One of the main late-game activities is Special Operations and they're designed primarily as co-op experiences however currently you can only matchmake with random people through Quick Play, which defaults to the lowest difficulty and doesn't allow you to choose the location you want to Quick Play. The Add A Partner menu only supports adding friends but not the other options to join other player's games. Assuming you don't have a friend at your beck and call to play co-op with at the drop of a hat, to play co-op Special Operations you must either play Quick Play and accept that you'll be playing a random map on the lowest difficulty or outside of the Spec Ops menu use the co-op menu to find a random player and pray they stay in the lobby long enough to start a Spec Op and pray further they don't leave immediately. The current system is cumbersome at best and impedes players playing the mode in co-op at all at worst. The game already has a system for joining random players in the story campaign. Why not extend that system for use specifically with Spec Ops? Or adapt the already existing Quick Play feature so players can find/create Spec Ops lobbies for specific maps/difficulties? This would dramatically reduce the amount of steps required to start a co-op Spec Op with random players while allowing players control of the specific Spec Ops experience they want.
