Not that I much cared for the revenge objectives anyway, but having an "Avenge Xx_BongHits_69" quest notification popup almost always after I've cleared a camp and give me objectives to stare longingly into the eyes of a dead boar or something is not an improvement. The previous functionality was superior.

@ubi-wan It seems associated with using Odin's Sight, but I've had less occurrences since posting this just because of where I am in the game. After using Odin's Sight in the large "Avenge ..." text pops up and highlights the relevant player corpse to examine. I guess the remaining complaint is just that the large text popup shouldn't occur until the corpse is examined, IMO.
