Same here. I see it's now version 184.108.40.206. Crashes after clicking continue game, also crashes after trying to create a new game.
I'm on a PC, Win 10 Pro, 32GB, SSD, plenty of Hard drive space, Votac 1080TI graphics card.
Rock solid performance before the update from 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168. Finished the game and was now doing the insurgency.
Tried running it 4 times; crashed each time.
@wild-recon I could not disagree more with you, unless you added to the end of the title "for me". Because we all have different play styles and difference interests. For me, I am loving it - the realism, the AI, the quality of the scenery. As another example of what's not good for one may be good for others - the 3rd person cut scenes... I find them WAY more compelling then seeing every cut scene from the eyes of the protagonist.
So I'm not suggesting FC 6 should be a great game for you, but it is a great game for me... and many others. There are bugs and refinements to be made post launch of course... but I have not found anything yet that was an enjoyment killer.
Take care and hope it grows on you.
@slim5oh So let me see if I understand this. We have the most expansive FC game ever, played on multi platforms. We have PC players that have probably a thousand variations on video cards and 10,000 variations on the pc components they use. All kinds of different video card drivers, some out of date. We have players who report stuff that is in fact their own fault (prefs set incorrectly, etc.). And on and on and on and on... and we should be angered that it has been two weeks and UBI hasn't issued a patch?
Is it me or has the general state of outright anger over something as meaningless (in the scope of things) as a video game become a thing now. It just seems that people go from zero to anger in a heart beat. It drives away the players who are playing a game to play the game.
Gone are the old times of true capitalism. In the old days when you did not like something you would simply walk away from it and spend one's energy on something else. You might complain to your neighbor and friends, but railing in public protest was reserved for truly despicable acts. Now, it seems like anger rules on anything that one disagrees with.
I'm having a blast in FC 6. Maybe because I have lived long enough to know death and loss that I can put things in perspective that people of lessor years can't. I don't know if its that or if its something deeper and more systemic.
I guess I'll just practice true capitalism, shake my head, and go have more fun now in FC 6.
I don't agree to describe the special ops in 6 as "pretty dreadful". As a single player, I found the ones I did challenging.
But I will agree in part to say you are right about the variety factor that New Dawn has. And ND really ramps up the difficulty on replay which I also love a lot compared to 6. 6 attempts to ramp it up, but I feel the whole "stay in shade and keep the pg cool with water" works at first but then becomes so repetitive. At higher levels, it is quite frustrating for a single player, as the timer counts down awful fast. I really would have wished they just did the pg cooling bit in one or two special ops and reverted to the "package" style of ND for the rest.
I run with a clean screen, everything shut off except certain messages. Today my version went to 22.214.171.124 and suddenly enemies outline when they are injured. So I can see them now through solid objects. I'd rather they not be seen. Again, this is only after an enemy is injured. I've gone through all the preferences and outlines are off (and even if they were on, it is set to a different color than red).
Help. As a revolutionary in Yara, I don't have access to xray vision glasses.
Again - just to emphasize... with version 126.96.36.199 it worked perfectly, with 188.8.131.52 it does this. Hope it can be fixed, its an immersion killer for me.
Not wanting to hop into the "It's too easy" VS "No it's not" dialog, I just wanted to say that to a degree you can rachet up the difficulty by shutting off most of the helper settings - you know... those that give you 23rd century capabilities in backwoods Yara. Shut off the mini-map, tagging, shut off outlines so you can't see through buildings and rocks. It makes the game so much sweeter to play without these on, and it does make it more difficult. It's still not the same as having something like "infamous" difficulty level, but no one should complain it's too easy if the "enhancements" are on. Just saying.
@ubi-karl A couple of things.
I appreciate that a UBI representative such as yourself reads these posts. But since UBI never talks back (I'm speaking broadly, like giving the community some feedback on what they see as matters they will be working on), I've come to the conclusion that this is an attempt by UBI to *appear* interested, but really not so. It rings hollow because UBI is silent.
Secondly, even if there are some that take the AI and like it, this is 2021, not 1998. I expect in 2021 that different levels of players can have levels that they can enjoy - and not a one size fits all. That's what difficulty levels are suppose to be for - people playing at a level that suits them. So the fact that the AI suits some people and not others is not a justification for UBI blowing off those of us that don't want to fight with and as bullet sponges. Leaving us out - we are the people that have been loving the FC series for years - is a strategic mistake. There may have been an excuse for this in game made in1998, but there is none in 2021.
Heck even FC 1 had a range of difficulty levels. FC 2 actually added infamous after launch. All of them had levels that offered both a challenge and immersion. But not FC 6 overall.
Take for example snipers. In new dawn they are deadly. In FC 6 I just about have to get 100' away and do a dance to get their attention. I mean 'cmon.
Really, if UBI is not interested enough to keep the community informed on *their* thinking why should teh community be interested enough in telling our friends what a great game this could be. And buying future UBI games.
