I think it's been firmly established by now, that the song selection in this game currently is horrendously lacking. To put it mildly! It's what I'd expect from a beta. In fact, I did test the beta last summer, and the song selection has only improved marginally since, despite the fact that it was openly acknowledged as being one of the biggest issue that the beta had. That acknowledgement, combined with the delayed release date, was actually enough to make me blindly assume that there would be a proper song collection at launch. Now I just feel incredibly lucky that I was eligible for the 14-day withdrawal right!
But honestly, it wasn't the lack of (quality) content that made me cancel my subscription. It was the lack of communication from Ubisoft in the wake of the NUMEROUS complaints about the song selection, as well as inquiries as to whether or not it's going to improve in the near or far future. The vague promise of "more songs will be added containually" is no longer enough, because it doesn't indicate when, nor does it indicate what; whether it's going to be actual quality content like in the previous game, or if it's going to be more of the same low-grade bargain bin B-side stuff. I think Ubisoft could prevent many people from unsubscribing, if they gave us some news and updates about what is going to happen with the song selection - and then they'd generate more money to actually obtain some licenses to quality content.
I really hope the song selection is going to improve, and I am 100% going to re-subscribe when it does - the song selection aside, the game is incredibly impressive on a technical level, and the user experience leaves the previous titles in the dust. I know that by unsibscribing, I'm not helping in making that scenario possible, but I simply refuse to pay for a product where I have to wait and see if it'll eventually be worth the money, which, as far as I'm informed, may not even happen at all. So, more information please!
On an unrelated note: I experienced some issues with note recongition on my bass. It registers the D-G strings just fine, but has some issues with the A string, and lots of issues with the E string, especially the lower notes. It's slightly better when using the bridge pickup, which leads me to suspect that it's because I use flatwound strings, which don't produce as many of the higher overtones that the more common roundwounds do. RS 2014 registers the E-A strings on the same bass just fine.
