A bit disappointed to see this is still being an issue almost 7 months into the game. Still, I've been able to force Eivor's audio to be louder during cutscenes and post cutscene conversations by either turning the control scheme to Hybrid or Keyboard & Mouse. Setting it to Wireless Controller (PS4 controller) makes the voice level normal. I can pause during a cutscene, swap between the control schemes, and immediately notice the change in levels.
What platform are you playing on? PC
If on PC, are you using a dedicated Sound Card? No, onboard to motherboard
If so, please provide the name.
Also if on PC, please create a Support Ticket and attach your DxDiag file.
What kind of sound set up do you use? Bose desktop speakers, 2.1 audio
What monitor or TV are you using? Pixio PX7 Prime 2560x1440 165hz
Do you notice this outside of cutscenes as well? Can't tell if it's affecting the grunting noises, definitely notice in conversations after the cutscenes end.
Well since I can't edit anymore guess I have to post again to update. The entire game audio seems to be 2x as loud when using a K&M. I set it to Hybrid and when using the shoulder buttons in the menu it's around half the level of what using Q & E in the menu does. It affects all the in-game sounds as well.
@laplacehel Well I suppose that makes it a little better. Sucks that we have to put on walking speed 10 in order to walk a decent speed while cloaked. It's better than nothing but it'll be annoying to have to constantly switch between walk speed 6 & 10 in order to move at the right speed for both. They should have a separate speed adjuster for cloaked and uncloaked.
I didn't see it in the patch notes and was so fed up with missing events because of this bug that I came by this forum to see if anybody else was raging about it. This official response is an extremely welcome sight. Can't wait to actually play again, fingers crossed it actually works.
I just want to chime in to say I haven't played the game since the 1.1.0 update came out. The inability to walk is so frustrating that it's just a turn off from playing. It would be appreciated if you guys jumped this up as a higher priority. I advise you to test it yourself and use any keyboard with any walk keybinds. I guarantee you'll immediately notice how slow the player moves and how frustrating stealth sections are because of it.
Stealth is literally unplayable for M&K users and it's disheartening your tech team has taken so long to address the problem. It's been months now.
I can't count the number of times I've gone up to two soldiers standing next to each other and am only able to take one out silently because combat is triggered before I get the prompt to take out the second. Usually this results in the surrounding soldiers rushing in turning a stealth attempt, again, into a melee.
This worked so well in previous games like AC 2, 3, and Black Flag. You could even do a rush takedown on two targets which looked really cool. I know this feature was removed in this capacity with the rework of the game in Origins but at least Odyssey gave us a chain assassinate.
The current implementation of double assassinate is fun and looks cool, plus I like the range option, but it doesn't work for stealth. Bring back the ability to take out two targets at the same time without triggering combat.
Something I noticed is this acts the same as Odyssey's walking bug. The game seems to put you into certain states that will naturally slow down your walking speed.
- Entering a cave or inspection zone
- Walking near tall grass or bushes (anywhere the character will put their hand out to brush it)
- Using the cloak
All of these places will cause Eivor to slow down further regardless of the selected player walking speed. It may be a problem with how walking is designed and implemented in the game engine as Odyssey had this exact same problem with caves and it was never fixed.
Note: The cave problem may just be in Odyssey. That was where I noticed it and can't test right now to see if it's the same in Valhalla.
I started having crashes every time I entered combat since I plugged in an old XBOX 360 controller to fix the walk speed issue. It was really noticeable a couple days ago crashing every couple minutes when a fight would start. I've probably submitted half a dozen crash reports haha.
I went back to keyboard and mouse only today and so far it hasn't crashed in 30 minutes of play. Might not be related, but I never had a crash before I tried using a controller.
This is the only issue that is really driving me nuts with the game. When the speed is so slow it's simply impossible to a cloak and the whole mechanic is broken. I've ended up just killing everything and forget about stealth because it just doesn't work.
I remapped my key to alt, used different mouse settings for everything, changed between hold and toggle. Nothing makes a difference and the walk speed will always revert to the slowest. Through some experiments I've found that during the first second the walking is normal however it will then switch to the slowest possible. If you stop walking and wait for the animation to end you can trigger this change in speed every time.
It would be nice to have this resolved ASAP as it's cutting off a whole portion of the game for dedicated M&K users.
