Guys, I'm really sorry to say this, but the situation is really bad, Ubisoft either doesn't want to fix their game (they already have our money) or they simply don't know how. In my support ticket 15142162 I've done everything they asked me for, played the way they wanted, provided all the files they wanted + additional logs, also reporting every crash from Ubi crash reporter tool, reported random crashes (most of us experience random crashes that can occur anywhere in the world- this is the biggest problem) with logs and in return they asked me to update my GPU driver to not recommended non WHQL version for my GPU (I already had the most current recommended by AMD drivers for my GPU) and disable antivirus. Game still crashes. Today they asked me to disable Windows built-in gaming related components, doing so they confirmed that AC Valhalla is not compatible with Windows 10 (they claim that Windows 10 is required OS to play)
If you create support ticket as Ubisoft Staff here recommends, they will blame your PC and system/software/drivers you use even after you provide all the evidence that it's not yours system fault, until you just give up. 3x msinfo, 3x dxdiag, 20 atttachments to support ticket overall, 0 crashing issues resolved.
I'm really glad to hear that at least for some of you advices given by the community helped to ease crashes, although you shouldn't be forced to use specific in game settings or do shamanic rituals that you don't have to do for other games, this still means that the game is broken.
@StamiLee Of course it's the problem with the game, they just refuse to fix it. I use AMD GPU so the NVDIA driver problem is out of question for me. But people desperately want to play without the crashes so they try everyting, and most of time you cannot tell if it actually helped in several hours of playtime or 2 days. You need many more hours to test it. Somehow we can play all other games on different gaming platforms just fine, and there it is, Ubisoft trying to convince us that the problem is with ours PC/system/drivers.
So far the Ubisoft support staff made me do (support ticket 15142162):
- disabled every third party software and autostart that I use
- playing on the new clean local Windows account
- whitelisted in antivirus all Ubisoft related catalogs
- clean installed the current recommended WHQL drivers for GPU
- SFC (System File Check)
- Scanned for malware
- disable Windows 10 build in Game bar, Game DVR, Game mode
guess what? Game still crashes as before. And they will still look for the problem with my PC/system. They will never admit that there is a problem with their game, even if you flood them with logs from crashes.
@Sebas_ALL123
If you get very persistent crashes like at least 1 every 5-15min with no exceptions, also with crashes in menu then basic Ubisoft troubleshooting/DDU install of older/newer gpu driver/ disabling OC/fabric OC might help, it could be on your side. Maybe they will even help you in support ticket.
However, If you get random, not place specific crashes, while freeroaming, sometimes after 5min, sometimes after 1h, sometimes after 6h then there is nothing you can do, so far we were able to verify that it's the game crashing the GPU through the usage of DX12, this is basically what error in Windows says when the game crashes. People like myself tried literally everything at this point, only thing I have not tried is buying new PC. Either Ubisoft is perfectly aware of the issue and the went ignore/delay mode because they don't want to spend money on fixing it or they still haven't figured how to fix it.
@Bluke-1337
When support was here, they provided 0 help, they only spam links to basic troubleshooting that won't help for random crashes, ask for msinfo/dxdiag or ask you to open ticket and when you do, there will spam you there with exactly same things and provide 0 professional technical help even if you cooperate with them. And I'm not trying to be rude, this is what it is (you can start support ticket and see for yourself) and most people if not all that were looking for help with crashes here on in support tickets would probably say the same.
@ubi-borealis how can I start a support ticket on crashes with log files? I cannot open support ticket, it says I can only do this on live chat, but it's unavailable and tells me to choose other communication method, but there is no other communication method. Is this a joke? Not only we got game that constantly CTD for so many months without a fix, and now we cannot properly report problems?
@electricsquall This is exactly what it is. I finally managed to open ticket on crashes on en-us site (of course I couldn't do it in my native or even en-gb) and for me it looks like there is actually chat bot instead of human, it starts like "I am sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues in Rainbow Six: Siege which prevent you from playing the game.". It's not even the right game. They keep asking for msinfo and dxdiag. Somehow I can play 15 modern games on Steam, EGS, GOG, Origin without crashes and there it is, Ubisoft asking me to disable every third party software and services (I use like Logitech and Asus/Realtek driver's software used by thousands if not millions of gamers), and play on new clean local Windows account. What will be next, they will ask me to buy new computer or uninstall popular used by millions of people antivirus software to play their game?
We keep hearing about "tailoring"- you can't do any tailoring either in steps or the process when the game crashes for so many people on different setups. Tailoring would work if there were rare crashes for the small amount of people. This thread has been opened for months now for driver crashes and CTDs without any progress on the issue, this clearly shows that the current approach for resolving issues does not work.

Could I ask for help and assistance please, ticket number 15142162, I was told that something is wrong with my refresh rate (I checked and everything seems fine) and that there is problem with my not fully updated GPU drivers (everything seems to be OK) and I asked for further assistance there because information I got from support staff was not clear and not precise enough so I could test/do what they want me to do, but my messages were ignored and I rececived another message with link to basic troubleshooting that I already did and asking me to attach another dxdiag and msinfo (I already provided 5 dxdiag and 5 msinfo files during the support process).
