@selim-i_evvel Couldn't agree more. People assume I think glad is now D tier because I am complaining about the changes they made to him but I'm mostly complaining on the fact that his entire playstyle and mix ups were changed by the testing grounds. I went from a scary unpredictable opponent who you had play careful against to a redactable feint spammer that you can simply attack constantly without being punished. That entire playstyle is Exactly why I picked up glad and main-ed him after orochi but I was a little late to him because I only got him to rep 23 before the testing grounds happened. And the reason I dislike the changes so much is because I hate his new playstyle and have a hard time winning with it.
@yoshiarts I think its perfect. The hit box has been fixed, stamina consumption balanced out, the recovery has been reduced. He is quite possibly the most balanced and satisfying hero ever released. The only thing everyone and I are asking for is faster executions. The one where he sheathes his sword should kill on slash and the sheathe animation has decent timing. The only thing wrong with it is the fact that he pauses mid sheathe and then fully sheathes it. I think they should update it so it could at least kill on slash and remove the pause animation upon sheathe, don't get me wrong, it's very sick but it in real games it gets old and annoying really fast.
Glad needs a buff to be honest. Glad lost his stamina punish from punches, OOS damage, and overall pressure just so he could be able to access skewer from everything. This is not too much of a nerf in lower levels but in high level play everyone simply light attacks you out of all your mix ups thus forcing you to rely on either light parries or deflects which don't even work against characters with HA. No character should have to rely on light parries and or deflects to be able to win a duel. (not as easy to do on console) A character's kit alone should be enough to win the duel. With half his kit gone glad is left with a pointless punch which is used to for safe escapes with its I-frames, a viable but reactable toe stab, and chaining capabilities that people 9 times out of 10 don't fall for until you've already lost 90% of your health trying to land any mixups. Not to mention dodge attacks are the new trend for ubi so everyone simply doge attacks out of reactable toe stabs or punches. And his 4 lights don't matter because again this is high level play, nobody is gonna fall for light spam. His only "big damage" punish now is the OOS skewer which will never land because his GB range is soo short people simply immediately dodge backwards with their guard on top as soon as their stamina bars go away. Thus avoiding any GB or skewer attempts entirely.
- He needs his OOS toe stab punish back but this time it returns stamina to both players similar to cent and jorm's "cut scene" attacks so its balanced and can't be spammed like it used to. Or his skewer needs to have more range similar to orochi's unblockable so people can only side dodge or parry to avoid it thus making it actual OOS pressure. This will prevent the "oh I'm almost out of stam? lol I'll just immediately back dodge and constantly repeat it knowing glad can't reach me xD" situation as a whole.
- His follow up heavy also needs to be undodgeable to keep up with dodge attacks and dodge happy people when they are OOS.
-At least one of the changes mentioned will be enough to keep glad up to the recent ubi standard with character viability.
@editorial Gladiator can no longer unbalance opponents please update his guide.
So I am a orochi and glad main, after the glad rework I dropped him because his playstyle wasn't for to me anymore. So now I'm left with orochi, he just got a rework and let me tell you this...I have never been soo damn satisfied by ubi making changes to a character except when they nerfed giffin, that was also a different experience. I can't stop playing orochi now. The current state of orochi is how I envisioned him to be back when I first picked him up and it is amazing! Yes the fact that he can counter a counter is a tad bit excessive but the hyper armor nono deflects were very much needed. This simple change of orochi being able to interrupt hyper armor with his deflect opened up a whole window of opportunities and encourages me to play him more often because now I don't struggle against unga bunga hyper armor champions like berserker, highlander, and raider. Orochi in his current state is EXTREMELY close to being perfectly balanced for both the opponent and the player, all they need to do is remove his ability to deflect a attack immediately after a whiffed kick because it is unfair to the opponent. Now all I'm asking is that gladiator gets some love to so he can be fun and viable to play more often. All I ask for is that his deflects interrupt hyper armor aswell because he is Literally Skewering the opponent. The fact that the opponent can hyper armor through being skewered makes as much sense as kyoshin's execution where he throws a wooden sheath through someone's head. Another thing I ask for is that his bashes guarantee 1 singular light, thats all, just 1. Then he can finally be rewarded for properly executing a deflect instead of eating a hyper armor infused heavy and he can also benefit from using his bash because a reactable unblockable immediately after isn't really working because people either feint to a light or toe stab which could have been achieved without a bash and the waste of stamina. There is no reason to complain about him this way and say hes op because all deflects from everyone should interrupt hyper armor and a 15 dmg light after a successful dodge bash attack is nothing new. Everything else can be kept the same he just needs those to changes to revive his playstyle.
@picoancus anything helps at this point xD
@deathtocakl you have fun playing against conq? You need to be arrested.
@picoancus This thread was meant for discussing glad not throwing silly angry insults like a little girl who wasn't invited to her friend's birthday party. That being said, I would like for you both to keep it as such. Glad is a decent hero. It would be optimistic to call him very strong, that was pre-rework glad. With people being able to dodge back out of skewer when oos his pressure becomes obsolete, especially when he himself runs out of stamina attempting to take away his opponent's stam. Now we are left with his mix-ups. Glad can feint a unblockable after any attack, this completely restricts his mix-ups to one or two attacks before feinting his skewer and giving his opponent frame advantage. This new playstyle he was forced into by the rework is very predictable and more importantly reactable.
@deathtocakl Looked u up, you're pretty good. I was very impressed up until I saw your best character was conq. Conq doesn't need buffs, he needs an entire playstyle rework along with jorm. Those two are the most toxic heroes to play against and need to be looked at asap. I play on ps4 and tried to look myself up but I keep getting errors sadly, my psn is Twitch_rickrob20.

@deathtocakl Any removal of a move set granting damage to the user is a nerf. That is quite literally the definition of a nerf, though I see what you are trying to say here. His oos 30 damage toe stab wasn't the only thing taken from him so don't try to sugar coat what happened and simply state your opinion without leaving information out. This way newer people can get a better understanding of every change that took place.
@picoancus so you are saying glad is S+ tier?
@deathtocakl Gladiator is underwhelming . He's just not as weak as current shinobi and Jorm is all. If you think he's good you straight up need to get better at fighting him.
