When I'm in the game menu according to Geforce Experience overlay I have a GPU usage around 80%, however in game I have only around 58 - 60% while the CPU is around 14%
Even with a 3080 ti with 4K at high settings, disabled RTX and with or or even without (enabled) HD Textures I get around 50 fps only.
I compared quickly with Far Cry New Dawn. With a DSR Resolution of 5431 x 3055 and GPU Usage was 99% and CPU usage 21% while I had around 55 fps.
So something definately feels wrong here..
On a side note..I heard people saying that the game uses only one CPU core and that may also be a reason for other performance issues. I didn't test that yet tough.
Does anyone else having similar issues and @Ubi staff can someone help here?
I agree, it's indeed very blurry with AA enabled and even with additional sharpening like reshade the result is not really great.
To avoid this problems I have to increase the resolution through DSR to 5120 x 2880. This demands many fps which makes it not a proper solution.
Please Ubisoft provide us a turn off completly option like it was there in all the previous Assassins Creed's already.
I'd rather have some flickering instead of a forced blurry image.
This whole gets more and more ridcolous.
Just look at the article here:
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/future-assassins-creed-valhalla-title-updates-will-be-less-frequent-but-more-refined/: (https://videogameschronicle.com/news/future-assassins-creed-valhalla-title-updates-will-be-less-frequent-but-more-refined)
And read this statement:
"Our community is at the heart of everything we do, and we always strive to provide you with great experiences,” Ubisoft wrote. “That said, we recognize that some of our recent title updates may not have met your expectations or been up to our standards.
“We have made several changes to production pipelines and tools so that we can deliver more robust updates”, it claimed.
See the community is the heart of everything..probably that's why they are ignoring it in such a consequent manner
This biggest topic ignored is probably this here..but there are others too like these ones, to just give few examples:
https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/86962/please-let-us-disable-the-temporal-anti-aliasing?lang=en-US&sort=newest_to_oldest
https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/77400/anti-aliasing?_=1619643533779
https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/79491/blurry-visuals-specifically-water-odin-sight-highlighted-enemies/6
For me it looks like they are just plainly ignoring all kind of technical issues. Still not sure if they are just not competent enough to fix or just plainly ignorant.
They look into fixing quest bugs and of course their cosmetics to grab some additional cash but simply don't give a poop about any PC related problems or requests.
As long as people somehow can play it..no matter how bad the experience is it's not important enough to look into it.
Reminds me also of an old statement from Ubi at the time of AC Unity when they claimed 30 fps feel more cinematic
https://www.technobuffalo.com/assassins-creed-unity-framerate-30fps-more-cinematic: (https://technobuffalo.com/assassins-creed-unity-framerate-30fps-more-cinematic)
Another patch, still nothing changed, still no communication.
Honestly, this is a really big disappointment.
Even more that there is no reaction to this topic and Ubisoft just keeps silent about it.
Again, it's like we are asking for a very big thing or something new here.
It's about something which was always possible in all the previous games and suddenly not anymore. Normally you could hope for upgrades or improvements in new games.
Instead we recently got alot of downgrades quality wise. And now even settings wise?
For Example: The Division 2 which in my opinion looks worse than the first part in quite some aspects, especially the NPC's.
Some of them don't even move their mouth while speaking when optaining a quest..
Also Ghost Recon Breakpoint doesn't look that great but is needing such high end specs if you want to play in high quality. Even the characters / NPC's here don't look that great for today standards.
And even Watchdogs legion in which not only the NPC's look less detailed but also the animations look pretty bad compared to the previous games.
To not just bash here..the Raytracing stuff looks really, really pretty there. Also I like their DLSS implementation which doesn't makes the image to blurry / ugly if you use the quality setting.
However, that doesn't justify the bad animations (which actually was one thing Ubisoft was always great in the past) / lack of detail for the character models.
Back to Anti-Aliasing in Valhalla - it's not like there is any good reason to not provide any option as it can't be worse than AC Unity which was flickering terribly without Anti-Aliasing.
