Same here. I see it's now version 188.8.131.52. Crashes after clicking continue game, also crashes after trying to create a new game.
I'm on a PC, Win 10 Pro, 32GB, SSD, plenty of Hard drive space, Votac 1080TI graphics card.
Rock solid performance before the update from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11. Finished the game and was now doing the insurgency.
Tried running it 4 times; crashed each time.
@wild-recon I could not disagree more with you, unless you added to the end of the title "for me". Because we all have different play styles and difference interests. For me, I am loving it - the realism, the AI, the quality of the scenery. As another example of what's not good for one may be good for others - the 3rd person cut scenes... I find them WAY more compelling then seeing every cut scene from the eyes of the protagonist.
So I'm not suggesting FC 6 should be a great game for you, but it is a great game for me... and many others. There are bugs and refinements to be made post launch of course... but I have not found anything yet that was an enjoyment killer.
Take care and hope it grows on you.
@slim5oh So let me see if I understand this. We have the most expansive FC game ever, played on multi platforms. We have PC players that have probably a thousand variations on video cards and 10,000 variations on the pc components they use. All kinds of different video card drivers, some out of date. We have players who report stuff that is in fact their own fault (prefs set incorrectly, etc.). And on and on and on and on... and we should be angered that it has been two weeks and UBI hasn't issued a patch?
Is it me or has the general state of outright anger over something as meaningless (in the scope of things) as a video game become a thing now. It just seems that people go from zero to anger in a heart beat. It drives away the players who are playing a game to play the game.
Gone are the old times of true capitalism. In the old days when you did not like something you would simply walk away from it and spend one's energy on something else. You might complain to your neighbor and friends, but railing in public protest was reserved for truly despicable acts. Now, it seems like anger rules on anything that one disagrees with.
I'm having a blast in FC 6. Maybe because I have lived long enough to know death and loss that I can put things in perspective that people of lessor years can't. I don't know if its that or if its something deeper and more systemic.
I guess I'll just practice true capitalism, shake my head, and go have more fun now in FC 6.
I don't agree to describe the special ops in 6 as "pretty dreadful". As a single player, I found the ones I did challenging.
But I will agree in part to say you are right about the variety factor that New Dawn has. And ND really ramps up the difficulty on replay which I also love a lot compared to 6. 6 attempts to ramp it up, but I feel the whole "stay in shade and keep the pg cool with water" works at first but then becomes so repetitive. At higher levels, it is quite frustrating for a single player, as the timer counts down awful fast. I really would have wished they just did the pg cooling bit in one or two special ops and reverted to the "package" style of ND for the rest.
@ubi-karl A couple of things.
I appreciate that a UBI representative such as yourself reads these posts. But since UBI never talks back (I'm speaking broadly, like giving the community some feedback on what they see as matters they will be working on), I've come to the conclusion that this is an attempt by UBI to *appear* interested, but really not so. It rings hollow because UBI is silent.
Secondly, even if there are some that take the AI and like it, this is 2021, not 1998. I expect in 2021 that different levels of players can have levels that they can enjoy - and not a one size fits all. That's what difficulty levels are suppose to be for - people playing at a level that suits them. So the fact that the AI suits some people and not others is not a justification for UBI blowing off those of us that don't want to fight with and as bullet sponges. Leaving us out - we are the people that have been loving the FC series for years - is a strategic mistake. There may have been an excuse for this in game made in1998, but there is none in 2021.
Heck even FC 1 had a range of difficulty levels. FC 2 actually added infamous after launch. All of them had levels that offered both a challenge and immersion. But not FC 6 overall.
Take for example snipers. In new dawn they are deadly. In FC 6 I just about have to get 100' away and do a dance to get their attention. I mean 'cmon.
Really, if UBI is not interested enough to keep the community informed on *their* thinking why should teh community be interested enough in telling our friends what a great game this could be. And buying future UBI games.
I run with a clean screen, everything shut off except certain messages. Today my version went to 18.104.22.168 and suddenly enemies outline when they are injured. So I can see them now through solid objects. I'd rather they not be seen. Again, this is only after an enemy is injured. I've gone through all the preferences and outlines are off (and even if they were on, it is set to a different color than red).
Help. As a revolutionary in Yara, I don't have access to xray vision glasses.
Again - just to emphasize... with version 22.214.171.124 it worked perfectly, with 126.96.36.199 it does this. Hope it can be fixed, its an immersion killer for me.
I do think they have some combat balancing to do and am hoping that happens in the 1st patch.
I have been playing on the PC and I have impeccable aim so I always hit the head. But for those that haven't achieved my level of combat greatness or who are playing with controllers which (I understand) can be less precise than a mouse.... I can understand how things can become frustrating in combat.
