Looking for a way to fake-complete that stupid "get a military plane" mission because airplane control is so horrendous and unusable I will never be able to complete it, and I literally have no other story missions available to me although Anton and Jose Castillo are still quite alive and well, and it appears I either need to get past this mission or quit playing. Note, pitch controls seem to be affected by the "directional controls don't release after pressing" regression introduced in the last patch.
Note to Far Cry devs - airplanes just suck in these games, they sucked in FC5 and I hated the Nick Rye mission, at least it turned out you don't actually have to do it to progress in the game or playing it again on New Game Plus would never have happened for me. PLEASE, for the love of god, never have missions where you have to fly planes as required story missions. If that's too big of an ask, then maybe spend some time actually flying them and figure out how to make them not completely suck.
Even if they do fix the controls I would love to be able to finish what is an otherwise fun game and get past this stupid mission.
I have this problem with ALL land and water vehicles and horses. It's not oversteer, it's that they forgot to check for the player releasing the A and D keys so the steering just continues to full lock even after you've released the key. It centers only when you lift off the throttle. This is a bug and I don't know how something so glaring got past QA testing. Also, airplanes are completely unusable as it appears to do this with the pitch keys.
Honestly, and this is a slight tangent, but airplanes sucked in Far Cry 5 and still suck. if not worse, in 6. I wish they would just remove them from any required missions (thank GOD you don't really have to do the Nick Rye mission in 5 to progress in the game, unfortunately I have no story missions available to me in 6 other than that stupid "get a military plane" one - as you can tell I'm super frustrated and this might be the first Far Cry game I give up on and I don't finish.)
Ubisoft, W T F??? This is a MAJOR BUG that depending on vehicle type, either completely breaks or seriously hampers the use of every vehicle other than helicopters. It is GAME BREAKING and needs to be patched ASAP, not some obscure graphical bug that you fix when you get to it or wait for the next major release. This is unacceptable.
@sofajockey I'm usually having too much fun killing bad guys and blowing [censored] up to care about the gender of the NPCs. In fairness though, the same applies in reverse, I mostly DGAS in FC6 either. That said, FC4 had a few good female characters without making half of the fighting force into women.
@sparhawk122 I think they have no clue that this is unrealistic.... their tech echo chamber bubble is all the perspective they have, they live in a make-believe world where everyone pretends there are no differences between men and women and their entire peer group reinforces it.
@gameguru2018 Yeah it kinda is muscle size in sports and fighting... this is the entire reason we have men's and women's teams. Sorry if I'm bursting your woke bubble of make believe but this is how it is. It doesn't make women "losers", it DOES make them physically weaker and this is a biological fact, regardless of whether wokies believe in biology or not.
@anglerjon Yup. which makes them unusable for anything requiring speed (like overtaking a vehicle to hijack them or racing for a supply drop)... you can still use them to get from place to place faster by using the autodrive or doing a finger dance on the throttle and turn buttons but for "intense use" they're now useless, and don't even bother trying to fly a plane....
Horses are the most useable transport in this game, even before the patch broke everything. You can still steer them with the mouse and don't really need the strafe keys.
@ubi-thrupney When are we looking at for a fix for this? Vehicles are completely broken, which means the game as a whole pretty much is broken. This should be a high priority and not have to wait until the next major update.
Does anyone know if this is affecting all versions or just the PC?
We've got no news or updates to share at this time, but as soon as we do, you'll see it in the News & Announcements forum.
I can hardly wait to see this. "We at Ubisoft are pleased to announce that six months after releasing a major AAA title, we have finally fixed the game's most basic controls."
@ubi-karl Your answer is like saying "sorry your legs aren't working, but no biggie, you can just walk on your hands". Let them eat cake..... The default W key as forward is super awkward for me and others, and after a while one gets sick of accidentally diving out of vehicles from hitting the E key right next to it.
@szfjozsef Make that ALL OTHER GAMES INCLUDING ALL OTHER FAR CRYs
@ubi-gizmo Honestly, I'm not a big game video recording guy and it will be a pain to do this.
However, it's not hard to visualize a video playing, and then the video just stops while the sound continues. Then you hit the Windows key and the start menu pops up, taking focus away from the game and the video plays again, minus sound (since Far Cry doesn't play sound when it's in the background). Then hit the game icon in the taskbar or click on the running video so the game has focus again, and the sound comes back and the video stops again or stops a few seconds later. Wash, rinse, repeat.
@ubi-froggard Unfortunately, no.
@ubi-froggard Yes, as reported in the original post "the ammo loss happens regardless of whether "bullets and beans" is active or not."
Are you able to get my gear selection from the saved game I uploaded for you?
From all the circumstances tied together, it appears to be related to when the game runs its checks internally for how much ammo you should have after a fast travel, and the pot is not present at the destination location, it somehow breaks the check and makes it conclude that you have no ammo "buffs" at all applied. When you refill ammo at a workbench, or fast travel to a location with a pot, it detects all the ammo "buffs" and restores the correct max amount of ammo.
From a program perspective, you'll notice that when you fast travel in Far Cry, it really basically stops and restarts the positional / environmental aspects of game.... You will notice that some things like outpost statuses, ammo, etc are preserved, but other things like the location of moving enemy convoys and weather are not - those get chosen randomly at the time of fast travel. So anyway, after a fast travel it has to calculate how much max ammo you should be able to carry, and to do that it has to enumerate all the ammo-related "buffs" the player has applied so it can calculate what the max amount should be for each ammo type. If that enumeration fails, it goes to the "what to do if there's an error" section of the code and most likely that says "don't crash the whole game, just use the default starting value". So the question will be "what is causing the ammo buffs enumeration to error and cause it to revert to default when the pot is not at the location". Which actually seems weird because enumeration of things that affect ammo capacity shouldn't be location-dependent.... But then there are a few locations where your ammo just magically gets maxed out when you get near them. Strange.
@ubi-froggard Everyone including me is well aware of your policy. What we're not comprehending is why BASIC MOVEMENT CONTROLS are broken and have been since the game was like 3 weeks old, meanwhile we're adding celebrities and movie characters and Netflix series endorsements into the game. It's beyond ridiculous. Fix the basics.
@ubi-thrupney okay, at least tell us by when it will be fixed, i.e. within 1 month, within 6 months, within 12 months, within 36 months?
....ever?
Found overlay on/off toggle, it's under settings - preferences - general.
@ubi-karl Everything on my system is kept up to date, I do this for a living. Monitor is run at native resolution and color. I do run it at 125% because my old eyes can't see it at 100%.
At this point I am thinking it might be related to the AMD overlay that shows when you first start the game (similar to the Windows message about Windows key + G). It's strange because it doesn't do it 100% of the time. I noticed when I just started it up to get some info for another issue that the overlays didn't come up during the intro and there were no freezes. Looking for a way to turn off the overlay in driver settings to test with this.
Apologies for the long wait for a reply, I haven't been on here for a while.
I ran the verification process, would it tell me if anything was wrong? It didn't say anything other than it finished.
