I'm very sorry to say performance with 1.1.1 is no better than 1.1.0
I am still getting around 50% less performance than 1.0.4 and it still seems to be down to very low CPU usage across my four cores, which does not exceed 50% overall.... Please listen to us when we say a change made in 1.1.0 has broken CPU utilisation and crippled frame rates, making the game unpleasant to play, if not unplayable in certain scenarios.
I find it hard to believe whatever change was made in 1.1.0 cannot be reversed to give back 1.0.4 performance.
Please separate this issue out from other problems and give us the fix we deserve.
Requested a refund on my Gamepass, which I only bought yesterday, and now adding insult to injury is 25% cheaper today, and yet I can't download the content.... So REFUND please.
I have opened a ticked and expect prompt action. If I don't get it by the end of the day it I'll request a chargeback via PayPay... I am entitled a refund by law, as I don't have the goods I paid for.
The entire PC version of this game has been a mess, and still is.... I'm am done.
Like others @UbiKobold I feel the latest communication telling us to now open a ticket is very annoying. For those who have uploaded their info here, as asked weeks ago, are we now supposed to do this as well? I'm not sure it's worth the effort as I can't be bothered to play the game any more. The facts are simple: patch 1.1.0 has caused a major performance drop that is plain and clear to see, even on console... My son is playing on an Xbox OneS and post patch performance is terrible, and there for all to see, and as it's fixed hardware I can't believe your devs do not know what is going on, and why. I have been willing to cut slack over the festive period, but this is becoming amateur hour stuff now.
I've spend £150 GBP with Ubi over the past few weeks with PC Valhalla, Xbox Valhalla, and PS4 Fenyx Rising, which was disgracefully price tanked just two weeks after release, meaning us parents who bought games for Xmas have been royally ripped-off. Well, it's not a mistake I'll make again.
@longjohn119 ..Said "I don't think the problem is CPU usage per se it's a clock frequency problem ..... From what I've seen other people describe it's putting the CPU in a power savings mode which will lower both the base clock and CPU voltage"
This is not the case for me. I've monitored my CPU during gameplay, and the clocks remain at their highest frequency all the time. However, usage is massively reduced compared to 1.0.4 and the CPU hardly breaks a sweat, whereas before the fans would noticeably spin-up and percentages were 75% and above, with better loading across the cores. Now one or two cores will sometimes spike, while the others almost idle. Even the GPU remains at around 85% so it doesn't seem to push the system at all.
This is regardless of settings, drivers or utilities to give the game as much priority as possible.
@zarael1721 I absolutely get the frustration, but at this time I'm going to cut them some slack. It is still the Christmas holidays after all, and we are in the grip of a worsening pandemic, which must make working conditions far more difficult than usual. I'm still managing to enjoy the game by locking the frame rate to 30fps and doing lots of side stuff that keeps me away from the most busy areas. Not ideal I know, but I'm still getting a lot of fun and pleasure out of the game despite the much lower performance. My son is playing on an Xbox OneS and the fps issue affects his gameplay too, in fact it's much worse on the low end consoles, so they are going to have to address it sooner rather than later.
What would be nice is if a staff member could drop by and give some reassurance things are being done to sort this out, and maybe a rough timescale, even if it's a couple of weeks I rather know.
I've done everything my end I can think of to improve the performance on my PC, from trying multiple drivers, to using Process Lasso to devote as much CPU time to the game, but nothing helps at all.
Fingers crossed for a solution soon.
@slevexz I'd rather have the game fixed, but I think we deserve something in terms of compensation.
@braindead_paul Yeah, I've noticed this as well. Some of it is just down to some poor quality textures, but things like the blocky water and fire is something else, and it ruins an otherwise nice presentation... The water especially, as it looks great close too. When in command of your ship towards the bow, on the inside also becomes blocky/pixelated.... it's really strange and like nothing I seen before. Settings, drivers or tweaks make no difference, so it's inherent to the engine, or the way it's used in this game.
