@durrf Thank you very much. I read your post while I was preparing my fresh Windows install. The last one was around the end of january so, as I already mentioned, my hopes weren't too high that this approach would eventually solve my problem.
Now I'm just going to do what apparently most of the poeple did who are affected by these kind of crashes. Either I have the nerves to accept the crashes or I'm just going to skip this game. And most likely it is the latter.
@yazx_ I don't blame my hardware in the sense that I think that it's faulty. Otherwise I would see this behaviour in other games, too. But I believe, that it has to be a combination of a specific piece of hardware and this game which probably makes tracking down the cause of the issue a pain in the ...
Either way, it would be great to see this error on the known issues megathread.
@durrf Well, that's a shame. However, thank you very much for your answer!
Yesterday I even tried to reduce my GPU Clock Speed by 100 MHz (ASUS RTX 3080 TUF OC). That did not change anything regarding the crashes.
My last attempt will be to perform a clean Windows and AC Valhalla install. If that ist not going to solve problem, I'm done with the game.
Although my hopes aren't too high. I had a similar problem, when I was playing The Division 2 with an AMD 290x. I never had similar problems in other games however TD2 kept randomly crashing with an entry in event log, that watman stopped working. I was not able to solve that problem until I upgraded to a 5700 XT.
Do you have an amd or a nvidia GPU? Do you have any entries in the event viewer after a crash?
I have random crashes to desktop (sometimes after minutes, sometimes after hours). After every crash there's an entry that nvlddmkm stopped working. My GPU is a RTX 3080 and replacing my driver by an older version didn't solve the problem. The other divers/BIOS and my OS are all up to date.
Other games like CP2077 oder Control run completely fine.
@durrf Hi, did you find a way to solve this problem? I have a RTX 3080, too. Sometimes I can play for two hours without a crash and sometimes I have three crashes in ten minutes. Event viewer shows nvlddmkm error after every crash.
On the other hand I can run CP2077 maxed out for 8 hours without a single crash.
The first 8 hours I played the game i have not had a single crash. Now I am glad when I can play an hour and a half without a crash.
I have a 3080 and the event viewer shows, that nvlddmkm stopped to react. This behavior only occurs while playing AC Valhalla.
I tried to downgrade the driver from 461.72 to 461.09 and checked the game files integrity. Both step did not solve the problem.
