The timed bear one with all the stalagmites proved to be a nightmare one for me,, the one that gives you 2 mins 30 seconds in order to kill all the enemies. That was a nightmare enough for me so anyone who has any extra things hampering their ability i can well understand them getting very frustrated with it.. to the point of them not bothering to try to continue.
For people who've hit 'end game' and completed much of the content this mechanism would help a lot.. instead the lack of it leads towards the complete shelving of the game on your collection because you've ran out of story now and completed probably far more content than you would do or even 100%'d the game.
Allowing these characters to enter the game and go into hunt mode for you would add to the end-game excitement that is quite clearly .. missing.
I get the same issue with sound, to the point its like they are singing from 'down river' while i'm on the riverbank wondering why i didn't get on the boat
No workarounds i've tried work, its like its positiional audio where sound volume is judged in relation to where the camera is compared to the source of the sound. Evidenced when you are in a different view of your boat when you are 'following river' as the singing gets even lower then.
Its a shame because i'm sure when they mixed these pieces of music/songs they were intended to be heard.
If i see items that are plainly ridiculous, i tend to just ignore them. Whilst it will never be something i change my mount to, or decorate my settlement with etc, I bet there is people playing for who that is the best thing they have. While it makes their character/settlement frankly silly looking, it never displays in MY game, so for this reason i'm not bothered in the slightest by it.
Once i'd got my armour(s)/weapon(s) of my choice i concentrated on that gear and got used to how it affected my combat/defence and then after this collecting armour/weapons was more of an exercise in collecting/clearing map locations than it was 'want or need'.
The only interface other players get to my game is either by the purely random chance of a photo being seen on a community photo on their map.. or if they get my jomsviking show up in their game ... if they see my jomsviking they'll be in a for a treat compared to all the ones that have truly ugly armour on. However if i dressed him in unrealistic and un-vikinglike armour, i'd expect someone to just ring the bell til a better selection came up.
Most of the audio in the game that is not combat related is borked much of the time when i've been playing.
- Want your vikings to sing a song or tell a story while sailing up the rivers? - Sound is low and almost inaudible.
- Conversations when dealing with quests/story? You hear Eivorr just fine, but then have to struggle to hear the other character(s) or rely on the subtitled speech just because you have to.
- Music - incidental and themed - barely hear it much of the time if its indeed even there at all.
Fire and arrow or swing your sword however.. you hear it just fine.
Can definitely confirm this, had it happen twice and just laughed.
Then once completing the game a character i later spoke to referred to one of the characters that died as being still alive etc.. and laughed at that too.
They can go further than just blocking the account if they were so inclined. IP banning is one method but there are others.
I'd just beaten the base game so kicked off my download of the dlc's and thought i'd check the forums, but when i got here, it looks like ragnarok has already happened.
I will totally admit that AC Valhalla has been as challenging to keep it from crashing as it was to actually play, and my first few days i v. nearly uninstalled it due to the oh no it crashed! issues, but once i disabled the in-game overlay it became playable with just the odd oh no! crash now and again, but hey this is now the forums.. and i remember when they switched to this disastrous redesign of a forum and as a result i posted so infrequently i may as well have been a new forum member.
This spam though, honestly if they spent more time dealing with spam and less time copy/pasting fixes that JUST DON'T WORK, there would be a spam free forum but no, 7 pages is ridiculous, any good admin/mod would have spotted that in the first 30 minutes and begun mitigation of it.
Its crazy, i've just made a similar post of my own. Are there even any moderators working this forum right now? Clearly not if spam has been here 2-4 hours!!! Spam kills forums, especially when each forum thread takes up 3cm on your screen which is the worst design i've seen in a long time. So wading through so much spam makes this forum a place you do not want to visit.