I do miss being able to pick up fallen weapons, that was always a lot of fun in prior games and sometimes could make difference in combat. Not sure why this mechanic was dropped.
I found FC 5 mind numbing easy and it wasn't until the moders gave us more options that the game became challenging. New Dawn on the other had started out slow, but after a time combat became very challenging. I can still see those spider-man dressed enemies in my sleep. I am hoping that FC 6 becomes more challenging in combat. I do think the enemies are smarter about flanking etc, but dumb in other ways. To be honest, I feel like I am the Terminator right now. Again, perhaps the patch will rebalance.
Not wanting to hop into the "It's too easy" VS "No it's not" dialog, I just wanted to say that to a degree you can rachet up the difficulty by shutting off most of the helper settings - you know... those that give you 23rd century capabilities in backwoods Yara. Shut off the mini-map, tagging, shut off outlines so you can't see through buildings and rocks. It makes the game so much sweeter to play without these on, and it does make it more difficult. It's still not the same as having something like "infamous" difficulty level, but no one should complain it's too easy if the "enhancements" are on. Just saying.

@theexplosiveguy I have my issues with 6, but I think your political affiliation is greatly shading objectivity for the rest of the game. Almost identical rpg stuff was there in New Dawn, and like New Dawn, most of it can be shut off. I've got no issue with things like that as long as they can be turned off. I'm happy if someone who does like that enjoys it.
Skill tree - yeah I miss that too but it's not the end of the world without it. I'd say it was an attempt to try something new and will leave it at that.
My biggest issue with FC 6 - and maybe the only one of import to me - is how easy the combat generally is. A movie without conflict is no movie at all. An FPS with little combat challenge is boring. FC 6's combat was hit and miss and mostly miss. So much so that I just could not bring myself for another game walk through.
But getting back to wokeness... and any other political non-sense in any game ... that's what reviews are for. Anytime someone complains about something like that and it was clear as can be in the zillionyou tube videos what was in the game... well... I think that is the real issue, one of education. Check out the videos before buying a game.
@crypto196 Totally agree. If you've played New Dawn, the repost reset brought on stronger enemies which was a great amount of fun. Trying to take an outpost with those red spider-man looking enemies was always a blast. It is a shame that this feature was left out of 6. Maybe it was because of budget I don't know. Seems to me it would have helped up the challenge in the game which is the one thing sorely lacking.
@ubi-nacho I wish I had the confidence that this was going to be fixed. It's was changed either by accident or without announcement several patches back. I would have thought that since outlines are SUPER ANNOYING to players who don't care for them, that it would have been a priority to fix.
If you are on a pc you can rid of a lot of the outlines by editing the gamerprofile.xml (a simple text file), finding "enemytagging="1" and changing it to "enemytagging="0" . This shuts it off except when you use the binocs. If you use the binocs, it will turn the outlines on of those enemies viewed and they will stay on. The solution for me was not to use the binocs anymore. But that is a bummer.
I've only had to do the file editing once, it has not been over written by subsequent patches.
I have a sick feeling in my tummy this may not get fixed for real. Shame.
This question has been asked by other players a zillion times. The answer I often see posted by UBI reps on this board is that "some players like it". It's a non-answer. I think the FC 6 dev team did a lot of things right - from story to characters to cinematography. But challenging combat took a back seat, at least to those of us that like a real challenge. Instead they focused on stuff like supremos, etc.
As far as two levels of difficulty go, that would be fine as long at the more difficult one had a leveling system that worked. The game should get harder automatically for good players. I see some hints of that, and it has been mentioned by UBI, but I think the game combat mechanics substantially fell on their face. This results in sleepy play difficulty, ala bullet sponges. Sometimes the combat rises up to challenging, but I'd say 85% of the time it is way too easy and hence, uninspiring and unstimulating. I've always replayed FC games over and over again - since FC 2. But I just can't muster the energy or desire to go back through FC 6. I've switched back to New Dawn and a modified FC 2 which both have enjoyable and stimulating combat (as well as FC 3 and 4, 5).
It's too bad and in fact kinda sad actually.
@tcarlisle2012 You were 100% right that "auto-tagging" wasn't always forced on by default. I'm on the PC, and with a minor text edit, it will PARTIALLY fix the problem. The enemies are still tagged if you use binocs, however the always on feature is shut off.
On the PC, go to:
C:\Users[YOUR PC USER NAME]\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 6
With note pad or a text editor, open : gamerprofile.xml
Search for "TaggingEnabled" which will be set to 1. Change it to:
That will do the trick, except for binocs (and possibly scopes, but I don't use them...)
I made this changes months ago when UBI's force change occurred and even have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and it has stayed in place.
Maybe UBI posts real feedback on game bugs somewhere, but it comes across as silence. They have people on the forum who will pass along issues but then teh great wall of silence is all that is heard after. Shame.
