@ubi-nacho I really do wish the standard "update your drivers" and similar replies would not be relied on so heavily as a "response." Besides the fact that most drivers update automatically these days (Windows + graphics cards), most PC gamers tend to not fall into the PC-as-an-appliance category as a user who just browses the web and occasionally plays Solitaire...and it goes without saying that user won't be here.
Put another way, we've all already done the basics - and usually as soon as it became apparent this was an issue, and not a one-off quirk. Most of us have gone far beyond what's listed, and it still isn't helping.
Summary: the game has an inherent issue, and driver updates won't help that, and suggesting they might only comes across as a distraction.
@dagrommit Please, there is no need to state the obvious, which is also in this case the "template" response to any and every negative comments about the DZ. "If you don't like it then don't go in there."
We've all heard it a million times, but as paying customers we're also free to express disappointment, concern, whatever you want to call it, about the choices the devs have made.
It's a game. A product. It's not perfect. If you don't agree with my comment you are free to say so, but please stop with the "if you don't like it don't go in there." It reminds me of the old joke where the guy is at his doctor's office, holds his arm over his head and says "Doc, it hurts when I do this. What should I do?"
So his doctor gives him the sage advice of "Stop doing that!"
So as it happens I spent five days in NYC from last Friday to Tuesday, Aug. 17th. It was a request from my daughter for her birthday, and with no planning whatsoever on my part she had selected multiple locations that are all part of the WONY expansion. It was her first time to NYC, but not even close to my first - although my last visit was well before the original Div even came out in 2016, so my memory was a little foggy.
Anyway, it's pretty interesting to see what a stellar job the map and environment makers did for this game. Some locations, like Clinton Castle were spot on. I wasn't previously aware, but Clinton Castle is really undergoing a major refurb right now and indeed has scaffolding all over it. I suspect this had already started when they visited the site and took pictures, hence the scaffolding in the game. Same with Liberty Island, though absent the grounded boats and the Razorback it looked a little different.
The area that struck me the most though was the Staten Island Ferry terminal, which from what I can tell was a spot-on reproduction - down to the smallest detail. Coming through the doors to the escalators I was almost expecting to see machine gun-toting baddies there taking up positions.
At any rate, I think Massive and Res Storm have some extraordinary level and asset creators and do amazing work.
Three for three: I do a manhunt mission, Heroic, all Directives enabled, solo. Slog all the way to the end, and in the final boss showdown...CRASH.
Restart the game and all progress lost.
Seriously, what a POS and what a fantastically incompetent team.
@virtual-chris Do you do the weekly SHD project?
Before when I still had few exotics I'd do the weekly SHD as well as the weekly Summit projects. Those two combined guaranteed two exotics every week. GEs were of course another source (buying with stars), though slightly less often.
Now I have everything that isn't "hidden" behind, say, a raid. Plus Chameleons (in the LZ) and Pestilence (in the DZ) seem to drop for me like candy. When I finally get that Eagle Bearer I have enough exotic components to re-roll it 120 times!
Yeah, I know there's a pinned thread on this, but it has gotten so bad now it deserves to be brought to the forefront - repeatedly. If a mod merges this thread - so be it.
First of all, all sensationalism aside, it's perfectly clear Ubi doesn't give a rat's a** about quality control, as the crashing is now worse than ever. Since the latest TU I cannot run the game more than 10 minutes without a crash to desktop. Not once. Sometimes it crashes within 60 seconds. Sometimes 5-7 minutes, but even starting a mission is pointless anymore since it has become impossible to run all the way through without a crash, and more often than not you will lose progress as a result.
Second of all, what's with the loooong connection times now since the last TU? After all the splash screens and ads I sit on 0% for minutes now before it starts to load, now making every crash a 5+ minute affair to get back in.
Do the math, and you'll conclude you spend almost as much time crashing and recovering as you do playing.
Seriously Ubi, stick to video games, and don't even consider branching into anything else. It's the only industry I can think of where such an absolute disdain for quality control can be a core to the corporate culture without the company facing lawsuits or other legal action.
@indigital Like merphee said below: I have 20 years on you, so you are far from "too old." Are you a new player? Maybe not used to the play style?
When I first started Div 1 back in March of 2016 I was beyond horrible, but I had never played this type of game before, so I was struggling with the mechanics, the idea of crafting, combining talents, etc. Now I am pretty decent at it and can play PvE very well.
One thing I am definitely "too old" for: PvP in the DZ. I just can maneuver like these little kids that spend all day playing do - the old fingers don't work that fast. It's a given I lose more often than I win, but I just take it as the "half glass full" approach: the occasions I do win it's a major victory for me.
If only in those cases the kids new the guy at the other end was a grayhair. (lol)

@BT3241 I agree, but I only use Claws Out for GE challenges that require melee kills. Beyond that, I don't find it too useful.
I was playing around to see if combining Claws Out with Bloody Knuckles gave major melee bonus damage, but if it did, it wasn't obvious to me.
@PT_Frizzer Naming and shaming those cheatin' NPCs?
On the WONY expansion there's a building along Frankfort street near the shoreline that if you kill any NPCs there, they vanish. Usually by sinking into the ground.
I have been able to repeat this with 100% reliability, though they don't always "sink" and may sometimes disappear.
I set this up just to record it, and it worked as expected. Not a game breaker, but again....
My vote has to go to this: +magazine size, on a double barrel shotgun.
The first time I saw this, I was stunned at the...how shall I say…lack of sweating the details this game has?
I kept it for the novelty, but it has set the stage ever since for my expectations of this game.
I've had one sitting in my stash forever, and never even tried it out. I've been considering trying it with my Bulwark build, which is obviously built around a pistol (Liberty).
Reading the description it seems stacks only while holstered, and are good for only one shot. In that case, I wonder if it's worth it versus the all-headshot rolls I had instead.
@ArthurFriend Yeah, I have to agree on this one. I didn't waste any resources doing anything to any Picaro's I had. I did keep (and stockpile) every one that dropped for me, so when the random attributes were applied from 16.1 I was lucky enough that one was rolled the way I wanted, and just need some optimization.
Same with Closer; when they f-d it up I just stopped and waited, and one (of the many I had) came out OK with the random attributes.
The lesson here is when the devs f up (which is very often), just hold and wait before wasting resources.
But seriously, I don't necessarily say it's a bad thing. This was the first chance I had to try my gunner set built around Kingbreaker, Closer, Picaro's, Fox's Prayer and Coyote's; 59% CHC and 152% CHD with everything working (i.e., extra attribute back on Closer and AR damage on Kingbreaker), and I have to say the power is unreal. Everything is optimized on this set, and with pulse active Kingbreaker rips through Elites with 4-5 bullets (global difficulty on Challenging). In other words, I can take out 5 or 6 in one clip. I did a few Heroic landmarks in the DZ - solo - in record time, too.
I can bet every wannabe will be running something like this in the DZ very soon - if not already.
@mjean81025 I used to really want an EB, until the first time I engaged some schmuck who used nothing but in the DZ. It turns out the only real advantage it gives is the Tenacity talent, easily visible as a red glow around the player. Outside of that, I didn't find it particularly special as an AR.
So with damage reduced by 80% Tenacity does turn anyone into a mega-tank, but I found if I just hid or ran and waited till his red glow vanished - then engaged him - it weren't no big deal.