But even if, I would still prefer an option to decide on my own which one I prefer.
So again, please Ubisoft give us an option to turn off the Anti Aliasing completly and / or get rid of this blur.
I understand and accept that many people like or don't care about a blurry image, but I and other people do.
I'm an Assassins Creed fan from day one and played all the games so far.
But this blur really gives me a hard time to enjoy the game and I didn't play it yet mainly for that reason.
Please don't ignore and let us down..
@glaston76
I guess it's just a matter of taste..simple as that. I just prefer it without, especially when not in use.
If you enjoy or don't care about it, great for you. I don't ask it to be removed for everybody aswell, however it doesn't hurt anyone to have an option to hide it
@zarael1721
Unfortunately also even the request to add an option to disable Anti-Aliasing was neither implemented nor acknowledged.
It's just a shame that they removed the option in this game at the first place. Instead of giving more options they even reduce it and force blur which even if just a minority of people dislike alot.
While I know this problem may be minor and not important for most people for me it's really bothering. As I stated already in other threads (which got obviously ignored) I didn't play the game yet for this reason.
But reading all this comments here and the little reaction from Ubisoft side I fear despite that it's most probably a very quick thing to do they may just continue ignoring it..
I was a big fan of Ubisoft games, especially the Assassins Creed games since day one. But the direction they are going and the way they treat customers make me really doubting to buy further Ubisoft games anymore at release. I often even preordered them but if they continue this way I may just grab them in a sale in the future.
From a technical point of view most recent Ubisoft games were quite a disappointment in my opinion. Even tough they post nice videos explaining all the great settings and options the games have I don't feel like the games look much better than the previous games..in some parts they look even worse.
Like Division 2 in which some NPC's don't even move their mouths while speaking while providing new quests.
GRBP which costs so much performance but doesn't look that great either. Or Watchdogs Legion which has a horrible LOD, flickers even with DLSS and a DSR Resolution above 4k..and from the ugly looking hair I don't even have to start. Even some of the animations look quite cheap compared to previous games (but maybe I just remember it wrongly). Also they linked some effects to Anti Aliasing. If you disable Anti Aliasing you won't be able to put Reflections Quality to Ultra or even enable Ambient Occlusion. In my opinion such things are also a downgrade. But hey atleast they made a great video before release and show how great the graphic menu and all the options are..
Back to Valhalla they didn't add but just removed options to disable Anti Aliasing..
This is just very disappointing as there was a time when Ubisoft Games despite some downgrades and sometimes alot of bugs in the beginning still were technically very advanced (Animations, effects, overall quality).
Unfortunately I can't see much of that left these days..sure they add some fancy (and indeed good looking) Ray Tracing effects but downgrade or just don't put much effort in many other parts of the games at the same time.
Back to this issue here..it's even more sad that even major problems like this here just takes them ages to not just fix but even acknowledge.
The communication is almost non existent and very poor. And the customer support here feels like they are just here to calm people down and gather some time at best.
The way custommers are treated here is just sad.
Just wondering if Ubisoft even recogniced or read these posts yet. Would be great to know if it's on their radar.
Unfortunately I didn't hear or read anything about this from Ubisoft side yet.
As these kind of option in most cases is probably a little thing to add it would be great if it could be done in one of the next patches.
But even an information that someone is looking into it would be appreciated.
Even tough I don't have this issue mentioned here I still follow this thread to see if someone at Ubi ever decides to look seriously into this topic and fix it.
But simliar to the requests regarding bluryness and asking for option to disable Anti-Aliasing they don't seem to care at all. Tough here they atleast pretended to look into it. The other mentioned topics they just plainly ignored without even feel the need to even reply.
It's so ridicolous that if it wouldn't be so sad it would almost be funny.
The way they threat their customers..they are on a good way to become one of the companies with the worst customer support in the industry. They have a forum and support to pretend they listen and care but simply don't give a **** about the issues and wishes of their customers. Good job.
Dear Ubisoft Support,
Since the game release several people here complained about the blurry graphics compared to Odyssey.
