run about 100 hours so far and, overall, I've enjoyed the game, though I agree with many of the criticisms.
AI: the AI is cold and hot and cold again... soldadas completely unaware of the person standing six feet away, in broad daylight, carrying 70 lbs of hardware, pointing an svd at their head. I don't really mind that they can pinpoint you through cover and pepper you like they're all Annie Oakley, because of the cover opportunities, and various armor choices.
if you get killed in this game, it's usually UE.
respawning:
I'm reminded of some of the issues of FC 2 with the quick respawning of soldadas. leave a red area for a few moments to grab some goodies, go back and the same guy is there doing the same stuff. helpful for grinding challenges I guess, but not very good design.
weapons:
one of the great enjoyments of fps is the weapons, surely, and this game doesn't do them all that well. I haven't used them all, but enough to see a world of opportunities for improvement.
water bottle suppressors, pistols that do no damage at point blank range, sniping with silenced pistols, arsenal available on the fly from the magic inventory... *sigh so many weapon issues it's sad.
the good weapons don't do much more than the crappy ones, really.
supremos:
fun, I guess, and certainly helpful, though I've only tried a few. used a couple of the weapons, and whatever... not that compelling.
the one weapon I really like is the magic rifle in combination with the magic backpack. that's fun, shooting guys through buildings and such.
pets:
contrary to many players, I like the pets. mostly ignored them on my first run through, but it's fun leveling their abilities. so far I've only used guapo, chorizo, and chicharon, and I like them, chicharon especially. looking forward to trying boom boom, the cat, and robot dog.
[censored]-fighting:
I question anything in a game where you routinely set human beings on fire that makes me feel ashamed of what I'm doing. as ridiculous and hypocritical as this sounds, something inside sickens me pitting animals against each other, even in a game. would enjoy being the guerilla that destroys the [censored]-fighting enterprise.
dominoes:
yawn... lady on the left cheats.
FarCry 2:
my favorite game and the reason I play farcry. I'm sorely disappointed that the upcoming dlc omits the best villian in the series; the jackal.
with every new release, I am hopeful that ubi is able to recapture even a little of the FC2 mojo, whether it's in the amusing npc chatter, brilliant dialog (the jackals recordings and cut-scenes are literature), or barebones low-tech approach (no heat map or hud, weapons degrading with use). with all it's flaws, fc2 was art.
@ubi-thrupney i agree with the op. not a bug, just an annoyance. i spent a little time shooting out the racks to see if the PA could be disabled, but no such luck. no speakers, still lots of PA noise. making the speakers operationally destructible would be a nice touch.
@carlosart1989 i like your suggestions and admire your optimism.
everything except resolver weapons in arsenal list in inventory has everything marked with 'new stuff' exclamation point marker, unable to clear.
another weird thing... under my list of assault rifles, i'm missing one called '[censored] you castillo' (i think), and when i go to mouseover it, the mouse lags.
this is unacceptable! or at least mildly irritating! jk, just another day, and as my old friend louisiana tom says, "[censored] happens, don't cha know."
@omgilovesteak i've had some ghost markers too; already recovered info or resource still showing the map marker. also a marker on a bulletin board with no corresponding item to recover.
dani can lift and carry a dead guy in stormtrooper armor but can't open a door with a stiff behind it.
@azullfr they posted about this... they're working on a patch to reset the mission for players (like us) that did it when it was mistakenly released. no worries
i like the game. could it be better? of course. expecting any game to be perfect is unrealistic, and getting angry because it's not is childish.
i've run out of stuff to spend my currency on. no offense, but i already dropped a benjy on this game and i'm not about to spend more on the silly 'c' currency. i have uranium making dani's hair fall out, mounds of fish and game stinking the place up, so much metal et al that juan is calling me a hoarder, pesos out the rear enclosure, a pocket full of moneda (but lola's dry), and dani's become a supremo bond junkie.
more challenges, more goodies, more bad guys, more more more...
thank you kindly.
i would like to see a return to fc2 convention with gun wear and weapon drops. makes a great game using only recovered weapons. very cool dynamic when you had a guy lined up and the gun would blow up in your mush. cool stuff. ubi... i know you're out there... watching... a revisit to africa, the jackal, and frank bilders filthy mouth... puh-leeeze....

@rizz768 good call. got 'em all cleared. many thanks!

my no-name guns kick a**
problem for me either resolved itself or maybe the new beta share thing update fixed it; either way, Lola and me are buddies again. that being said, what's the deal with the no-name guns Lola's selling? not complaining, they're sweet, but shouldn't there be a name?
first run through was the dude (since i'm a dude), second was the gal, just 'cause. both characters are kind of clean and pretty to be so bad [censored], especially the gal. if ubi would allow it, i'd play as chicharron.
why? 'cause he rides in the car with you! (also, he poops resources... not really, but that would be cool, right?)
me too. i busted Lola. i put a hole-a in Lola. was logged in at timer roll-over, as has been reported by others. the roll-a put a hole-a in Lola. maybe we should have a roll-a put a hole-a in Lola poll-a?
