I don't mean in actual cutscene dialogue, in those they actually went to the effort to record lines for both "he" and "she". But in the open world, like a story event, NPCs will always refer to Eivor, regardless if you're playing as the male version, as "she". And don't hit me with this "canonically Eivore is female" bull. You *know* the reason both sets of dialogue haven't been recorded is a result of pure laziness. This idea that you can make a character canonically one gender but give the player the choice of playing as a man or a women anyway, it smacks of having your cake and eating it too. It totally destroys any kind of immersion when you hear someone refer to the big bearded viking as "she". Also you just know that if the genders were reversed here, if we could choose to play as a fully voiced and animated female version of a character, but the dialogue still often referred to her as "he", there would be *screaming outrage* over it and it would get patched within days. There's a god damned double standard here and you know its bloody true.
I don't see what was wrong with Odyssey's way of doing it, having two characters that you pick from, one male, one female. Hey, why not just have a female character? What would be wrong with that? Be weird in a game about vikings tbh. And the marketing knew that too. That's why we've ended up with this weird situation where when the question "can you pick your characters gender?" is asked, the only real answer is "Well yes, but actually no."
Can we at the very least, get a re-recording or the dialogue that correctly refers to the gender of the version of the character you are playing? The actual main quest cutscene dialogue does, so why not all of it?
There's no way to know, and they are often a higher level that whatever area they are in. The only way to know what level they are is to start the fight and then either just give up or die trying to fight them. I'm on very hard mode so naturally I can't hope to beat a level 360 boss at level 188. It just feels dumb for Eivor to walk up to the corpse and then walk away without interacting. It should be possible for me to see the level of the boss as soon as its revealed on the map.
This would also help for when you need to leave it for a while and level up a bit, so you can check back what level it is if you've forgotten. It would mean less ridiculous immersion breaking googling. And there's no clear source of information, just a bunch of articles with unreliable information that is often wrong.
Just bring over the same setting from Odyssey; light, medium and heavy scaling. After doing the first 2 areas, both only level 20, now every area the story takes me to is way too easy. I really don't see why this game doesn't have a scaling system whereas literally the last game did. Its like, a consciously stupid decision. These open world action RPGs are always killed by becoming way too easy, way too fast as a result of getting over leveled. I suppose I *could* just not level myself up, not spending any skill points after reaching the level for that area, but that's really dumb and a pain in the [censored].
So you know how the game's level difference is in the three categories of green (lower level than you), grey (same level as you) and red (higher level than you). Well its more like, when you're in the same range as them they will become grey. But is there an effect say between fighting a level 90 enemy at level 70 over 60? Or it just, the same regardless of weather your the same level exactly or just in the ball park. I'm asking because these side bosses are really really really hard, but I don't want to change difficulty because the rest of the game is pretty easy. It feels lame to change difficulty settings just because of the stupid hard bosses only to make the rest of the game trivial.
Basically; is it worth waiting a bit to level up before attempting this really hard boss, that is grey (level 90), but only just (I'm 65). Or will it not make any difference until its green? Because that would be lame, in which case screw it I'll put the game on normal. Otherwise though I'll leave it till later.
