

@dj0rdje12 Well, because their engine can't render 50m radius properly. Mid range lod looks really lame, low polygon objects, low res textures & grass pop-in everywhere. After update 1.02, they also nerfed close range object detail and textures to improve performance. Classic Ubisoft.

Update 1.2: Better lighting, richer colors, better shadows, better fog effects:
Version 1.04 : Lighting looks worse, washed out colors, downgraded fog & fire effects, downgraded shadows (look at shadows on npcs)
Not only lod detail. Volumetric lighting, shadow depth and fog effects have been downgraded as well.
Why? Because "so called" next gen consoles couldn't really handle those effects at 4K 30 fps. So they downgraded max settings.
I got screenshots from both versions, I will share them later.
After update 1.04 weather effects and volumetric lighting look far worse on maxed out settings. Draw distance and texture quality of lod objects have been degraded too.
Do you call it optimizing? Game looks like a ps4 title now. Well done.
