[RESOLVED] [16 Nov, 2021] [PC] Game won't launch / Black screen at launch following hot fix | POST HERE
Same here. I see it's now version 18.104.22.168. Crashes after clicking continue game, also crashes after trying to create a new game.
I'm on a PC, Win 10 Pro, 32GB, SSD, plenty of Hard drive space, Votac 1080TI graphics card.
Rock solid performance before the update from 22.214.171.124 to 126.96.36.199. Finished the game and was now doing the insurgency.
Tried running it 4 times; crashed each time.
@wild-recon I could not disagree more with you, unless you added to the end of the title "for me". Because we all have different play styles and difference interests. For me, I am loving it - the realism, the AI, the quality of the scenery. As another example of what's not good for one may be good for others - the 3rd person cut scenes... I find them WAY more compelling then seeing every cut scene from the eyes of the protagonist.
So I'm not suggesting FC 6 should be a great game for you, but it is a great game for me... and many others. There are bugs and refinements to be made post launch of course... but I have not found anything yet that was an enjoyment killer.
Take care and hope it grows on you.
UBISOFT should be ashamed - almost 2 weeks with NO patch and thousands of people complaining about crashes
@slim5oh So let me see if I understand this. We have the most expansive FC game ever, played on multi platforms. We have PC players that have probably a thousand variations on video cards and 10,000 variations on the pc components they use. All kinds of different video card drivers, some out of date. We have players who report stuff that is in fact their own fault (prefs set incorrectly, etc.). And on and on and on and on... and we should be angered that it has been two weeks and UBI hasn't issued a patch?
I don't agree to describe the special ops in 6 as "pretty dreadful". As a single player, I found the ones I did challenging.
But I will agree in part to say you are right about the variety factor that New Dawn has. And ND really ramps up the difficulty on replay which I also love a lot compared to 6. 6 attempts to ramp it up, but I feel the whole "stay in shade and keep the pg cool with water" works at first but then becomes so repetitive. At higher levels, it is quite frustrating for a single player, as the timer counts down awful fast. I really would have wished they just did the pg cooling bit in one or two special ops and reverted to the "package" style of ND for the rest.
@ubi-karl A couple of things.
I appreciate that a UBI representative such as yourself reads these posts. But since UBI never talks back (I'm speaking broadly, like giving the community some feedback on what they see as matters they will be working on), I've come to the conclusion that this is an attempt by UBI to *appear* interested, but really not so. It rings hollow because UBI is silent.
Secondly, even if there are some that take the AI and like it, this is 2021, not 1998. I expect in 2021 that different levels of players can have levels that they can enjoy - and not a one size fits all. That's what difficulty levels are suppose to be for - people playing at a level that suits them. So the fact that the AI suits some people and not others is not a justification for UBI blowing off those of us that don't want to fight with and as bullet sponges. Leaving us out - we are the people that have been loving the FC series for years - is a strategic mistake. There may have been an excuse for this in game made in1998, but there is none in 2021.
Heck even FC 1 had a range of difficulty levels. FC 2 actually added infamous after launch. All of them had levels that offered both a challenge and immersion. But not FC 6 overall.
Take for example snipers. In new dawn they are deadly. In FC 6 I just about have to get 100' away and do a dance to get their attention. I mean 'cmon.
Really, if UBI is not interested enough to keep the community informed on *their* thinking why should teh community be interested enough in telling our friends what a great game this could be. And buying future UBI games.
I've been wanting to love FC 6 but because of certain things only liked it. Now Title 5 gave us a higher difficulty level, outpost resets, loadouts and multiple ammo for a weapon (when available).
I am so very happy. Please a big thank to all programmers, managers and graphic artists.
Lov'n it. Thank you thank you.
I do think they have some combat balancing to do and am hoping that happens in the 1st patch.
I have been playing on the PC and I have impeccable aim so I always hit the head. But for those that haven't achieved my level of combat greatness or who are playing with controllers which (I understand) can be less precise than a mouse.... I can understand how things can become frustrating in combat.
I do miss being able to pick up fallen weapons, that was always a lot of fun in prior games and sometimes could make difference in combat. Not sure why this mechanic was dropped.
I found FC 5 mind numbing easy and it wasn't until the moders gave us more options that the game became challenging. New Dawn on the other had started out slow, but after a time combat became very challenging. I can still see those spider-man dressed enemies in my sleep. I am hoping that FC 6 becomes more challenging in combat. I do think the enemies are smarter about flanking etc, but dumb in other ways. To be honest, I feel like I am the Terminator right now. Again, perhaps the patch will rebalance.

There once was a game in gaming land that came out of nowhere. The people who played it were amazed at the sense of open world, the combat, and the plot. The word rapidly spread, here was a superior game. Shouts of "More, more, more!" could be heard throughout gameland.
The words were heard. A company called UBIsoft decided to buy the game, and develop a sequel. The sequel would bring along the sense of open world, an even larger story, and more weapons into the mix. The developer added additional features, such as a buddy system and tape recordings of the bad guy. These additional features were not required to be used. Indeed some users would enjoy them and others ignore. It was all good in gaming land. Shouts of "More more more" were again heard throughout the kingdom.
And there would be more. Fans of the series could hardly wait. The new game, #3, would explode into the gaming world with a force that was never heard before. It featured an even bigger and more complex story, more freedom of player choices, a ton of weapons, both stealth and crazy combat. It also feature a lot more side activities, which although still not required, exponentially increased player choices. And like #2, players could choose to do them or ignore them. It was all good still in gaming land.
