I don't know what it means either tbh. I just remembered weeks ago people were either translating runes (or talking about the meaning of Odin's rune specifically) and saying something about running naked through a field at night lol Also about spinning in circles. Maybe it was in an Odin poem or something.
Anyway, that's what I did yesterday before I carried the rock to the rune. And then the rune camouflaged it : /
I remember throwing rocks at the runes before but I either didn't notice the camouflage or nothing happened. Yesterday I was looking into the Cairns being a clue due to their locations and I wanted to try to stack some rocks on the rune. On my way to get a rock, I got inspired and ran naked through a field at night xD
I got a better video tonight of the rock phenomenon than my previous one. Even if it's a weird glitch, I'm kind of having fun playing with the runes lol At least they're reacting and doing "something" for a change : / Runes 1 and 3
I know how you feel. I'm rolling with 4 manual save files (updating like every hour) crawling at a snail's pace to avoid these awful bugs. I've never had anxiety playing a game before.
If I hear them drop the she-bomb on my male Eivor I might riot. Give us one person or make them separate people. Twins/siblings with one dead at childbirth... Animus glitch sci-fi babble zapping one into oblivion... whatever. We don't care.
I think the main story quest waits forever when there isn't anything active going on. I always leave it for last and it never broke for me even after days of hunting and looting and exploring and doing basically nothing.
I wouldn't take my chances with side activities though in this glitchy game. I either complete them once I start them or make a manual save file before triggering them in case I change my mind in the middle of it and don't want to finish it. Reload save file and leave it for when I'm ready to see it through.
Yeah, there's a way. But it's dependent upon us (the players) how challenging we want to make it, not the game mechanics which we can't change at the moment.
We can reset our all our skills, equip our peasant starting outfit from Norway, (haven't tried it so don't know if we can unequip weapons?) and go bare handed, without special skills though even fully upgraded weapons will be limited to basic combat so that should still present a challenge. We can also self impose a permadeath rule. You died? Game over. Start back in Norway.
So yeah, we can create our own Nightmare mode where enemy levels don't mean a thing.
I appreciate being given a gender choice as playing a female character can be more immersive for me but it really depends on the game. I don't see game characters as "me" so I don't always choose the female. What's more immersive for me than a character's gender, is a well written character that not only fits the theme but that I actually like.
Granted, it's annoying hearing them call male Eivor a "she" but come on... it's not game breaking. If they don't fix it, we can always attribute the she-bombs to some bs "Animus glitch". Do you like him as a character? That's what's most important.
I picked male Eivor because I wanted to turn him into a ginger beast with a glorious Viking beard (like his voice actor Magnus Bruun). Cannon be dammed. I really like my male Eivor.
I tried my best to keep the angles as accurate as possible and included all the stars even though not all may have been visible to the unaided eye in Eivor's time.
The northernmost star is very large and bright (so definitely visible) but it falls northeast of rune #3 off the England map pointing us straight to Norway. If this holds true, the first or last rune or possibly the ah-ha moment should be in Norway.
I'm gonna look under some of those stars in England for now. I think we'll need our entire community to search Norway military style. Good lord it's all huge snow covered rocks
lol You'll see my Eivor fumbling and the rock rolling off but the rock was being camouflaged by the rune even while he's holding it.
I don't have enough storage on my USB for a video so I had to shoot it old school with my phone *sigh* It's still processing on youtube now.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it but here's exactly what I did:
I found a spot in Glowe that seemed to suggest I run naked through a field at night (I remember someone here saying they read that on a rune?) so I stripped Eivor, meditated until nighttime and ran to the north Carin in Glowe. I got dressed and grabbed a rock.
I placed the rock on the rune and meditated again to turn to daytime.
I hope you guys can duplicate it and it's not a glitch. I ran naked through a field for this....
Well the good news is tonight I loaded an earlier save (before I took off running, spun in circles, and danced naked in a field at night like a lunatic) and went straight for the magical rock. The rune still camouflaged it. The naked dancing is not needed. I mean... you can still do it if you want to with your Eivor's smile on her face. No judgement here. None.
Boat for transport out of Glowe:
I did something more productive today than play with my stupid magic rock xD
I actually looked under the stars in the Aquarius constellation (rather than draw it freehand from my head lol) and narrowed down some possible search areas under stars I couldn't line up.
My findings/ideas or possibly a big pile of Loki Rabbit's poop:
(Loki Rabbit is the south star)
North star (in Norway) possibly our starting point leading us to England.
Something is amiss in Snot....
Synch Point (middle star)
Book of Knowledge
The star in the blue circle is Skat. There are 4 pieces of gear (among other things) under it so I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it's referring to.
The star in the red circle I couldn't line up. So suspect? Maybe something is amiss there....