Between 2 and 4 hours in just a short space of time, so much spam, its absolutely crazy that its remained here so long. I've been a forum moderator a number of times, so i know the tools that can be used on a good forum, and certainly expect them to be present on this redesigned Ubisoft forum. Its bad enough that forum topics each take up more vertical space than they need to as it is.. (tbh preferred the old forum for this reason!) but when you have to sift through 4-5 pages of repeated spam .. then you see ONE game related topic then several more spam, you just have to wonder.. WHEN are these spam posts actually going to be removed.
Come on Ubisoft, this is 2022 now, empower your moderators to clear this spam down if you've not done so already as it makes your customers not want to visit.
Wow, honestly i gave up, got on the reindeer mount and started to head towards the shard thing on the small island southwest of it.. before i reached near the shore, the Milk of humankind event flashed up as having been completed on my screen. Thank goodness for that!!! My guess is the cow wouldn't moooooooove while i was there,. Ok so i used the same joke twice, if i can't milk it here, where can I?
May aswell add me to this list of people who are trying to get this cow to realise it had freedom HOURS ago. This cow just won't Moooooooooooooooooooove
I had this happening with extreme regularity and was on the verge of calling it a day then uninstalling and vowing no more assassins creed games for me.
Then i decided to try one last attempt and went into the settings on the Ubisoft Connect launcher and disabled the onscreen overlay for supported games, and tried that.
It has largely cured the 'oh no! it crashed!' crashes to desktop i was getting and i've been able to play many hours since doing this. The only thing i can't access with this setting like this is the helix store but tbh i don't plan to add more funds to a game that crashes due to the overlay anyway.
This may be just my experience of it and i can't guarantee what helped me will help you also, but i guess you are at the point where you'll try anything now, so if you've not tried this, give it a go.
I had 2 'oh no it crashed' despite my setting but not anywhere near as bad as i'd been getting.
I have played extensively every single assassins creed game that is released, and of all of them i think it was/is this one and maybe 'Unity' which crashed like this.
No further crashing today either thus far. Not once.
I'll take this over my experience of 'oh no it crashed' every time i was trying to do a raid any time. Came so close to uninstalling valhalla in disgust, it was that bad an experience
First night I played, no crashes.
On the 2nd night and on saturday morning, i couldn't complete a raid without it crashing to desktop with 'oh no it crashed!' After trying everything else, i just disabled the in-game overlay for compatible games' in the connect launcher settings.
The rest of saturday was crash free.. no verify of game files, no clearing of caches.. no reinstalls of the OS (COME ON NOW, i am not going to that extreme for anyones published new game!)
So i'm running it on day 2 now, to see if the setting keeps things stable today too.
I was plagued with OH no it crashed - and crashing to desktop in almost every single quest and the game was crashing for me almost every 5-10 minutes forcing me to restart from last save. I was honestly getting to the point of 'i'm just going to uninstall this mess' and call it a total loss when i tried one thing which has resulted in 'so far' an entire day of crash free gaming on AC:Valhalla
I simply disabled the on-screen overlay for all games in the Ubisoft connect launcher. (Settings > Untick 'Enable in-game overlay for supported games')
Clicked past the prompt when launching AC: Valhalla to advise me some features may not work when playing the game.. i didn't care by this point, just run the game yeah?
Then was able to play the rest of yesterday with no issues.
I'd tried everything else, pagefile size, limit FPS, reduce texture/quality settings etc.. all to no avail. was NOT going to verify game files, and was not going to delete my cache every time i wanted to play. If i can play the entire Witcher 3 and Kojima's death stranding all the way through without crashes, then there is no reason for THIS game to be crashing like this.. it is not up to me as a gamer, to have to mollycoddle a game to actually work in this manner. So clearly if the above 'fix that worked for me' is working then i reckon there is something that ubisoft could have fixed in the last 1-2 years for other users so this doesn't have to be disabled. Something in the ubisoft connect overlay was causing or heavily contributing to my 'oh no it crashed!' issue.. so i'm leaving it disabled and will test it all again today to see if it goes on to be a 2nd day of being actually abe to pay the game.