Again, shouts of "more more more" could be heard. #4 came along with a new story, some new twists in game play, and another great villian.
"More more more" could be heard with a rising pitch and energy that shook the gaming world. "We want more!!!!! But make it different and keep it the same".
The developer listened. In every respect, #5 crashed down all the boundary's in terms of story and world. They didn't just add more player side activities and expand player choices, in almost every respect #5 exploded in player choices and activities. Again, the quest "extras" could often be safely ignored by the player.
And then there was 6, which exploded once again all the boundaries as well as player choices. The world was bigger, and there was a huge amount of side activities that players could choose to do, like chicken fights. Or they could ignore. In fact, #6 had so many choices, which gave players many choices in game play, that some were heard in gaming land complaining about game design. Sonic and visual design exceeded all previous Far Cry games. And combat, after a "Title 5 update", was more than exciting especially in the added "Guerilla" difficulty mode. Great care had been taken during development to help the majority of players have a better combat and stealth experience.
The echos of disdain for #6 reverberated by those most vocal in the community. "I hate Supremos! - I want my money back." "What, only Amigos? I want my money back". "Worst FC ever!" was heard loudly, which confused the developer as well as legions of less vocal players who were busy enjoying the game.
"It's not exactly as I want it!!!!" Cries of persecution could be heard in the community. "The developer doesn't care!!! They haven't done what I wanted".
The developer was confused, although there were many valid complaints most of which where eventually resolved by the developer, there was a platitude of gamers who didn't know they could play #6 as they wanted. Or choose not too.
Meanwhile, in quiet homes throughout gameland, millions of players were enjoying #6 the way *they* want to play it.
You don't hear much from us, because we are too busy freeing the people of Yara.
"I hope someday you'll join us... and the world will live as one..."
After finishing the game, start a new one in guerilla difficulty mode (a new level that was added by UBI in the last update... crazy more challenging)
...as well as shut off most if not all of the 22nd century cheats such as tagging, radar, world icons etc. Then enjoy.
Also - maybe stay away from the wild supremo stuff unless it is absolutely needed.
Play FC the way the God intended.
Bonus points: if you haven't already, try the game in coop.
FC 6 is, without a doubt, now that Title 5 update is in place, the best FC game of all of them. So when people write how awful it is, I just don't get it.
@eark428 Same thing happens to me. I think this has been reported.
I'm on a pc. Just started a game. So I can't move much, just a little side to side. What I tried, and it worked, was to quit to main menu then select the very game in the saved game menu and things let me play.
Once in a while it happens in game. When it does, I use the map to fast travel somewhere and it breaks the spell.
And yes, like you, it only started once Title 5 hit.
I'm sure it will be patched... I hope...
@deflagosseur I agree that would be a nice feature. For now, on PC, one could have the music playing in the background using something like VLC player. Not the most elegant way to do it but possible.
You can purchase FC 6 music from a variety of sources and it is freely available on you tube, too.
Wah wah wah wah ... whine... whine... whine... whine... and the crying goes on. Now that we have reached the Title 5 update which corrected some of the very things people are still complaining about (e.g., seeing enemies through walls - preferences now properly work for that), FC 6 is without a doubt the best crafted FC game ever made. Every FC game since the original has evolved some more than others... and the whiners bash it when stays the same and they bash it when it goes for something different. There's a common thread here.
There's also a whole crowd that drags their political views and bias and pounds on the game like it was some kind of political statement itself. It's just a game. It may bring in current themes but it is not in itself running for office and making its views the reason for its existence.
And yeah these people who yell "If I only knew!!! I would not have bought it... I want a refund!!!".... how can someone in 2021/2022 not know what a AAA FC game game is about at launch time?.. I mean there are 10,000 different you tube videos out there picking it apart for good and for bad. Do your homework. Wait a few weeks after launch. Don't like what you see? Move on. And don't, ever, never for any game FC or not pre-order.
The thing many people don't get about FC 6 and FC's in general, is that you can play it they way YOU like. Don't like the all powerful surpremos? Don't use them. Want guns blazing? Do that! Want Stealth? Do that. Want 22nd century military bells and whistles when you look at the world with every threat and target marked? Do that. Want a clean screen and almost no bells and whistles? (After Title 5..) do that! Don't like cut scenes? Skip (most of) them.
And I gotta make mention of one thing about FC 6 after Title 5 - I am having an absolute blast in Guerilla mode. What a challenge. If someone could measure my brain's endorphine output it would be pegged at maximum. And being able to change ammo types on the fly - thank you thank you thank you!
So look... the game may not be everything we want it to be. And gamers, including me, want a game to cater to us. There's a great deal of flexibility in game play in FC 6 that previous FC's did not reach. I've played FC 6 a lot since it launched, and it took me a long time (and patches through title 5), to see that there is brilliance in this game design. Is it perfect? No. But it's the most engaging FC game ever.

Being a retired programmer I am always interested in the behind the scenes testing and thinking behind game approaches. This article delves into the stealth aspects of FC 6. It explains some of the testing they did, and explains the goals and and reasoning behind the many changes in stealth mechanics. Holstering was a change for a reason - and probably one of the most in-our-face changes. But there were many other changes.
One that I never fully understood was the dark dashed lines on the map. I kinda got that they were more dangerous areas, but reading about it and what it fully means pulls back another layer in the AI that drives FC 6 combat. Fascinating.
