@kreutzgang "you can pick Alexios". Yes, we can. But what is the point in picking him if Valhalla forces Kassandra as being canon ? Same with female Eivor over male Eivor.
@longjohn119 I'm not "triggered". I am just pointing out mistakes in game continuity which should honestly not happen with a developer like Ubisoft. I don't care if it ranks as a high or low problem in the world. As long as a forum for discussion exists solely for the purpose of talking about the game, this is what I am doing.
@outlander1982 I honestly do not care about the books. For me, AC is a game franchise. If the books are canon as Ubisoft suggests, then approximately no game in this franchise is canon because they all have a different way of portraying certain events.
Something like an NPC in Norway says"Legend tells of the great Eagle Bearer. What was their name again? It's all Greek to me!"

THIS. Honestly there are so many ways in which they can fix this, but they just don't care, do they ?

@outlander1982 I don't want to get into what politics went into making these games. If I do, then it will take too long. But if the finished product came out with the option to choose your protagonist, then I expect Ubisoft to at least try and validate that choice in the game. In Odyssey everything was fine. Even if you played Alexios, you couldn't tell Kassandra was canon. But Valhalla basically forces the canon onto you, which I find very distasteful from Ubisoft.
@outlander1982 I know that, but then why have the choice option in the first place if one of the choices is basically nullified ? Like here you go, you can choose your character, but make sure you all choose this one cuz they are canon, so basically you ain't choosing anything.
@sam_boo26 I mean, I don't mind having choices, as long as they can both be canon. Otherwise, the point in having choices is literally useless. Or at least, even if they decide only one of them is canon, just keep using gender neutral pronouns for future mentions of that person.
@outlander1982 funny that you mentioned that Alexios was added afterwards. A cutscene in the game kind of contradicts you. Remember when you infiltrated the cult hideout ? You stole the robes and mask of a male cult member. Males and females had different masks, so it would be kinda weird to see someone with a male costume and totally have a female voice. Kinda shows who the traitor at the meeting was. But then again, this was not the topic. I just mentioned some suggestions to a problem which can break the immersion of some players.
Hey guys, just wanted to start a normal civilized discussion. Emphasis on civilized.
As I'm sure you know if you've played the game, when Layla interacts with the Staff of Hermes it says that it was obtained from the Eagle Bearer, Kassandra. Now, I am fully aware that Ubisoft decided to make Kassandra the actual "canon" (I'm using quotation marks because the whole premise of Odyssey is to create your own odyssey). However, a large portion of the fanbase also played the game as Alexios (me included). Not gonna lie, it actually is a bit frustrating to spend over 100 hours playing as Alexios, only for the next game to blatantly tell you that you played it wrong. Again, the whole point in introducing the choice was to create your own story and protagonist. I just wanted to know if anyone feels the same way I do or if you just swept it under the rug. Honestly, I think Ubisoft could have handled the situation a lot better. Maybe simply state Eagle Bearer, without the name, so that all players could be satisfied, or maybe synchronize the cloud of the games in a way in which the character that you played as in Odyssey is the one that is mentioned. I'm 100% sure they won't do any of this since this is a very low priority thing, but it would still be nice.
@ubi-mark I was able to find the problematic cutscene in the game. Honestly it is really immersion breaking, especially since Eivor seems to be wearing Odin's robe, so by default, it should be the male character. I have also seen that I am not the only one reporting this problem to you. I have found people complaining about this since November last year and still no progress done on fixing the problem. Ok so apparently the screenshot of the cutscene is too big and I can't even upload it.... great.
