Honestly, I would accept the constraints but only if they actually allowed me to use my gear and abilities as I see fit.
What's the point of me grindning materials for upgrades? What's the point of spending real money on store items? I can't use any of those.
Other than that, these challenges highlight everything that is broken about the game.
Ridiculous hitboxes for weak points. Absolutely broken and utterly **** stealth. Enemies are using some military grade radars because they can see you even if they are turned back. Extremely easy melee.
I got the game recently and I'm loving it. Got some characters to level 10 and above and I'm on my way to platinum trophy. I really like that you can solo play through the basic missions. However, I'm disappointed that there is no solo support for those special missions.
Is there a way we could get solo access to the game modes I mentioned? Or is the game in a "maintenance" mode and I shouldn't expect any patches/content drops?
Oh dear. The crossover event REALLY exposed how much better Odyssey is than Valhalla in every conceivable way.
Yup, playing Odyssey felt soo much better compared to Valhalla. Working stealth, working perks on gear, rewarding exploration, likeable characters. Kassandra is a badass and Eivor is a wet flannel.
I watched a video on youtube on how the After Effects event works and I'm not even going to attempt it with randoms. I've got people failing regular objectives at the 2nd difficulty level available and seeing how much coordination this one would require I just gave up.
I just completed the solo objective for the new gear and I'm back to square 1 with nothing to do.
Ubi, you made a whole in-game cutscene for enabling solo play!
Can we please have more visibility about ongoing promo events? There is literally no info anywhere that there is a Twitch drops campaign for Valkyrie Naval Pack and Valkyrie Settlement Pack going on right now till 20.03
I checked Ubisoft launcher, in-game main menu banners, news section on these forums and twitter page for assassin's creed - there's nothing. I just stumbled about the promo while browsing twitch drops section by accident.
I love it BECAUSE there is no PvP in the game in any shape or form.
@kormac67 A little bit of trivia from me: there are at least 2 "puzzles" that can't be opened from the inside. Some require you to throw a torch under the door so the spilled oil triggers an explosion and breaks the lock.
One such puzzle is in some village near a watermill. There's a small cellar-like room that can't be accessed from any other way.
I really don't mind these barred doors and really just shows that people are not capable of doing some basic problem solving. Once you learn the patterns, it's super easy finding the solution.
introduction of replayable and randomly generated missions is a great addition to the game - it's definitely something that was missing to give more life to the game after finishing the story and clearing the map.
However, I think the rewards are way too low as it is now. (Unless the base pay increases as you do more of these missions) On top of that, Royal Pleas barely increase the payout. Given the difficulty of some of them (stealth) and the game's questionable stealth mechanics they should pay out much more to be worth the effort.
50ish of crafting materials is obtainable at a much faster rate by destroying one cluster of ore or hunting some deer. In case of Royal Demands, you have to pick up the quests, travel AND do everything by the book if you want to do the Royal Pleas which takes way more time and effort than just roaming around on a horse shooting deer and ore deposits.
On top of that, the rewards displayed are currently bugged and you are guaranteed to be getting a different amount of resources than what you initially saw while picking up the quest. (I'll post a bug report about that later).
Given the very expensive prices of upgrades and the sheer amount of different gear to upgrade the rewards have to be multiplied at least 3x to make these quests not seem like a waste of time and effort.
The combat challenges also have their problems.
The one with fire kills + fall kills + parry was insane.
Enemies dying from hitting the wall before falling to the ground. Killing 2 full HP enemies at once if you kicked one guard into another. Getting too good RNG and accidentally killing all enemies with the fire parry rune before achieving fall kills. The rope skill (forgot the name - the "get over here" Skorpion from Mortal Kombat skill) killing enemies in one hit - I assume we were meant to use it to drag enemies into the fire.
In some of my attempts I also had to knock enemies out by holding L1 and then carrying the body into the fire for it to burn for fire kills. Peak gameplay.

@XBL_Laberbacke Yeah, the whole Last Chapter felt like a long teaser for introducing as to why we will be playing as Basim in AC Mirage. It was straight up boring. All the hype and build-up for an "epic epilogue" and we got... this.
Overall, the experience was mostly good but it was still below Origins or Odyssey level with occassional frustrations like absurd Mastery Challenges or discovering that gear/runes don't really give as much advantage as I would like to as opposed to Gear Score.
I'll keep playing, I still have to finish converting all weapons to Divine quality as I've already done all armour pieces. Occasional daily/weekly Ubisoft challenge can be fun too. Definitely not going to farm leather/metal to upgrade all to max though.
I'm going to keep the game on my PC for some time, probably until Mirage comes out or I finish all my gear goals.
@TheNorfolkian At first I thought they were meant to be colourful only when in proximity to the village. It would be a nice little touch to indicate that you are connected with Ravensthorpe and seen as a prominent figure but out of village the feathers would be black because you are seen as just another "brute" from the Raven Clan.
Raven feathers can be very irdescent but they overdid it in game.
This new carnival armour loses its iridescence when you talk to an NPC. Happened to me 3 out of 4 times but for the 4th time I talked to another NPC and it happened. So it's pretty much guaranteed.
Then it stays black forever until you load the game.
I just finished the Last Chapter questline and this was so underwhelming. They've set the bar so high with The Forgotten Saga than I was excited for some great content. The news article was also suggesting that we will be getting something really exciting
"Title Update 1.6.2 will include some exciting new content for the game, including The Last Chapter, a touching and intimate conclusion to Eivor’s saga."
Last Chapter questline is about a 15 minute long cutscene basically being a hype trailer for AC: Mirage.
What's the other exciting new content?
AC: Mirage crossover story is a super short story that's a joke compared to the Kassandra crossover. Following the NPC to the destination took longer than the actual mission's task.
Other than that we got 2x new skills, 4x mounts and 1x bird skin in the shop. And a hood always on feature that is only cosmetic - you still have to enable that all the time after leaving combat for the stealth effects to kick in.
Oh, and they didn't even bother to slap an achievement for completing the story.
Overall AC:V was a fantastic journey with some amazing moments but 1.6.2 left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
Hood always on:
From patch notes: This option is cosmetic only and does not impact stealth or detection.
My disappointment is immesurable and my day is ruined. And here I though we would finally be free of having to re-enable stealth all the time.
New mounts bought with silver from a vendor, all of them were 600 silver if I remember correctly.
4x horse, 1x bird
I highly doubt 30 people voting on a dead forum is going to change their minds. I'm against the idea of NG+ and I'd rather have new content than something that I've already experienced.
I'm glad they are stopping development and we're getting the closure as it's time to move on to other games and other Assassin's Creeds. I've already got over 350+ hours of entertainment which is way more than I expected from an AC title.
Why does one want to play NG+? To experience the story again while preserving the strength of an end-game geared character. But is this really necessary? Game is already easy, even on the hardest difficulty settings you can obliterate enemies fairly quickly.
Do you want to be super effective right from the start? You can adjust the difficulty settings and enemies will be dying like flies from 1 or 2 hits.
Also, it's not like NG+ would be a good resource farm for a player to want to slog through that again. Efficiency for farming materials is the same in end-game and regular gameplay.
If you want to experience the boss fights again you can just go to Kara's arena and stage the fights.
Do Ubi Store purchases carry over if you start a new game? If yes, then I don't think this should be that big of an issue.
I'm glad they didn't spend resources on doing NG+ and I'm hoping they really dedicated this time to make the patch better.
@TheNorfolkian Thank you for your work! Always happy to see some theorycrafters / minmaxers.
