@asgardian02 I have only played a small bit of Valhalla so far but i'm already enjoying the combat so much more than odyssey as at least the enemies don't take 50 slashes to take down. I also love that it feels heavier. Reminds me of origins. As for Odyssey being Cartoony, i just meant the overall feel of the game with combat and the super duper moves and how poorly Ancient Greece was represented. Ancient Greece was extremely different to us in so many ways especially their morals, values etc and that should have been represented (to some limited extent of course). Instead we got a world that i can only describe as Paradise for the woke crowd portraying the fantasies of it's development team and doing everything possible to be as inclusive as possible to a certain group of people. Thats just what Ubisoft and companies like EA do, they make games they THINK we want and it's why they can never hit the quality of other AAA titles that create Art out of passion. Like EA, they don't even care, all thats needed is high sale numbers so the content is mostly generic.
Despite all this i did feel Origins was different however as there was more depth to the world, more quality to the game, i'm hoping Valhalla is the same as i play through it, i'm already getting the same vibe and magic i got from origins.
@theonlykanga Honestly i don't get what many like about Odyssey, it felt so cartoonish and Arcadey from the combat to the so called historical world of ancient Greece. Is it because i'm 32? Maybe i'm just older than the average Assassins Creed player but i find Odyssey to be a Cartoonish woke version of Ancient Greece that turned the combat into an arcadey super duper button bash fest. Characters were boring and Ai as thick as the first Assassins Creed. I mean in two generations they really couldn't improve the Ai?
I loved Origins and the new direction the franchise took with it however Odyssey bored me to death, i hated how much your character felt like a demigod with super duper arcadey special moves against enemies that took 20 slashes to kill, is the combat any better in Valhalla, for example heavier, brutal and more realistic? How about the open world and story? The storyline in origins sucked me in and portrayed very well how the quest for vengeance can poison us while at the same time portraying the clash of great historical characters? The world felt like Ptolemy Egypt showing the clash of cultures and civilizations and going into depth with your character's religious and cultural beliefs, something Ubisoft have always scoffed at when it came to Characters portrayed in a Christian civilization, needless to say this game felt a bit more mature than the others. Odyssey was just way too cartoony for me, the world was like a Woke person's paradise rather than Ancient Greece and the storyline was bland at best. Is Valhalla more like origins, are the Vikings made out to be ''cool badasses'' that caters more to taste of the naïve and immature or can i expect some realistic Viking grit? Are the English portrayed as the bad guys for being Christian, something typical in the older titles? I basically want to get a feel for this game before i buy it full price or perhaps wait for a sale or even avoid so interested in your thoughts?
@max18400 Sorry i disagree, Valhalla depicts the savagery of the Vikings. Odyssey dressed up the culture of Ancient Greece to somehow become recognisable and relatable to the woke crowd. They were obviously pandering to a crowd of people. They did the same with Valhalla to the more secular "Viking is cool crowd'' but at least they didn't hide their savagery and brutal nature
Origins had immersive lore that equally represented the diverse cultures In the game in a rich manner. It felt like one of the more serious assassin's creed games. Valhalla is an anti Christian mess that tries to capitalize on the popularity of Viking culture which in turn highlights why this is the most shallow and pretentious of Assassins Creed game. A cool hack and slash game. Easily a 6/10. Even for an Assasins Creed game, the historical representation of the Viking and Christian cultures is laughable. I'm waiting for an Assassins Creed next when you fight on the side of Stalin who is portrayed as the rightful defender of freedom and justice lol.
@kreutzgang I'm not saying the Vikings portrayed here is completely accurate as it certainly isn't and the developers done a very good job of watering their savagery down to make them somewhat approachable by the player however compared to Odyssey and titles before Origins they weren't afraid to also be brutally honest to portray type of savage culture that dominated Nordic civilization which is what i welcome, they still didn't go far enough in my opinion however if they did Noone would want to play as a Viking.
If you don't understand how Odyssey is nothing more than a SJW paradise then thats on you mate, i'd suggest you at least have some basic understanding on what the Ancient Greeks were like and their culture. Odyssey portrays a culture that never existed to make it more relatable to a certain group of people who perhaps wanted to be included and not offended.
@asgardian02 I didn't say the Vikings were more or less Savage than Ancient times, i'm simply stating that to some extent the Vikings were portrayed as the barbarians they were while the Ancients Greeks in Odyssey were portrayed as a morally upright society with similar values to a 20th century society
@kreutzgang Woke in the sense they are pandering to a particular audience, (the far left) and their ridiculous worldview in trying to portray Ancient Greece and it's people as something it certainly wasn't. I don't mind Odyssey however it's as Historical as the Warhammer series and i would have like something more historical. The culture depicted in Odyssey is NOTHING like Ancient Greece, it's way too relatable to a particular audience, the SJW crowd which is why the series while claiming inclusiveness and being PC never had a problem bashing Christianity particularly Catholicism. At least with Valhalla the Vikings aren't dressed up as something they aren't, they are brutal and Savage and the game constantly exposes this, for example listening to NPC's as sing songs about butchering innocents and their views about raiding and looting
@kreutzgang Did you not find the Characters of Odyssey to be utterly boring and lifeless? The writing was so poor that the side quests didn't interest me