As for the AI in 6, it's the weakest part of teh game in terms of engagement. FC 3,4,5 and ND offerred exciting combat. 6 occassionally has good combat but usually its a boredom fest. And I am a FC fan. Just sayin'.
I think clearly the devs were going for a much "bigger" game with 6, with a wide assortment of characters. When there are but a few characters as in FC 3, it's easier to come up with a few that are real stand outs. But in 6, there was so many, they begin to be a bit diffuse.
As for Juan, he was clearly a fix for a design decision which was to have a lot of weapons and mods and a system to carry all of them around with you in the world. It's like they wanted us to get all excited about having access to any weapon in the inventory, but for me at least that fell flat on its face. "One weapon one ammo type" at a time just kills it for me, and the lack of ability to pick up an enemy weapons really takes a major part of the fun away. I can't blame UBI for trying something new... that's what 90% of complain about sometimes, but the weapon system... hence Juan "Right tool for the right job" non-sense. This was a fix looking for a problem.
I am a fan of FC 6, but a game like FC 4 / FC 5 / ND kicks butt when it comes to excitement in combat.
Not to mention the outpost resets which I love.
Which of the FC game experiences are the best in combat in your opinion? Just the combat itself (not plot, scenery, characters). Combat includes the shooting, the sneaking, sufficient level of challenge, and weapon mechanics. Just the combat experience itself.
As for me, I find FC 4 to be extremely satisfying combat wise. Especially the fortresses. Next, New Dawn, after one gets past the lowest levels. Redoing an outpost in New Dawn with tougher enemies is extremely satisfying.
Far Cry 6, to me, is a mixed bag in terms of combat. Sometimes good, sometimes not. Actually, I'm a big FC fan and I find FC 6 combat experience too often too easy. One of the endorphin pumping aspects of the earlier games such as FC4 and New Dawn is picking up enemy weapons. It makes the combat more exciting sometimes. The system in FC 6, which gives you access to all your weapons 24/7, just doesn't add to combat fun in my opinion. Swapping different ammo types in earlier games also added to endorphins, particularly when using a bow going from regular arrows to fire arrows and explosive arrows. Making the switch in the heat of battle in those pre-fc 6 games is just plain exciting. Other endorphin pumping aspects of the pre-FC 6 games is treatment of health. In FC 6 its hardly ever an issue. It may be a great convenience, but endorphin pumping it's not.
I don't mean to bash FC 6 ... but I think the heart of the FC games is the combat. We all enjoy stories, characters etc. But combat is the core of a FPS. FC 6 did a lot of things right (Story, music, etc), and often better than its predecessors. The combat system, unfortunately, isn't one of them at least for me.
Long time FC player here. I wish there was some kind of "what's happening" from UBIsoft in terms of FC fixes and updates. Some developers are real good at keeping their community informed *after* the launch. But UBISoft is not one of them, and I think it has a chilling effect on the fandom and worse, potential new players.
Not sure about how anyone else feels, but before I buy any game I not only look at reviews, I pay a lot of attention to the developers frequency and nature of updates.
Biggest question I have now... the patches have been addressing bugs, but is there any intention to address things like getting rid of the forced enemy highlights (can't shut it off in Prefs even through there appears to be a setting for it...) as well as making the game more challenging - both have a lot of passionate fans upset. But all we hear from UBI on these and subjects like these is silence. I love the FC game series, but I just don't think this is good business practice nor good customer service. It may make their lawyers happy... but they are the only ones. I bet even the actual nuts and bolts development staff would like more fluid communication.
@flybyme I did not experience the blur filter effect.((I am on the pc). And I am not saying that it was motion blur per say. My point was to back off on some videos settings, and see if the CTD's stop. I backed off on 3 or 4 and they stopped. After an update or two in the future, assuming we get them, I will reenagge these to maximum and try again.
I have to say I can both understand your feelings and admit that I felt equally sad and betrayed by that plot point...
There is one "however" and one "I wish" I'd like to state here:
- As sad and as tragic and as (frankly) disgusting nthat plot point was... let us not forget that innocent people of all ages have been killed and tortured throughout the game. We don't form an attachment with them because they are rarely involved in the story, but they are none-the-less victims. Just say'in.
2.I really think that UBI soft would make a lot of new friends if they gave us an ENDING CHOICE. Click here for happy ending and click here for dramatic ending.
In the original star wars viewers walk away from that movie elated... their hero's win and are rewarded. What if instead we have Han kill Leah and Chewbacca? I don't think the fandom would have handled that well..
Far Cry 3 had an ending choice... stay on island or leave with friends, kill the girlfriend or not.
Games are suppose to be about entertainment, not having the writers and directors impress us with their dramatic chops.
