there are plenty of games that punish bad stealth play.... debuff stealth based gear to make the player extra squishy is just one way....decent "hunting" AI is another.
It'll probably never get fixed - but as I was only 14% in I figured I'd stop playing so as to not ruin the experience it "could be" in the hope they re-align things. If that never happens - and I've deemed it still worthy of SSD space in 6 months, I may just fire it up again and set my expectations for a fire and fury run.
Aaaannnddd..... thats that.
Well done Ubi, you took 2 months of dragging your customer base up and down the garden path to ultimately say....
"This is working as intended".
I will thank you for finally allowing me to save 60+GB of storage as I can now happily uninstall with no fear I'd be missing out on a polished experience further down the line.
Glad it was a "freebie" with my Ryzen else I'd be proper p'eed off right now. To those who did pay for it - remember and vote with your wallet next time a Ubi title drops that you're interested in.
It would have been easy to say: "Thank you for your feedback but we feel respawns are working exactly as designed" - thats that. Page 1. Done.
I can only assume the reason for your apparent fake interest and elongated response time was to string as many customers past the refund point as possible.
Change my mind.
Only posting to upvote this as an issue. Makes no sense whatsoever, feels like either un-tested/missed QA or mindless filler to stretch out the game.
Has caused me to stop playing before I end up spoiling the majority of the experience - which is currently limited to go loud or go home.
@sleezure We few....we happy few.....we band of beta testers
@haloraiderr that's a hell of a long response that could have been summed up as follows:
"I disagree with you all, think you're all being childish and need to git gud..... don't bother responding because I'm not listening to you LA LA LA LA....CANT HEAR YOU.....LA LA LA LA"
Oh the irony....
Happy New Year! Just checking in to see if this farce continues to rumble on.
[Reads last couple of pages].....
At least Ubi can be relied on for a consistent approach to customer service....
I'm honestly not sure what's worse, your QA or PR dept....
Still....at least those NFT sales are going well.....
@syphadeus I don't think (even after 1 week let alone 1 month) its a big ask for the dev team to either say:
"Yes, we recognise its an issue - it will be patched but you need to give us time to make sure we don't counter balance things too much in the other direction within the scope of the entire game (including the scripted events); once we've got to the bottom of what's causing it"
Or
"No, its working exactly as designed - we're sorry there is a number of our customers who aren't happy with this but to change this dynamic would fundamentally break the overall balance of the game's design and would require almost a complete overhaul"
Either of the above I could respect.
I simply cannot believe not a single person; tester, programmer, designer etc (get out your RACI charts and pick someone); didn't experience this "feature". As someone who works in IT managing projects where User Acceptance Testing is front and centre of any half competent solution delivery - this would must have been flagged.
So I can only assume this "feature" was by design....which I'm fine with..... if they just say so.
Could also be the only reason they've "patched" a few locations is to test the impact on the wider experience.
Would make total sense to only alter a small percentage of the map - let the unpaid testing team (aka customers) see if it works / provide feedback - before screwing the whole thing up..... I'm probably being generous though..... Again, some communication wouldn't go amiss here Ubi....
@l-renouncer-l Ubi's own website touts it as a "playground" inferring an open approach to the game world....couple that with the stealth mechanics I previously mentioned and I don't think its an absurd conclusion I'm drawing.
I don't think people are complaining about the difficulty (requiring said "Easy Mode"), just the shattering of suspension of disbelief caused by the chap who's head you just shoved a machete through resurrecting himself through the power of slipping outside your FOV.....
Its dumb game design that, if by intent, must be there to pad out the experience.....problem is, it just becomes obnoxious.
Not piling on you here - but if everything is working as you like it then great.... go have a blast! -
For the (sizable) rest of us - there is a blatant flaw in the product we paid for and to compound the issue the person who sold us the product is now asking looping questions to provide a fix. Either due to genuine incompetence of internal communication, or in hope to drive the consumer mad to the point of giving up....
Ever spoken to one of those call centres that aren't allowed to end the call?

Hey @Ubi-Thrupney (or any mod for that matter).... we're still here.... you know..... waiting......
Any news on if the dev teams have enough UAT to scope this one up as a bug feature to be patched yet?
Yours sincerely,
The Beta Test Team

So.... it'll be 1 week tomorrow since a mod last commented on this post.....
As this topic has become something of a running joke lets at least try and extract a bit of fun out of it.....
Place your bets:
Question1: Expected next response from Ubi-[INSERT MOD HERE]:
Question 2: Expected content of response:
I'd love to offer a prize for the winner.....but I feel that wouldn't be in keeping with the despondent mood.