Most of people including me assume it's related to the lack of an option to turn off the Anti-Aliasing, which was present in the previous games and for some reason isn't anymore.
Since there was never a real reply or even acknowledging of this request I start this thread and link all kind of other threads related to the same topic i could find quickly here.
I again ask the support / devs to please have a look into this and either provide us an option to disable the Anti-Aliasing (and or whatever else causes this blur) or let us know why this is not possible.
Please stop ignoring this, it's just plain furstrating.
I understand it may not have been the top priority to look into but I think after all this months we really deserve a reply regarding this topic.
Even if this topic doesn't seem to be a that big issue for many, for some including me it really is and makes the game so much less enjoyable than it could and should be.

I won't buy the newly released DLC (atleast definately not for the full price).
I may also buy future UBI Games only in sales (I used to buy most of them full price in the past).
Not feeling like supporting such a greedy and ignorant company anymore.
Sad and very disappointing what this once great company became..
@Ubi-Milky ,
"The 30 FPS limit to cutscenes was a design choice by the dev team as this was implemented in older Far Cry titles too."
That's simply not true and you know that. The truth is that every previous Far Cry title had butter smooth 60 fps cutscenes without any black bars (I know, because I played every one of them from start to finish). Hell, even the first Far Cry from 2004 didn't had 30 fps cap in cutscenes. So every other Far Cry titles in the past have beautiful butter smooth cutscenes without black bars, FC6 is the first that gave us this cancer. It's a massive downgrade in the franchise, it's such a shame, especially the custscenes were one of the strongest points of Far Cry games. For example FC5 was mediocre gameplay-wise, but the cutscenes were just phenomenal! Only the first intro sequence in FC4 was a pre-rendered 30 fps cutscene, but every other cutscene after that are not capped. After 17 years your team decided to massively downgrade the franchise in the cutscene section which is critical to the story, this non-sense decision completely destroys the immersion.
Today I tried to fresh trial version which was introduced today, and you know what? Nothing was improved. NOTHING! 13 months after release the cutscenes are just extremely poor quality, stuttery mess, from a multi-million dollar project from a multi-billion company. You see where the issue is, right?
"but we have been told that these things are not easy fix for a game already launched."
Not easy means it's possible but ther is no will for it. After 13 months since release the cutscenes are not fixed even after multiple users complained about this. That means that the devs won't fix the cutscenes in the future. They have absolutely no intention to it. That's clear now.
"The black borders present on ultrawide monitors is also intended as the cutscenes were not designed to be displayed on a widescreen resolution."
In which universum does the team live? Just check the latest Steam Hardware Survey: almost 90% of users are using 16:9 aspect ratio, almost 90% and the devs made the cutscenes for a few percent market share and ignored the 90%! What the hell is going on in the FC team? Did all competent people left the company? I don't see any other logical explanation to this huge downgrade. The responsible people for this decision should be fired immediatelay and should go to movie industry instead of ruining the gaming industry which such cancer ideas.
Far Cry series was one of my favorite game series but FC6 is such a mess, a bad joke in terms of cutscenes, that I won't buy it. I was always interested in the FC series since the first one and I was a fan since FC2, until now. I completely lost any interest in FC6 because of the extremely ugly cutscenes. So sad because I was happy that environment interaction (vegation bending) is back (it was dropped in FC5 and New Dawn), wind effects are cool and after 9 years (FC3) the rain is also back. These things help the the immersion with these features this could have been the best episode in the series but with the actual horrible ecutscenes now it's the worst in the franchise.
Couldn't have said it any better..it's just a disgrace and a real shame. Again we are not talking about a small indie company or game here.
They have time and ressources for more content to charge more money out of people but don't feel any need to listen to their (paying) customers and fans.
The technical department (or the responsible ones which made this stupid decisions and worse, arent willing to improve it) are just terribly ignorant.
Maybe this is something little for many, but for some of us it isn't. It literally annoys me every single cutscene and prevents me of enjoying. So it's not a little thing for me.
