Completely agree. I was excited at the idea of having a raven companion, but even apart from having essentially no functional use, Synin is barely in the game story wise. Total waste to even put it in the game. Enemy tagging was my favorite part of Odyssey and Valhalla feels like it takes a huge step backwards in this regard.
And honestly, I don't feel like enemy tagging is over powered. There were plenty of times in Odyssey where you could have every single enemy on the map tagged and still [censored] up and have to fight your way out. And realistically, you can still tag basically every enemy with Odin sight, it's just less convenient. That's not added challenge, it's just annoying.
@mitsunari3 de-syncing for killing innocents has been in every AC game that's ever been made. It breaks the story because in fiction, you aren't controlling the Eivor, merely reliving their memories.
Also showing a deep misunderstanding of what sexism is here.
I can see why replacing the level system with "power" makes some sense in terms of the context, but honestly the two skill points every level and the countless minuet little upgrades you have to make to get to a certain skill just feel exhausting to me. Leveling up should feel like a reward, but it always just feels like a chore to me in this game. Every time I get a new point, I have to think about what path I want to put it in, which tree of that path, what I'm trying to work for, etc, I might not even know what I'm going towards because that path hasn't been revealed. I honestly end up just ignoring level ups half the time because I don't want to have to think about where to spend my points, and it ends up just being an annoying interruption of gameplay. Am I alone here?
I finally got to the end of the second Fenrir fight, and when I delivered the final blow, I got shot out of the world and died, and didn't get credit for the victory.
For some reason, the game gave me the achievement during the Valhalla part, after Odin says the line, "No, I do not give you leave to go." I did have fireflies in my inventory when this happened, but obviously, I was nowhere near my settlement, and did not release them.
yeah, ive been overleveled for what feels like the entire game, pretty much. and by a good amount, too. doing the odd sidequest and collecting loot shouldn't have such a drastic effect on your level. And sure, you can hold your points, but like, you shouldn't have to. that's a bad solution to poor game design. this game isn't balanced or scaled properly at all, and it's a disappointment after Odyssey, which I felt like had pretty good level scaling. Like, i actually had to grind a little bit at times in Odyssey, which some people naturally complained about, and i think they just WAY over corrected in Valhalla.

@chevy_man2010 i mean, i don't think the accuracy of whether vikings killed innocents or not really even comes into play. we're follwing eivor's story, not the story of any random viking. maybe she just chose not to kill innocents, so then, doing so will de-sync you from her memories, cause that's not what she did.

Woof. This is your big complaint? You must be fun at parties.
I mean, that's literally the entire premise of the series you're talking about. I don't think they're gonna be ditching that any time soon. Or ever.
