Haha, when I found the guy in the first picture I was laughing for a bit.
@parlagulf
I am updating the status of my game here!
So after I filmed the second video, and regained access to the controls for Eivor, I restarted the game again and kept playing despite the weird audio issues. The longer I played the game, the more stable the game got. So maybe it just needed a little while to figure itself out? I dunno, but the programming in there is probably hella complicated and something fixed itself I guess. There were 3 or 4 instances where Eivor got skyrocketed for seemingly no reason, I haven't seen this bug in my game before, but it is a known issue. When I got thrown into the skybox and out of the map, I just exited the game and picked up from my last save, that seemed to be a good workaround. I did notice that whenever I was flung into the sky, it was when I was traversing an object on the usually flat ground, such as a random large rock. There could possibly be an issue with how the edges of some objects are mapped and any invisible ramps connecting them to the ground? I don't know if there is simply no traversable ground under these objects, and the edge of the ground and the edge of the object just don't line up perfectly in very small spots/corners, causing the player model to be flung in a random direction instead of fall through the ground? (I had this issue in a game I programmed in Unity, hahaha.)
I just started up the game again and spawned in with the camera convulsing in 'drunk mode', but the character was not stumbling or acting drunk. It was snowing (spawned in in Ravensthorpe during Yule Festival, so presumably snow was replacing the usual rain of this bug).
I completed the arc in Glowecestrescire and returned to Ravensthorpe, but the Mari Lwyd disguise wouldn't come off. I did a bit of research online, and ended up being able to remove the disguise by equipping a different cloak and toggling the hood on. This made the Mari Lwyd disguise flicker for a moment and suddenly be replaced by whatever other cloak I had equipped. Some other people said that if that doesn't work, to make sure you completed all the trick or treating houses in Glowecestrescire, then try switching up the cloak.
Also! When I was able to remove the Mari Lwyd disguise, all the Helix store items I bought immediately appeared, so maybe there is something going on there?
Anyways, my game is playable again right now and I wish you all the best!
@ajahang Hello!
I definitely understand where you're coming from when you say you're a bit lost in terms of where the story goes from here. I was in a similar position when I first left Norway too. What I did was to just keep following along with Randvi and Sigurd's quests and whatever quests, mysteries, wealths, and artifacts you see on the map. (The artifacts markers were easy to miss in Norway and vastly snowy areas because like the marker, the map was also white, haha.) I'm not sure if you've gotten to it yet, but the game mechanic with Randvi's map table in the longhouse is a good way to track your main storyline progress. Also, keep up with the sidequests that happen in Ravensthorpe, lots of interesting things and cool storylines start there! It probably feels really slow at the point in the game that you are, but once you start exploring England and meeting new characters, you'll get invested! It also speeds up and gets much clearer as to what your goals are later in the story, and you get to take part in some quite exciting things! Also, if you haven't left Norway yet, do not try to complete all the map markers! It'll be much easier later on, when you become super powerful.
I'm 122 hours into this game and am still discovering new things and having a grand time running around! A tip from me is that if you're having trouble with an event or a quest (like a cairn lol), don't be afraid to take a break and even look up help online. Also, in some areas it might be a bit difficult to see, (like a dark cave), hold T to use your torch, or just spam the Odin's Sight ability (hold V).
This game fundamentally is different from I'd say AC1 thru Rouge. I think Unity, Odyssey, and Origins have a similar vibe to how Valhalla plays. It is definitely not on the linear path that Ezio's stories had us traverse, and is very open world. I think this aspect is what hangs up a lot of people who've played the earlier games, they feel as though the series, as it branches out into more different gaming genres, is becoming "less pure" to what AC1 or Prince of Persia felt like. Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing to have games be more RPG than they were before, and I love the amount of customization involved now! Like the gender, boats, armor, mount, and bird can be customized to be whatever you want, be it the silly unicorn boat in the Helix store, or a sick new raven skin. This customization aspect is also very different from the earlier games, and I can see how some people might just want a singular hero who looks the same throughout their game(s). I can also see how this freedom of customization can feel weird in crossover events if the character from another game used did not look like or was not the same gender of character they played in the other game.
Hello! I hope you're all doing well this Winter.
I have several bugs that have occurred in my brief playtime today! I wasn't sure about the best place/thread to post this to, and I couldn't find any threads with the issues I'm having, so I am creating a new one.
To start, I haven't played the game for a couple months, but I updated my game when 1.4.1.1 came out and did not play it until today because I've been busy with school. I don't know if having the game just sit for so long had a part to play in any of these issues, but it is currently fully updated to 1.4.1.1. Another thing I did today before starting up the game was pre-purchase the new Dawn of Ragnarok expansion and the Premium Starter Pack in the UPlay client. When I first started up the game, I opened up the Helix store from the main menu before I loaded my save file.
I then purchased the 2k Niflheim pack from the Helix store. Upon logging into my saved game, I received all the items for the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC and Premium Starter Pack, but none of the Niflheim pack items. After a couple hours, I still do not have the Niflheim items in my inventory, I was wondering if there is a processing timeframe or something that I didn't see for Helix store purchases? This is the first thing I've purchased with Helix credits.