My magic rock sucks the life out of every rune it comes in contact with but I'd trade it for your cloud dragon xD
It's definitely a weird glitch and not intended as no one else seems to be able to duplicate it : (
But I'm curious... since you're also on a PS4, have you tried the rock? It's in the northwest Cairn location in Glowe (underneath the Cairn next to a movable big rock that hid/hides a treasure chest)
This last thing might be the most interesting to this mystery if it's not a glitch so I hope you all can see it.
It looks so out of place in England it might be Isu. If so, we'll need our entire community of foot soldiers to tear this cave/mine apart inch by inch xD
Go to the middle alcove...
And look up...
I also picked male Eivor and (although not game breaking) this issue is starting to get on my nerves as well.
It's a shame they chose to go this route instead of making them twins/siblings. Kill one in childbirth or Animus glitch (whatever works story-wise) and refer to the one we picked by the right pronouns or call them Wolf Kissed and Varinschild. Problem solved.
Yeah... it's really difficult for me to praise anything I think Ubi did well with this game when I feel like we literally paid them a non-refundable expensive fee to be their Beta game testers.
I already stopped playing. I'll return to it 6 months from now when it's in playable condition.
So sadly I found nothing... yet. No runes or shimmering water (for Rig). But I'm in NYC and snowed in today so I can look at rocks all day. lol I've caught up with the thread and I'll take Cent around the harbors if that's ok?
Also, I want to confirm the runes have been in the game at least since launch as I'm still playing on patch 1.04 and mostly offline and I can see all the runes. I was offline yesterday when I went to see the new 5th rune and lo and behold it was there like all the others.
Hold on guys....
I saw a post here (I will look later to give him credit) drawing the Scorpio constellation over Odin's runes. I have some limited knowledge of astrology constellations so I've been exploring that idea. I looked at our skill tree, and yes, Scorpio is depicted in our skill tree (under Wolf). I skimmed the thread just now and recognized something else...
For those that don't recognize it, it's the Leo constellation. And yes, Leo is indeed depicted in our skill tree as well (under Raven).
I'm working on a clearer map of the Scorpio overlay on the rune map. Might be worth something. I'll be back shortly with possible locations we can look for more runes or letters or any clues.
The Leo Constellation has 9 stars in its system. The Scorpio Constellation has 15 stars.
I got your message but sadly I can't reply so I'll do it here.
Yes, I may be the only unicorn lol that's still playing on patch 1.04 and offline and I can see the new 6th rune just like all the others. It was definitely there since launch. I'll take a video if you guys need to post it anywhere for proof (all 6 runes visible on patch 1.04 and offline). Let me know if it's needed.
Also, I just skimmed through the thread and I was able to identify a constellation with the new rune (Aquarius to be exact which is depicted in our skill tree under Raven). Give me a moment to draw up a possible map of where the stars point us. If there's any validity to the constellation theory, we'll get an idea where to find more runes.
I'm so bummed to hear none of you were able to reproduce the camouflage with the rock. Thank you all for trying though. I connected online tonight just to see, did the naked field run and still got the camouflage on our settlement rune and the East Anglia one. That one looks even cooler because the rune is bluer and the rock doesn't slide. It looks totally blended in.
But alas, no matter how cool it is, if we all can't reproduce it on different platforms and game versions... it's not meant to be there. A glitch is a glitch.
So tonight my Eivor and his new pet rock were on our way from East Anglia to visit the Hamtunscire rune next. We almost made it until I got attacked by a wolf and lost the rock. After covering all that land and sea by foot and boat in one trip, I was so mad I found a cart with oil jars near the Ham rune and I torched its little bush in front of it.
I was shocked. SHOCKED, I say again, when..... nothing happened.
I checked an oil jar and no camouflage/illusion on it. I carried it over the rune and (gently lol) placed it on it and the jar looked normal.
I also walked the magic rock over an oil spill and the rock stayed clear. The oil texture didn't get on it like the rune texture does.
Hi Welcome back!
Oof. I danced naked and sober in the wrong field and united "with a glitchy rock" instead : /
Final drawing (I promise) without all that nerdy astronomy stuff no one cares about...
I did some more digging in Cent...
I'm waiting for the DLCs to come out before I continue the story so I basically just did Sons of Ragnar so far xD Oh and I don't mind spoilers if anyone is wondering. Anyway....
Blue circle star:
I don't have all the weapons/gear (or whatever else is under there) so I couldn't equip all that and go ham on the runes with it. Maybe one of you guys can and see what (if anything) happens?
Red circle star:
All I found under there is an opal : / I did some more digging tho and apparently during the story we meet someone named Fulke, The Instrument in that area who is in possession of an Isu relic, the Saga Stone. No idea if or how this is related to the runes but that's all I could dig up. Maybe you guys will have better luck.
