I am on the Xbox One version and I have now tried five times to start the Sigrblot Festival. It keeps hard crashing just after Eivor lights the bonfire. Just experienced my fifth crash and I cannot progress in the game at all. Giving up for the day.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Edit: Just tried loading an older save (before the release of Dawn of Ragnarok and the Forgotten Saga) that starts me outside of Ravensthorpe. Worked fine. Then I fast traveled to Ravensthorpe and did the cutscene again. It actually did not crash.
Tried loading my newest save again. Crashed again. I am a bit baffled.
Edit: Tried fast traveling before the cutscene started. Fast traveled to Hadrian's Wall. Still get cutscene. Crash. Fast traveled to Ireland. No crash. Fast traveled back to England. Cutscene starts. Crash.
See you in 21 days, I guess.
@alexandru27p
26th of November, 2020.
It is now the 2nd of January, 2021 and this game breaking bug is still not fixed.
I literally CANNOT FINISH THE GAME and Ubisoft apparent lack of urgency is really annoying me.
I am 182 hours in. Restarting is not an option. Fix this immediately.
@martygod12 I am going to try limit my negativity about this game but I certainly have problems with how the lifespan of AC: Valhalla has panned out so far.
1. This is not a bad game by any means. I have enjoyed this game a lot. I have logged 199 hours, 46 mins and 37 seconds on my save file. I enjoyed the story (wish I could finish it) and it was a wonderful adventure through Early Medieval England.
2. However, there is very little innovation here. Hell, it feels like AC has gone backward. There are zero lessons learned from Odyssey and zero input from that game. It is like it never existed and this plays directly into my criticism of the loot system in this game. Even lessons from Origins, the last game Ubisoft Montreal developed seem to have been forgotten. But more so Odyssey. It is almost like Ubi Mont was resentful of Odyssey.
3. Despite my earlier praise, AC Valhalla is a bug filled disaster. The Mari Lwyd cloak bug was maddening and I still cannot finish the story because of the Father Bug. What happened to play testing? How were these really awful bugs not caught in beta?
4. And the loot system is completely gone. Now all the gear is at predetermined locations and there is little surprise or satisfaction, unlike Odyssey which had tons of interesting loot and Origins, which also had a nice loot system that Odyssey built on. In Valhalla, all that innovation was just ripped out.
5. And not a lot of the gear in the game is that good and the gear I want to wear is gatelocked for no apparent reason. Like the Native American outfit and weapons. They look cool as hell and I would love to use them in England but I cannot do that. It is restricted to Vinland for no good reason. Why?!
6. And the best gear in the game is not in the game. It is in the Ubisoft Store locked behind microtransactions. See, this did not bother me as I could get really good and cool gear in Odyssey and Origins. But now they keep coming out with new paywall locked sets while, nearly two months after the Yule Update (another buggy ill-conceived mess), there are no new substantial activities in the game and zero replayability. No permanent free content, no expansions (and none due until late March/early April).
7. England is just a large and empty world now. I cannot even do a NewGame+ even though they should have known we would want NG+. How could they not? Both of the previous games had high demand for it and Immortals: Fenyx Rising (a game that did take lessons from Odyssey and is all the better for it) released with NG+. How was this not apparent to the developers?
8. All done with that. Overall, AC Valhalla is a good game but stagnant installment to the franchise that has done nothing but shoot itself in the foot. Instead of another step forward, it is one and a half steps back. Now, I just want to see Ireland. Please be better.
@ubi-swaggins This just happened to me too.
I got all the gear in Vinland. All five pieces of the Native American armor set, a bow, a spear and a club. All very cool stuff that looked forward to using England.
Get back to England after all is said and done and I am back in the outfit from before I left. All the Vinland gear is gone from my inventory. I didn't even keep the freaking Legendary Moose trophy.
Very disappointing. Is this a bug or intentional? Very unsound decision if intentional.
I am playing on the XBox One version. Ultimate Edition.
I now also have the Mari Lwyd cloak stuck on me no matter where I go or what I do. I cannot wear the cool Native American outfit outside of Vinland. And I am also spawning drunk (since Yule Festival start).
This is really making me angry. These problems seem pretty universal. Did no one play test any of this before release?
No point in buying any of the cool armor sets if I cannot see it through the damn skull cloak.
Is a Hotfix inbound? It is badly needed. Updates would be appreciated.
And the festival is over. No fix. No opportunity to get the rewards. No sign of compensation. 21 days of not being able to play the game in England.
Not impressed, Ubisoft. What a disaster. You had 21 days. Clearly getting this fixed was not a priority for you guys.
@Ubi-Woofer That is not acceptable. I am 182 hours into this game and because of the Father Bug, I cannot finish the game and because of the Mari Lwyd bug, I cannot enjoy any of the outfits that I have collected in that time.
This simply cannot be left until the game update in FEBRUARY. Forget the new armor sets you guys want us to buy. Until these game breaking bugs are fixed, they need to be the priority. We need a hotfix ASAP. PLEASE!
@droid8apple I posted this in another topic but I feel it is very relevant here as well:

@merlinthewise24 Gave this method a shot. It sadly did not work for me. Glad it worked for you though. Seems you just have to get lucky. Ugh.
I am really enjoying the new River Raids mode so far but I feel we really need more incentive to do them. After only one week, I have run out of reasons and rewards to go raiding.
Here are some ideas: let us buy items from Vagn with these supplies like Ingots and Titanium. I need a lot more of these things (especially Titanium) to upgrade all my gear fully.
Also, you could put shop items in Vagn's shop in a similar way Reda has. For like 1000 supplies or something like that.
Once again, I like the river raids and want to them more and in more locations. Just give us a reason to do so please.
@M3RKEd88 I was the original poster from the Player Support thread on this topic.
The compensation given was appreciated but not really ideal as I have enough Opals honestly and have all missed out on the festival rewards which is what I really wanted.
If the intention is to give these out in a free Helix pack or something to that effect down the road, I can wait but I am hoping we will see this as recompense for a whole 3 weeks of not being able to play the game effectively.
I also hope the devs are still looking into this issue, in case it were to happen again in the next festival (Oskoreia in just 2 months) or the next Sigrblot. Potentially having a quarterly 21 day period where I am unable to play the game is not ideal.
And the festival is over. No fix. No opportunity to get the rewards. No sign of compensation. 21 days of not being able to play the game in England.

@Ubi-Mark Would it be possible we could get a progress report of some kind? It's been four days now. Have the devs been able to recreate the problem at least?
I've had a breakthrough! I loaded into a save in Lunden and got the cutscene. Skipped it by mashing B and the game remained stable long enough for me to get from the bonfire to the longhouse. Then I saved and it crashed.
Then I loaded that save. It remained stable for long enough for me to get to Svartalfheim! Vast improvement. Now I can do stuff like Kara at least.
Will try to get to Francia next. Feel like I am walking on eggshells.
Edit: Managed to get to Francia by going around the town to get to Pierre. Now at least I can work on progressing in Francia until this is fixed. After doing the intro and saving there, I went back to England. Immediate crash upon getting there. Le sigh.
Been doing some more testing around to see if I can at least get past the cutscene for the start of the festival. I managed to skip the cutscene and the game autosaved before it crashed.
I loaded the autosave that had the festival already loaded in. Immediate crash. So it is not the cutscene itself. It has to be the festival or something that was added to the game since the last Sigrblot or since Ostara. Maybe a graphical error or an error with the latest update?
Very frustrating.
@ravenbeauty229 Yeah. I have been doing my contracts, challenges and checking Reda's Shop in Ireland as I cannot go to England without crashing now. I keep trying and it keeps crashing.
Really wishing I had gone to Francia now.
Hello Vikings,
Thank you for your continuous updates on this thread.
The development team is currently working on this issue and to better understand and reproduce this, can you please provide us with the following details:
Many thanks!
I will post the details for both my newest save and the older save that did not crash when I got to the festival.
Latest save:
445 hours 48 minutes 47 seconds
Everything basically done except I have not gone to Francia yet. The workshop for the Forgotten Saga is set up. Finished Ireland, Skye, Ragnarok and the main game, of course. Plus all of the minor stuff. Only Francia is yet to be done.
This save is saved on the cloud under a separate cloud save.
Older save (December 27, 2021):
358 hours 30 minutes 38 seconds
This was from before Ragnarok and the Forgotten Saga were released. Francia not started yet. Ireland and main game finished. Skye started but not finished.
This save is not saved on the cloud and does not have a separate cloud save.
Hope this helps.

Same issue here. Come on Ubisoft! You had an extra two weeks to fix this.
I am not really going to say anything that hasn't been said already but good lord! 50 silver every transmog change and you cannot do it on the fly. Have to go to Gunnar every time. How is any of that necessary? It is almost like the devs resented having to put transmog in so they made it stupid to annoy us.
Ubisoft Montreal. Please. Call Ubisoft Quebec and ask for some help. They had it in Fenyx Rising since their game's launch and they implemented properly. It is not a bad thing to ask for help now and then.