I started playing and I spawned in up with Eivor drunk while it's raining, in the middle of the Clues and Riddles quest, and successfully obtained the Morrigan's Guard wealth from the small tomb to the Southwest of the druid's cabin. I then called my horse and hopped on. Up to this point everything was normal and the game was running well! This is where the many bugs I describe in the following videos' descriptions hit all at the same time.
I've posted two videos to YouTube with (hopefully!) descriptive symptoms of these bugs in the descriptions. They are located here:
This is the first video I took, where my game had effectively broken. At this point, I had only verified my game files once, and restarted the game a couple times.
I was playing the game, then got on my horse and suddenly the only controls that were responding was WASD for movement, C to crouch on the horse (but I could not dismount or use the spacebar to jump off), and holding V for the Odin Vision ability. Despite being at the part of the quest where the game prompted me to use my raven's sight to find the druid's house, it kept saying that my raven was unavailable. I could not use melee attacks or the bow at all. I also could not sprint.
The sound is very echoey and a bit blurry, you can especially hear this with the horse's footsteps and the rain. The sound in menus is normal and crisp though.
This started happening during the Clues and Riddles quest, but based on my research, is a very different set of bugs than people have encountered in the past and posted online about. I also cannot fast travel at this time to another location because of being in the middle of the Clues and Riddles quest.
It should be noted that every time I have logged into my game today, Eivor's spawned in drunk and while it's raining, this should be a known bug already though.
Here is the copy-paste of the description of the second video:
This is a video of me loading into my save file after having restarted the game several times and verified files 3 times. This is the second video I took, where I am actually able to dismount my horse and access my raven. I am also able to melee attack and use the bow again. Though I did spawn in drunk while it's raining, (already a known issue). My audio however, has not improved, and you can still hear the rain and footsteps repeating in what I'd describe as auditorily 'blurry'.
While I was recording the second video, I was able to control Eivor again for the first time since I hopped on the horse and got these bugs.
I'm a bit disappointed that the game is behaving like this, but I know you guys are doing your best to improve gameplay! I hope this information helps, if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them! If I find any other issues related to this, I'll be sure to update this thread. Also to note, all of my drivers were already fully updated before starting the game for the first time today.
@ubi-woofer Hello!
Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately, I do not have any recordings of the crashes, and they are happening randomly, so they are hard to predict. What I am seeing when the game crashes though, is that the game will freeze for 5 to 10 seconds, all menus and everything will freeze and the banners that appear with a new item on the right side of the screen will freeze at whatever opacity they were at when the game crashes. The game then closes and the saves backup to the cloud and a 'your game has crashed' popup appears, I make sure to always send the data. I have not seen any crash cause codes or possible reasons the game crashed. I haven't had it crash during a cutscene or boss fight yet, and I've only crashed while running around in England so far. I don't think it's crashed while I was commanding a ship yet either.
When I have time this weekend I'll try and get it to crash and document everything that happens! I kindof enjoy looking for bugs in this game and telling you all about them, it's like an extra, albeit sometimes annoying, side quest!
Haha, when I found the guy in the first picture I was laughing for a bit.
@generalxiv Hello!
You should 100% make the potion to continue the Asgard storyline! It is one of my favorite storylines in the game and the ending was awesome!!
Things will start heating up in England once you complete the Cent arc, so hopefully you'll feel like there's more of a story line! I felt very similar to you, but my sheer love of the feel of the game, (the dreary rain in mid-Southern England, the pretty trees and cool standing stones, the beautiful snow covered peaks in Northumbria, etc.). I also really like meeting all the different characters, even if I forget about them when I start the next arc, except for some memorable people like Eivor's bff up North and Sigurd and one of my favorites, Ivarr. That guy was crazy and he and Ceolbert really got me invested in the story. I definitely agree with you about Vinland though, I wish that we could have had more connections with the people there, but I understand that historically that's not what happened, though the ending cutscene with the villagers in Vinland was a nice ending for me.
When it becomes available, I recommend the other areas before Sussex, Randvi will tell you why!
I hope you have fun in the game! You're getting to the exciting parts slowly but surely!
@raunchy_ronty Hello!
I'm no Ubisoft employee, but I also had some resolution issues similar to these, (although on Win10). The thing that fixed the problem for me was to switch to windowed mode, to borderless windowed mode, then back to windowed mode, then you can probably set it back to whichever mode you want to use!
I hope this helps a bit!
@ubi-froggard
Hello!
I've switched the game on just now and returned to the tavern where this mystery takes place. All the Viking guys are acting normal again, no frozen man in sight! Maybe it is one of those "turn it off and on again" bugs? Lol.
Have a nice evening!
@ubi-froggard
Thanks so much for your help!
I tried step one and it didn't do much besides toggling my game to windowed mode, but I probably did it wrong, haha. When I tried step two, it worked! I also might've been in borderless windowed mode.. My bad!
Have a nice week!

Hello! I've encountered a bug in the "The Devil Has All The Best Times" mystery in Hamtunscire. The above Imgur link is to a screenshot I took of it. One of the Dane revelers was stuck standing like this with no breathing animations or anything, and would not react upon being hit, like a tree. I had just completed the mystery fine and noticed him after. This is not a game breaking bug, but I thought y'all'd like to know about it. Have a nice afternoon!