But hey why care about fans which played (and bought) every single Far Cry Game so far..lets just keep ignoring them.
Seems there will be a new expansion arriving very soon.
The price seems quite high, so I hope it will deliver better and tackle the concerns mentioned here and hopefully add the improvements to the main game as well.
Given the price tag i think it would very well be justified to implement it.
I just tried it again since I upgraded my graphic card and thought I give it another shot, maybe somehow its better now or I can stand it now.
However I just can't get over how terribly bad this cutscenes are. This stutter feeling is just such a pain to watch. I usually really enjoy cutscenes as I appreciate a good story and also high res quality.
The Quality of the cutscenes textures like models etc. are also pretty good and they would be quite enjoyable but this stuttery feeling makes it impossible for me to enjoy them.
I constantly feel like if there isn't anything I can do on my end to just improve and get rid of this shaky stutter scenes as it just makes me dizzy.
I tried every setting and everything I could think of but no change at all. It seems these scenes, (as a good example the ship escape scene in the beginning) were just processed in the worst way possible.
If it would atleast be stable constant 30 fps but this feels like something between 20 - 30 fps and constantly ditching which just make it look terrible.
I'm really, really disappointed and find it an insult to have to watch 30 fps (which are not even stable and worse than in old gaming days) cutscenes in a tripple A production on a high end PC in the year 2021.
The game runs wonderfull smooth and looks decent otherwise but this cutscenes litteraly ruin the experience for me.
And I'm extremly disappointed that Ubi never seems to give a ****** about anything people ask for regarding graphics.
They literally ignore every single request and if even reply just say we forward it to the devs, which if it even happens (which I'm not sure about) never do something about it.
And I'm not writing this because I love to hate and rant (I really wish I could instead of writing this just enjoy the game) but because I'm just so disappointend and annoyed.
I experienced this behaviour already several times here with different games and paid full price money to some ignorant people who don't care about their customers.
It's just a terrible customer support hiding behind a nice looking forum and pretending to care.
But it's all just marketing and about calming down people.
It's just sad and disappointing..
Hello Schother12 thank you for your reply all these months later.
The 30 FPS limit to cutscenes was a design choice by the dev team as this was implemented in older Far Cry titles too. The black borders present on ultrawide monitors is also intended as the cutscenes were not designed to be displayed on a widescreen resolution. All of these topics have been fed back to our Far Cry team as feedback from players, but we have been told that these things are not easy fix for a game already launched. Hopefully, we may make some changes to future Far Cry titles to make them more accessible for ultrawide monitor uses.
As this issue is not a bug but intended by design, we will move this topic to our General Discussion area as feedback, thank you for providing your experience of this!
Hello Ubi-Milky,
First of all thanks for not ignoring my message, I appreciate it.
Regarding the 30 fps - I might be mistaken but i think there was only one Far Cry title with 30 fps cutscenes and that was Far Cry 4.
I don't really understand why we go back in time instead of forward. Technology develops but some developers tend to use go backwards and also give less options instead of more (also for example AC Valhalla doesn't offe disabling of TAA).
I'm curious if there is any benefit of 30fps cutscenes I'm not aware of?
If it was a design choice someone must have thought that there is something good about it so I would just like to understand what it is..?
Apart from that there is another problem about the 30fps here as they don't feel even like solid 30fps. As much as I dislike a limit in general I also had other examples which didn't feel that stuttery as it does in here.
So something just doesn't feel right even with the 30fps here as they are not smooth (as much "smooth" as it's possible with this limit).
Regarding the black borders I'm not even talking about ultra wide (which also should be standard in a triple A title in 2020 in my opinon).
But what I'm referring to is the black borders on a standard 16:9 Monitor. In game you have a proper full screen but for cutscenes it just adds up a black border on top and bottom.
And this is something I assume is just a kind of overlay on the actual full screen which probably could be disabled by the devs quite easily.
I know from few other games which have the same and you can just remove it with external tools without any issues. Unfortunately there is no tool for Far Cry as far as I know.