These entries are all still there in the cfg, apart from GI and tweaking the values seems to make little, if any, difference on performance overall. The areas you mention, where the worst drops occur are all due, in the most part, to heavy AI load, rather than rendering load. Yes, the GPU is pushed more in these areas, often to 99%, but the CPU remains half dormant, and this seems to be the real reason performance is now so much worse than it was prior to 1.1.0....... Even dropping the all the settings to low does not recover the performance in heavy AI areas, as the CPU is just sitting there doing very little.
No ammount of tweaking (I think I've tried everything) will solve it, so we either play as it is, or give up and move on the other games.
Sadly, whatever they did in 1.1.0 will not be fixed... There is no true support here, just 'call center' bot type operatives, drafted in, who give the same response over and over, and if I'm wrong Ubi, prove it!
@ubi-borealis Well, thank you very much for responding, even if if did take some time. Reading, not just this thread, but, many others in this forum, it does seem like there is a very basic and standard set of responses, which is often repeated throughout a thread, and this gives little confidence that anything is truly being looked into. This particular issue has been running for many months now, so you must have a handle on what we have explained over and over. There have been some other unrelated performance problems posted in here by some, that clouds things somewhat, but, there must be enough proven info gathered that performance has been hampered following the release of update 1.1.0.... Maybe a developer could step in here and find out more if needed?
Personally speaking I have seen some improvement with the last two updates that give, at least, a more even performance profile, but, I'm still getting a far lower average frame rate than I did on release. I would like to see this restored if that is possible.
I have now finished the main game after 150 hours, but continue to complete tasks on the map. I loved 'almost' every minute, and am looking forward to the first DLC, but I would be even happier if this issue were to be resolved for those whose experience has been spoiled.
@quinch1199 I have requested a refund as I only bought the Gamepass just over 12 hours ago. I'm fed up that this morning it was being offered for 25% less, yet no one has been able to make use of what they paid for, as they had issues delivering the first DLC. It's totally unfair to discount a service before you can even use it... utterly terrible customer care and consideration.
For everyone who paid full price for the Gamepass, they should request a refund... or at least a part refund to match the 25% offer.
A disgusting way to treat your customers Ubisoft... And lets not forget all the other problems we have suffered with this game, which has been worse than some early access titles, or beta tests I've been in
@smrtiak-svk No, they just look wrong, including your shot, which maybe slightly less offensive, but shows overdark weird browns and blue hues. You can't honestly say the shots I posted look good?
The weather rendering is broken, simple as that.
@meanhx Thank you for your observations, confirming my own. I hope Ubisoft respond, as I would consider the weather, and artefacts resulting from it are visual bugs. The clouds in Ireland in real life are no different to those in England, or anywhere else, so this must be and oversight, as they could not intend it to look this way.
Please flag this as a technical issue and pass it on the dev team for evaluation, and a fix.
While I'm at it, the night sky lighting/weather is IMO broken as well, with the sky being totally desaturated, giving it a weird unbalanced look. If the space between clouds was darker it would look better, as this simply looks horrible. I hope this was all unintentional as it might get fixed. Otherwise they have ruined an amazing looking game.
Again, here is the main game at night, which looks really nice at night, with sky and terrain nicely balanced.
@d4rky26 Yes, there seems to be more noise and pixelation in them as well. They just look bad a lot of the time, whereas in the main game the clouds and weather look stunning.
Here is another shot. They might look dramatic, but overall they look pretty unrealistic. Notice how any atmospheric perspective, and haze on the far mountains is not applied to the clouds, making them look far too dark for the conditions. Something is not right with the weather.... and it rains too much, even for Ireland
There seems to have been a change in cloud and water (ocean) rendering in the Wrath of the Druids DLC resulting in some very ugly artefacts, as shown below. The clouds also become way too dark, and almost black at times. The two shots are both taken at Ultra Settings, with a clean cfg, and all nVidia profile settings at default.
Something appears to have gone very wrong with changes made to the DLC and I hope it can be looked at, as it really spoils the look of the game in these circumstances.
Main game, similar position, height, time of day, same settings, but looking far, far better.
@ubi-mark Incredible!... It's a shame, but I shall never buy a Ubisoft game again.
@ubi-mark
Why am I currently being refused a refund when I have not launched or downloaded the DLC? Your own website policy states I have 14 days to do so, so there should be no question.
Do I have to take this further?