I see a lot of discussion about all the female characters in the story, and while I may not agree with their specific concerns (and to be honest, biases and in some cases prejudices), the situation does beg the question as to whether such a seemingly inordinate % of females are possible in a Latin based revolution on a small island that has been ravaged by a brutal dictator and before that, years and years of being cut off from the world.
The example of Israel comes to mind. They are not on a physical island, but they most certainly are on a cultural island with plenty of surrounding and nearby countries that would like to wipe them from planet earth. They conscript women along with men for one simple reason - they need all the bodies they can. According to one article I read, today about 25% of all officers in their military are women. Career officers are not, so far as I know, conscripted.
Israel started to encourage female military personnel since 1948.... the US... dare I say... MUCH later. Said another way, they have a long history of including females in their military. In FC 6 we learn that some of the female leaders were themselves in the military at one point.
Now 25% is not the solid 50% or so we see in FC 6 - but there we see a government that drafted its population to work the fields and factories. The "draft" is demonstrated in the first few scenes of the game and mentioned again as well as demonstrated a number of times through the story. It is plausible that the male population - over the years as well in recent years has been disproportionately ripped from society.
Lastly, we aren't privy to what castile did when he first entered office. Did he suddenly arrest the male revolutionaries before they had a chance to react? We don't know, it isn't spoken about, but it's entirely plausible. Authoritarian leaders go after their adversaries with abandon. This would leave a disproportionate number of females.
Who knows for sure if what I said above is fully true for FC 6, but it is at least a plausible explanation for the observed female leadership numbers in the game.
One of course can come up with their own theory - UBI is pushing a liberal narrative, women have taken over UBI, etc. And if that is what you believe then that is what you believe. But for me, I'd rather adopt what I believe is a plausible explanation that supports the overall narrative of the game. After all, it's a game, not an analysis of an actual government.
If anyone has actually read my rather long post my hats off and I thank you!
I finished the game after nibbling away at it since it released October 7th... so it took me just over a month. What surprised me the most is how I felt after the completed story. I felt compassion for the characters and their country. Like I just watched a good movie. Scratch that - an emotionally compelling movie.
The strange thing is I did not know I felt like this until the very end of the story.
Full disclosure - I have grey hair and a grey beard, so I no doubt view both life and FC 6 through a different lens than younger gamers.
To me, a FC game is about immersion. Immersion in the story, in the open world environment and in the combat. In the run up to game release and since release, we have heard a lot about the story from UBI, the Yara world and in weapon customization. Even about all the effort that went into the music. These are indeed areas that FC 6 excels at.
But when it comes to the main reason all of us play FC games, that actual combat, this was hardly mentioned other than the "resolver" stuff and customization, which was drilled into the public over and over.
The actual combat in "Action Mode" is way too easy. Between both you and the enemies being bullet sponges, far too often it simply lacks challenge. Even when the special forces show up.
You know what I think happened? I think they tried to have a self leveling system which would automatically ramp things up if the player was good. But it's just not tuned right. It's not working well.
Was combat done right anywhere in the game? There was one place where it was... and in retrospect it was obvious a lot of time and effort when into this: the battle to destroy the two ships at the end of the tutorial island. When I did that mission (and have done it several times now) - EVERYTHING was so spectacular - down to the rising crescendo of the music. I came out of that thinking "My God, this is going to be the best FC experience of them all - and maybe the best gaming experience of my life!". And then....
plop. Bullet sponges and uninspired combat for the rest.
Don't get me wrong - I want to love this game and i am hoping either by patch or mod it can be brought to its full potential.
I am just thinking that the UBI team put all the effort into story and open world, and appeasing the 14 year olds who like arcade combat and crazy weapons like surpremos but just did not take a swing at total greatness for this game. In the case of FC 6, 2 out of 3 *is* bad.
This is 2021, and by this year, we should have the option in preferences to give veteran players the challenge we hoped we were getting.
I like the game. But I don't love it.
I've gone into preferences and shut off as many of the aids (such as the hud radar) as I could find. But when I get into combat I still get x-ray vision and can see enemies through buildings and rocks etc which is very immersion breaking for me as a well experienced player. Did anyone see/find a way to prevent me as the player from having such super powers?
I know we'll get some mods eventually that will deal with this, but just in case it's there and I did not see it, wanted to ask the community.
@ubi-nacho I did have outlines shut off... and I could still see through buildings, rocks etc. But ya know what did the trick? Shutting off enemy tags! I wanted the tags off anyways. So I got a 2 fer.
Love the game... especially now that I have it customized the way I like it! Thanks for following up.
@law-ii THANK YOU! IT WORKED! I don't know how permanent it will be, but for now it's an excellent work around. Here's some shorthand on law's fix for those who want to employ it:
(1) On a PC, go to:
C:\Users\(your user name)\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 6
(2) Edit gamerprofile.xml.
(3) change TaggingEnabled="1" to TaggingEnabled="0"
(5) play the game.