Could you please forward this ticket (15142162) to real human person? The newest message from support in this ticket looks like automatic bot reply, it is completely out of context.
Exactly what Skylinee87 said, you can play for days without crashes and then you get like 3 in 2 hour session. The game has been crashing for me for 4 months despite trying and doing everything to prevent it (I also went through ubisoft support process) and it's the only game causing problems, also the community reports these crashes on both Nvdia and AMD gpus so more probability on the game being faulty. FPS limit didn't help me, I tried in-game, RTSS, from AMD driver. But still, if you are being forced to limit FPS that clearly means there is a problem with the game that should be fixed, especially if in-game limiter doesn't work and you don't get warning that game can crash if you don't limit FPS.
Ok so for me it seems that they actually did something in the recent TU, after 4 months of crashing I'm not able to get any crash (I'm not talking location/quest related crashes but completely random ones while freeroaming anywhere in the game world). Before the patch I've done everything that support asked and still the game was crashing, after the recent 'stability and performance' patch game stopped crashing. I've done nothing more, it simply won't crash on DDU installed 21.8.2 Optional AMD driver on 6800XT.
@UbiStorm
here's a list of things that support team asked me to do, you can find all the details, evidence and like 6 msinfo/dxdiag files in support ticket that you already automatically closed 15142162
- clean installed Adrenalin 21.8.2 Optional (non-WHQL, not recommended)
- disabled every third party software/all autostart programs (also AMD External Events Utility that should not be disabled)
- playing on new clean local Windows account
- COMPLETELY UNINSTALLED antivirus program (you should not ask people to disable security, your software should be compatible with most popular AV software)
- game files verify/reinstall
- System File Check (SFC)
- Microsoft Safety Scanner (the newest version deletes files without a promt and they can't be restored, I would be carefull with this one)
- disabled Game bar, Game DVR, Game mode (you should not ask people to disable default components of Windows 10 that are enabled by default, so is Windows 10 required to play the game or not? Decide.)
- using 60Hz refresh rate (you should not ask people to lower refresh rate when their hardware and software fully support higher)
- before each gaming session/running UBI launcher- sync time in Windows settings
... and the game was crashing, then I've done nothing and after TU 1.3.1 with following these steps I'm was not able to get a single crash. I finished Paris DLC, part of Ireland map, new and old river raids, I even done unnecessary river raid marathon with prolonging but the game just won't crash.
There are 2 things to notice:
1. when you ask people to disable third party software and send them link with a guide- for the AMD users it also disable AMD External Events Utility. This is a part of AMD driver's default settings and it should not be disabled, it is known to cause problems in some games when it is disabled (might be freesync related). I had to switch it on aswell AMD Crash Defender Service because you can't report crashes to AMD otherwise.
Update you disabling third party troubleshooting guide with a notice that AMD user should not disable these two default components of AMD GPU driver. I really understand that you want to blame any third party software possible, but leave alone default components of GPU driver, especially when there are GPU related problems.
2. in-game FPS limiter is completely broken as I said in my previous message (in both fullscreen/windowed)
- it exceeds set value- causing stuttering becasue FPS is higher than refresh rate. For example if it is set to 65 I should sit on 64-65FPS, not 66-67FPS. (I checked this with UBI launcher FPS counter)
- it does not work in menus, eq, map ect causing very big FPS jumps and drops when entering/leaving menu, this actually can cause problems
- it does not work in some in-game dialog scenes
@Ubi-Borealis We're happy that you are glad, but did you forward this issue to the dev team? When are you going to address this issue? LightmanN7 mentioned LordTerminator's message with solution to resolve crashes by not using in game fps limiter which is broken and does not prevent from crashes.
I don't know about crashes, it didn't help in my case but fps limiter is indeed broken, after setting it to for example 65 I'm sitting on 67 fps all the time, this is not how these in game fps limiters work. It should not go above set value, otherwise people can get stuttering because they are not aware that it exceeds their refresh rate (unless they have fps displayed on screen).
@Ubi-Nacho Thank you for the response, I will need many more hours to test if the game crashes on the newest version. My test is reliable because each time I play I follow steps I received during support process so there is no risk of any third party software or whatever else being involved, it's only Valhalla running on completely clean Windows account (to provide even more evidence with msinfo file that my setup is completely fine in case of crash- because ignorant support staff looks for causes of crashing everywhere but no in the game itself). I even started to play Watchdogs Legion and it doesn't crash, so still Valhalla is the most suspicious.

Guys, did you have by any chance any success and result with support tickets? I don't know, I feel so helpless, I've been doing for almost 3 weeks everything they wanted, today I received another message, they keep want me to disable antivirus (didn't help), say that there is something wrong with my gpu drivers (they're all good, every other game works), that I use wrong refresh rate (like [censored], I checked and everything is set as it should be, every other game works, it shouldnt cause crashes anyway).
