I am part of a group of friends who absolutely love competitive shooters.
Our main game is CS:GO, but we haven't had as much fun playing it lately and we want to switch games.
We've had our eyes on Rainbow Six Siege for a while, because it seems to be exactly what we are looking for.
But there is one technical issue that would prevent one of us from playing, and many other potential players are affected.
The worst part? Ubisoft doesn't even need to do anything to fix it, just send an e-mail and voila!
So now, you think I'm saying that there is a way for Ubi to sell more copies of their game without extra work, and they won't take it?
The answer is Yes. Please let me explain.
As you may know, the game is protected by the BattlEye anti-cheat software.
Now, their developers have announced that they will make the game compatible with Steam Deck if you ask them to enable support:
What this means?
Everyone who will be using a Steam Deck, as well as all current Linux users (over 1.3M users on Steam) will now have access to the game.
Now, my friends are not Linux users. They still use Windows 10 on their computer like the majority of players.
Even then, they are not going to buy this game, or at least not until they can all play as a group.
Today, we ask you: Please think about this. It impacts more people that you think.