Probably this is again kind of a design choice (which is also ok) but it would be super nice if developers would just give an option to turn it off for those of us which don't like it.
Cause especially if you play a game on a relatively small screen (not on a big tv screen) on pc this black borders are just annoying.
I would appreciate if you could forward this information to the devs again.
It would be amazing if they could still do something about it..even if just for the black borders.
But if they don't maybe as you mentioned atleast consider it for their future games.
Thanks again
@Ubi-Mark and especially Ubisoft
Of course no update, reply or anything from Ubisoft anymore. I shouldn't be surprised as this forums existence seems mainly to be there to pretend there is a support and someone who actually cares.
That this isn't the case shows the fact that all kind of requests to improve or add any options (also in other games) will be plainly ignored. Despite pretending they never seem to look into anything which is not super game breaking (and will probably be publicly mentioned by medias etc) and don't care if people who payed for their games are able to enjoy them or not. Ingorance and lack of interest for the people who actually pay for their games are the sad reality of this company.
I just did a new attempt to play the game and was again disappointed how bad and unpolished the cutscenes of this game look.
They are stuttery, shaking and don't even feel like a solid 30 fps. This lock to 30 fps is ridicolous itself but then even not being able to make them atleast feel stable and smooth is just very poor execution.
The cutscenes itself, texture quality wise are pretty good, but it's hard to enjoy them the way they are. Maybe I'm spoiled from other games which do it actually well but it's really not enjoyable.
From the black borders I don't even need to start. I will never understand why some developers are so ignorant to force some useless things or effect like this on people and refuse to give an option for people to disable it that they can enjoy the game the most.
I don't even get it why someone should feel great about having a nice full screen picture and then suddenly in cutscenes having black borders with low fps.
Do you really think this helps the immersion? To get from a full screen smooth gameplay to a stuttery black border image in cutscenes? Who came up with such an idea?
Maybe some people enjoy it which I don't understand but hey I don't even mind if it is this way as long as I get an option to change it. But no..
Ubisoft sitting on their high horse obviously don't feel the need and don't care. Rather release some more dlcs and make more money than actually listen to the people which already gave them their money.
Seing such flaws in a triple A high budget game of 2021 is just a shame. I could kinda understand for low budget productions and indie games if they would offer limited options (tough I also wouldn't like it there) but often they do actually even better than what Ubi delivered here. The fact that these things weren't a problem in the previous Far Cry games makes this even more shamefull.
This will probably again just being ignored, but I can just express my disappointment, not just of not delivering but even more about the constant refusal of doing anything about it from Ubisoft side. Shame on you.
Dear Ubi Support,
Since now the major dlcs and all was already released, any chance you consider implementing the small requests here?
Can you please pass on the request to the devs again?
Even if a hack, a tweak or anything can help to achieve one of the two or even both, I'm fine with that.
However it would be nice if for once Ubi devs would "listen" (and actually care) if people wish for settings which should be there at the first place,
I don't think there are many gamers which prefer 30 fps cutscenes over 60 or better unlimited, so no real reason to go there in the first place anyway.
Also would be really interesting to know what the responsible thought why its such a great idea to go for 30fps cutscenes in 2021. Is there a benefit for anyone at all?
For the black borders..I assume it's just a kind of overlay so it should be super simple to give an option to remove it, or am I wrong here?
@yarra_min_bashi
Yes, pretty please and also an option to turn of the black borders..
@ubi-theberry
Thanks for getting back to me.
That's very unfortunate to hear. I really hope they consider it as it's most probably something simple to do for them but would have a pretty huge impact for my experience with the game.
In any case I appreciate your Feedback and still hope to get some positive news in the future.
Just wanted to follow up is there any news on that topic?
Any chance you may ask the devs (again)? Maybe it's just a simple thing to do for them.
I would even be fine if there is an option to disable it through a config file or anything.
But just would appreciate it so much if we get an option to uncap and remove the borders aswell..as it really destroys the immersion for me..
